purchase transaction without the need of a cashier. At the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag the customer
executes the scanning, bagging and paying of the item completely on his own.
Each BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag kiosk terminal is connected to an attendant station. This is a POS
system which controls all connected BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag terminals and which is supervised by
a human attendant; thus ensuring that the customer will receive human support in case problems
should occur at the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag kiosk terminal during transaction.
It is possible to connect up to 20 lanes to one attendant station.
Prior to the installation of BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag, the site has to be prepared carefully and
according to specific requirements. These requirements might vary considerably depending on the
customers’ requirements as well as on the conditions given at the respective site. In order to avoid
deficiencies that may be difficult to detect and/or to correct after the installation the preparatory work is
of considerable importance.
As BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag consists of separate elements that may be combined in various con-
figurations it is an absolute pre-requisite for you to determine the equipment to be installed at your
site. According to this installing information the site preparation can respectively will have to pro-
ceed.

Attendant Station
As mentioned in the introduction the Attendant Station is a POS system which controls all connected
BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag terminals and which is supervised by a human attendant. There are two
possibilities to control transactions at the lane:
Local Attendant
The Local Attendant mode is used directly at the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag terminal to solve prob-
lems with the checkout process (e. g. no readable barcode). An attendant an authorized staff mem-
ber - can intervene in the transaction process and can solve problems on the spot. He/she can display
the attendant screen by inserting a special key at the lane.
In terms of space in the store no consideration is necessary; the attendant
functions are being executed directly at the lane.
Attendant Station (Standard Hardware)
The Attendant Station is a POS system that controls several lanes at the same time. It is supervised
by a human attendant who can control the transactions at the connected lanes on the spot. It consists
of the following components:
BEETLE /M-II POS System
Dimensions: (W x D x H) in mm: 288 x 366 x 150 with cable cover
BA73A 15” TFT colour LCD flat screen
Dimensions: (H x W x D) in mm: 355 x 390 x 200
(including foot)
Connection cable length: 0,5 / 2 / 3 / 5 m
It is recommended to install an attendant station if more than one lane is
planned to be installed in the store.
The furniture to place the attendant station components is to be selected and provided by the cus-
tomer. Please consider the additional space necessary for installation accordingly.
LAN Communication
The BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag supports Ethernet 10/100 BASE-T local area network (LAN) commu-
nication protocol. The BEETLE terminal provides a female RJ-45 connection port for the LAN. A 6-foot
LAN cable is provided with the system.

Tra
nsport Carrier
Transport
BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag is delivered in plastic foil as complete system on a special palet. The de-
livery comprises foot bezles, deposit stations, scale screening grid and a signal light.
On the left and on the right of the palet there are holes for the ground rollers of the BEETLE /iSCAN
Scan&Bag.
Two transport carriers are affixed sidewise to the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag and are screwed (by
bolts) to the system and the palet.
Measures:
Width with transport carrier: 1425 mm
Depth with transport carrier: 882 mm
Height without signal lamp: 1214 mm
Weight: 570 Kg
For detailed information on hoisting technology, please refer to the
Appendix
Installation
Remove the 4 bolts of the transport carrier from the pallet.
(1-4 = bolts)
Apply the fork lift to the transport carrier and to the left/right of the safe (depending on the BEETLE
/iSCAN Scan&Bag version if safe tower is situated on left or on right side). Mind the minimum dis-
tance between the forks of 0,57m.

Due to the rollers on the bottom of the device the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag has to be lifted up by at
least 30mm.
Put the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag carefully and slowly down to the designated spot.
Screw transport carrier off the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag.
Roll the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag to the designated place of installation. Please consider the ma-
noeuvrability of the rollers: rollers on the safe side do only move in one direction whereas rollers on
the payment tower side move in any direction. So apply to the cash tower wall first and then to the
safe face and rear panel. The carriage way to roll may neither be soft (carpet) nor have exaltations
(door sill) exceeding 10mm!
Screw out the device feet until the rollers are unburdened and can no longer roll. Tool: hexagonal
wrench 25/17.
Screw out two device feet under the scanner module from the inside; screw out two device feet under
the cash tower from the outside; screw out four device feet under the safe from the outside.

Adjustment of the device is effected by adjusting the device feet under the cash tower; and
applicable for fine tuning adjustment by positioning the feet under the safe as well.
Clip the annexed foot bezles to the tower and pull them down until they touch the ground. As the case
may be seal the splices.
Affix/screw together the bag deposit stations, scale screening grid and the signal light.
Please keep in mind that the security scales on the units can be affected
adversely by air flow from overhead air conditioning vents, bursts of air entering
through store doors, or vibrations from unstable floors.

Unpacking and checking the System
Unpack the system and verify that the scope of delivery is identical to the information on the delivery
ticket.
Should you notice any
transport damages or
discrepancies between package contents and delivery ticket or
functional defects,
please inform your contracting parties or the branch office of Wincor Nixdorf immediately. Please indi-
cate the number of your delivery ticket and delivery ticket position and serial number of the respective
device.
It is absolutely necessary to check the function of the original equipment before
you perform any changes (e.g. by installing an expansion card). Only then it is
possible to accept a functional defect as a claim.
We recommend saving the original packaging for transport at a later time (protec-
tion from impact and shock).
You will need the following tools
Keep the following tools ready to hand for working on the BEETLE /iSCAN Scan&Bag
socket wrench 5 mm
open-end wrench 5.5 mm
spring balance with hooks min. 15 N
Torx-screwdriver 6 mm, 7 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm
feeler gauge 0.5 mm, 0.45 mm, 0.55 mm
