INSTALL THE SHOCK ABSORBER ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING!
When delivered, the Öhlins shock absorber is
dialed to the recommended settings for the
specific brand and make of the motorcycle.
Before riding, always ensure that the basic
settings made by Öhlins are intact.
To set the adjuster:
The turn adjusters have a normal right
hand thread. Turn the damping adjusters
clockwise to fully closed (position zero
[0]). Then, turn counter clockwise to open,
and count the clicks until you reach the
recommended number of clicks. See
Set-up data.

Raise the rear end of the vehicle so that the
original shock absorbers are in a neutral
position.

Remove the original shock absorbers.

Install the Öhlins shock absorbers. The
cylinder head should be at the top and the
piggyback reservoir facing backwards.
Fasten the upper attachment first.
WARNING!
1. It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install
the shock absorber.
2. Follow the instructions in the vehicle service
manual when changing the shock absorber.
3. When working on a raised vehicle, make sure
that it is securely supported to prevent it from
tipping over.

Fasten the lower attachment. Raise or lower
the wheels slightly to make the attachment fit.

Tighten the attachment screws to the correct
torque. Consult your ATV Owners manual.

NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to
the correct torque and that nothing fouls or
restricts movement of the shock absorber
when the suspension is being fully com-
pressed or extended.

CAUTION!
Do not apply lifting force to the A-arms.
Make sure the vehicle is securely supported
so that it cannot tip. Consult your vehicle
service manual.

Recommended settings
Spring preload 20 mm
Compression damping 12 clicks
Compression damping:
Adjust by turning the knob on top
of the reservoir. Turn clockwise to
increase compression damping, turn
counter clockwise to decrease it.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing
surfaces can be damaged. Handtighten
only.
Spring preload
Use the C-spanner provided in this kit.
Turn the spring platform nut (2a) to set
the spring preload. Lock the setting
with the lock nut (2b).
