Compress the front part of the rear suspension
so that the limiter straps are no longer tight.
A tip: put a large piece of wood under the
front part of the rear suspension to raise it and
thereby loosen the tension of the limiter straps.
2
Loosen the two lower screws of the limiter
straps.
3
Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground. Make sure the
vehicle is securely supported so that it will
not tip over.
4
Remove the rubber covers from the idler
wheels.
5
Remove the outer idler wheels.
6
Remove the idler wheel mounting brackets.
7
Remove the screw holding the axle where the
original shock absorber is attached.
8
Loosen the screws at the front of the slide rails
so that you can press the rails apart. Rotate
the shock absorber and axle so that the whole
unit comes out.
9
Remove the axle with washers from the
original shock absorber.
10
Install the Öhlins shock absorber on to the
axle together with the spacers. Do not install
the washers.
11
Install the Öhlins shock absorber and the
axle into the vehicle. The piggyback reservoir
should be at the bottom facing left.
12
Reinstall the idler wheels, the rubber covers
and the limiter straps.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to
the correct torque and that nothing fouls or
restricts movement of the shock absorber
when the suspension is fully compressed or
extended.
15
Read more about the shock absorber in your
Öhlins Owner’s Manual.
