2 Basic safety instructions
2.1 Requirements for the personnel
The personnel must fulfill the following requirements for its tasks:
‣Trained, qualified specialists must have a relevant qualification for this specific function
and task.
‣Are authorized by the plant owner/operator.
‣Are familiar with federal/national regulations.
‣Before starting work, read and understand the instructions in the manual and
supplementary documentation as well as the certificates (depending on the application).
‣Follow instructions and comply with basic conditions.
2.2 Designated use
The FieldEdge SGC200 must be installed, connected and configured in accordance with the
information in these Brief Operating Instructions and is not approved for use in hazardous
areas.
2.3 Workplace safety
For work on and with the device:
‣Wear the required personal protective equipment according to federal/national
regulations.
2.4 Operational safety
Risk of injury.
‣Operate the device in proper technical condition and fail-safe condition only.
‣The operator is responsible for interference-free operation of the device.
2.5 Product safety
The FieldEdge SGC200 meets the legal requirements of the relevant EU directives.
Endress+Hauser has affixed the CE mark as confirmation that the FieldEdge SGC200 has been
successfully tested.

3 Product description
The FieldEdge SGC200 enables the integration of Endress+Hauser Bluetooth devices into the
Netilion Platform. The FieldEdge transmits device IDs, device readings and status information.
Connection to the web is via an integrated LTE modem with a global SIM card. The
transmitted data can be retrieved directly via a REST JSON Application Programming Interface
(API) and integrated into the user application. The FieldEdge SGC200 is configured via the
SmartBlue app.

The Application Programming Interface (API) is provided as part of the Netilion Connect
Subscription.
4 Incoming acceptance and product identification
4.1 Incoming acceptance
• Check the packaging for visible damage arising from transportation.
• To avoid damage, remove the packaging with care.
• Keep all the accompanying documents.
The system may not be put into operation if the contents are found to be damaged
beforehand. In this case refer to the information on https://netilion.endress.com/legal/terms-
of-service. Return the system to Endress+Hauser in the original packaging where possible.

5 Installation
5.1 Installation conditions
Please note the following to ensure correct operation of the FieldEdge SGC200:
• Fit the LTE antenna supplied or ordered as an optional extra on the device
• Connect the device to a power supply
• Use the SmartBlue app → 11 to determine the best location for the device
• Use the device in the open air only
• Maximum height 2 000 m
• Fluctuation in the mains voltage ± 10 % maximum
Only use the LTE antenna provided or the optional remote antenna; otherwise the
operating permit will lose its validity.

5.2.2 Mounting the LTE antenna
The remote LTE antenna can be ordered as an optional extra.
Screw the LTE antenna onto the screw thread. The remote LTE antenna is supplied with a
cable of 3 m in length.
5.3 Post-installation check
Are the mounted components undamaged (visual inspection)?
Do all the components meet the required specifications? For example:
• Ambient temperature range
• Humidity
Are all the securing screws tightened securely?
Is the LTE antenna securely tightened?

6.1 Connection conditions
NOTICE
Connecting the device to the supply voltage without the antenna
causes damage to the device.
‣Do not operate the device without having the antenna connected.
• Ensure the cable is de-energized when connecting to the FieldEdge SGC200
• Please follow the connection information in these Brief Operating Instructions
• Supply voltage 8 to 30 VDC
• The power unit must be certified in accordance with IEC 60950-1 or IEC61010-1

6.2.1 Ensuring the degree of protection

If the housing of the FieldEdge SGC200 is open,
degree of protection IP67 is lost.
‣The housing of the FieldEdge SGC200 must not be opened.
6.3 Post-connection check
Are the system, devices and cables undamaged (visual check)?
Do the cables comply with the requirements?

Do the installed cables have adequate strain relief?
Does the supply voltage of the components match the specifications on the nameplate?
Is the terminal assignment correct?
Is the housing cover locked?
Are all the cable glands tightened securely?
7 Operation options
The FieldEdge SGC200 can be operated via the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app.
SmartBlue is available as a download from the Google Play Store for Android devices and from
the iTunes Store for iOS devices.

Scan the QR code.
The SmartBlue app opens.
8 System integration
The signal transmission via wireless Bluetooth technology uses an encryption method tested
by a third party (Fraunhofer-Institut). Without the SmartBlue app, the device is not visible via
Bluetooth. One point-to-point connection is established between the device and a smartphone
or tablet.
System requirements

• iPhone 4S or higher, from iOS9.0
• iPad2 or higher, from iOS9.0

• Android devices: Android 4.4 KitKat and Bluetooth 4.0

9 Commissioning
9.1 Function check
Is the distance between the FieldEdge SGC200 and Bluetooth devices 40 m max. in open space?
Has a connection been established between the device and a cell phone network?
9.2 Configuring the device
9.2.1 Determining the device location
1. Start the SmartBlue app.
2. Tap on the icon for reachable devices.
All of the devices that must be connected with the FieldEdge SGC200 are displayed.
3. Select the location.
When selecting the location for the FieldEdge SGC200 ensure that the connection to the
cell phone network is good. Use the remote LTE antenna to improve the connection.
9.2.2 Connecting the device with the SmartBlue app
Use the following access details when logging in for the first time:
• Username: "admin"
• Password: "Device serial number"
1. Start the SmartBlue app.
All available devices are displayed.
2. Select FieldEdge SGC200.
3. Enter username and password.
The password must be changed after you have logged in for the first time.
9.2.3 Connecting the device to the cell phone network
The device is supplied with a pre-configured cell phone connection. The green check is
confirmation that the device is connected to the cell phone network.

9.2.4 Connecting the device to the Netilion Platform
The device is supplied with a pre-configured Cloud connection. The green check is
confirmation that the device is connected to the Netilion Platform.

9.2.5 Connecting the device to Bluetooth devices
Use the following access details the first time you log in:
• Username: "admin"
• Password: "Device serial number"

Select the available devices in the submenu.
All of the available devices are displayed in the "Reachable Field Devices" section at
the bottom.

4. Select the devices that should be connected with the FieldEdge SGC200.

5. Enter username and password.
The device is displayed online in the live list.
The device is fully configured and the transferred data are available in the Netilion
Platform.
