INTRODUCTION
GOLDMUND MICRO METIS Speakers
Goldmund was founded in 1978 and has ever since been dedicated to the accurate reproduction of sound and
image.
At Goldmund, we strive to lead in the creation, development and manufacture of the industry’s most
advanced technologies, including audio and video systems, home-networking and music distribution.
The guiding principle at Goldmund is to produce a precise sound with the least possible loss of quality
through the different stages. Goldmund will never adopt a technology before it is sufficiently developed to
satisfy the high quality standards we set. This is why Goldmund has often rejected mainstream technologies
and developed its own.

1 PRELIMINARIES
The Goldmund Micro Metis use some very innovative technology to achieve a level of definition and
neutrality never found before in a speaker system.
Please read very carefully the following instructions. These high-precision speakers are extremely
revealing and can provide the best sound only if they are used properly.
For exacting technicians, musicians, and all those who demand the very best in audio reproduction,
we strongly recommend the use of the best associated components, especially electronics and cables
(see paragraph 4).
2 UNPACKING
The Micro Metis are small speakers and do not require more than one person to unbox. The speakers
are small and fragile so a lot of care is needed while handling.
Open the two cartons and remove the speakers. Unpack the speakers close to the location where they
will be standing.
ATTENTION: If you need to return the speakers to the factory or to your local representative for a
warranty repair, please note that they must be repacked in their original packing. This packaging has
been designed specifically to protect the Micro Metis speakers in transit. Use of alternative packaging
is likely to result in damage, invalidating warranty cover.

3 SELECTING THE SPEAKERS LOCATION
An extremely rigid floor is important for the optimal sonic result of your Micro Metis speakers. Select a
position where the speaker will have the most rigid possible coupling with the floor. Solid coupling is
essential, and if your support is standing on a suspended floor, locate at least two of the floor contacts
above a supporting beam or close to a supporting wall.
In stereo, the ideal location of the speakers in the room has to be found by experiment.
Avoid standing the speakers in the corner of the room and try to set them away from any adjacent wall
by 60cm (2 feet) minimum. The proper listening position is located by 1 to 1.5 times the distance
between the speakers at equal distance from each other. If the room size permits, try separating the
speakers by minimum 3m (10’) to provide a large stereo image.
In multi-channel systems, it is recommended to put the speakers as close as possible to the positions
shown in the figure below:
Front-Left
25° - 30°
100° - 115°
Front-Right
Center
Rear-Left
Rear-Right
Depending on the room acoustics, the speakers may be standing parallel or slightly tilted toward the
listener.

4 CONNECTING THE AMPLIFIER
If you do not use Goldmund amplifiers, make sure to select amplifiers with sufficient speed and
dynamic range to do justice to the qualities of the Micro Metis. A slow amplifier will not have the
capability to properly hold the ultra-fast drivers of the Micro Metis.
The cables coming from the amplifier may be connected to the two binding post sockets (black & red)
on the rear panel of the Micro Metis. Goldmund recommends the use of high quality banana cables for
this wiring.
5 RUNNING-IN
The Micro Metis needs many days playing music before providing the top sonic quality they are built to
provide.
The few first hours can be very frustrating for a demanding listener.
Do not hesitate to let them play quite loud for some time before attempting any real system tuning or
position adjustment.
6 CLEANING
To clean the metal case of the speaker, you can use a wet cloth. Always use a very soft cloth to avoid
scratching the surface.
The Goldmund plate on the front panel is gold plated. Simply clean it with a soft cloth, without any
chemical solution.
