Step 1. Before installing the camera ...
The ALI-IPV5060RP camera can be installed on a ceiling, wall or table, or installed with any of the optional
mounting brackets listed above.
1. Check the package contents and make sure that the device in the package is in good condition and
all the assembly parts are included.
2. Make sure the mounting surface and fasteners are strong enough to withstand at least three times
the weight of the camera assembly and the mounting bracket (if used). For concrete or cement
block walls, use an expansion screw to secure the camera or mounting bracket.
3. Make sure all the equipment that will be attached to the camera is power-o during the installation,
if possible.
4. Check the specication of the products for the installation environment.
5. Make sure the power supply is matched with the camera voltage and wattage specication to avoid
damage.
6. Make sure that there are no reective surface too close to the camera lens. The IR light from the
camera may reect back into the lens causing reection.
7. Do not remove the dome cover lm until the installation is nished. Dust or grease on the dome
cover will cause IR reection. If there is dust or grease on the dome cover, clean the dome cover with
clean soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
Step 2. Prepare the camera for installation
Remove the Bezel
1. Remove the camera assembly from the packaging. Do not remove the plastic lm from that covers
the lens at this time.
2. Lay the camera on a clean, at surface with the lens side up.
3. Open the Bezel Lock Screw cover.

4. Use the security L-wrench to fully unscrew the bezel lock screw. NOTE: The bezel lock screw is a
captive screw.
5. Unsnap the cover from the camera assembly.
6. Unsnap the bezel from the camera assembly. If the bezel cannot be separated from the camera
assembly, turn the camera base side up and push a small blade screwdriver into the slots shown in
the photo below to free the three bezel retention tabs from catches on the camera assembly.

This document guides you through the basic steps to install and congure the ALI-IPV5060RP cameras. The
ALI-IPV5060RP camera features:
• 1/1.8” progressive scan CMOS
• 6 mega-pixel image sensor
• Up to 3072 x 2048 resolution, 30 fps
• 360° sheye panoramic view
• Multiple viewing modes
• Internal MicroSD card slot for storage up to 64 GB (card not provided)
• Virtual PTZ mode
• 50 ft IR range
• Built-in microphone and speaker

Insert MicroSD card into the camera
A MicroSD card installed in the provides local storage for video recordings, capture les, and log data.
NOTE: If the camera is not managed by an NVR or other video management system (VMS) and doesn’t
have a MicroSD card installed, video recordings, capture les, and log data are not saved.
1. Remove the bezel.
2. Use the security L-wrench to remove the oval cover that conceals the MicroSD card slot and the
Reset button.
3. Insert a MicroSD card into the card slot as shown in the photo below. The label on the card should
face out.

4. Push the MicroSD card into the slot as far as possible, and then release it. It should click into place
when fully inserted.

To remove the MicroSD card, push the card all the way in to release it from the connector, then lift it
out of the slot.
5. Reinstall the oval shaped cover that conceals the MicroSD card and the Reset button.
Step 3. Mount the camera
Use the following procedure to ush-mount the camera onto a ceiling or wall. The procedure is identical for
all three, except for a parameter dierence in the camera setup menu, and the orientation of the camera for
wall installations, and. Pictures shown here are for a ceiling installation.
1. Route extension cables from the camera mounting location to the devices it will connect to. Do
not connect them to these devices at this time. The camera provides the following drop cables to
connect to other devices:
Power with screw-down terminals for 12 Vdc powering. NOTE: The camera can also be
powered through the LAN (PoE).
Ethernet with RJ-45 connector. A protective jacket for the RJ-45 connector is provided with
the camera.
Alarm IN/OUT with screw-down terminals. Terminal identication is provided on the
connector.

2. Prepare the camera for installation. See “Step 2. Prepare the camera for installation” on page 1.
3. Obtain the appropriate fasteners for securing the camera to the mounting surface. The fasteners
should support at least three times the weight of the camera. The screws and wall inserts provided
with the camera are adequate for many surfaces.
4. Use the Drill Template provided to mark and drill the holes in the ceiling for the fasteners (mounting
screws). Also drill a hole for the drop cables. For wall mount installation, orient the template so that
the arrow points up (perpendicular to the plane of your surveillance target).
NOTE
For wall mount installation, the camera must be oriented so the “UP” label on the face of the
camera is at the top.

5. Install screws into the screw hole until the screw head is at least ¼” over the surface.

6. Connect the extension cables to the camera drop cables. Use the protective jacket for the LAN cable
connector, if needed.
NOTE
Drop cable connectors are not waterproof.
7. Position the camera at the mounting location so that the screws heads are in the mounting screw
slots, and then turn the camera clockwise until the screws are fully seated in the slots.
8. Tighten the mounting screws until snug. Be careful not to over-tighten them.
9. Connect the extension cables to the devices the camera will connect to. Be sure the devices you
connect the cables to are not powered on.
10. Apply power to the devices the camera is connected to, including 12 Vdc power or LAN PoE.
11. Reinstall the camera bezel.
12. Remove the protective lm from the camera lens dome. Clean the dome with isopropyl alcohol if
needed.
13. Using a computer connected to the LAN the camera is attached to, congure the network access to
the camera including:
Install Alibi Discover (see “Step 4. Install the Alibi Discover Tool” on page 3).
Congure the network settings (see “Step 5. Change device network settings (IP address)”
on page 3).
14. Log into camera to perform camera setup procedures including:
Log in to the camera (see “Step 6. Initial remote login” on page 4).
Congure camera sheye parameters (see “Step 7. Setup Fisheye Parameters” on page 5).
For ceiling mounted cameras, select the Mount Type as “Ceiling. For wall mounted
cameras, select the Mount Type as “Wall. For table mounted cameras, select the Mount
Type as “Table”.
Congure PTZ camera video streams (see”Step 9. Setup PTZ video streams” on page 5).
Change administrative password. See “Step 10. Change default password” on page 6.
15. Perform advanced camera conguration steps as needed. Refer to the ALIBI™ IP Camera
Software User Manual provided on CD with your system, or on your vendor’s website. These
congure steps should include the following:
Conguring alarm input and output
Congure recording schedules
Congure event recording (motion detection, traversing virtual plane, intrusion, etc.)
Traversing Virtual Plane Detection
Intrusion Detection
Add access users to the camera
Step 4. Install the Alibi Discover Tool
The ALIBI Discover Tool is a software utility used to “discover” ALIBI cameras and NVRs/DVRs installed on
the LAN and change their network settings. The tool is provided on the CD with your camera. To use the
tool:
1. Insert the software CD provided with your camera into an optical drive on the Microsoft Windows
computer you will use to access your camera on the LAN.
2. On the CD, nd the folder that contains the ALIBI Discover Tool.
3. Copy the les in the folder to a new directory on your computer. The les should appear as shown in
the directory shown below.
4. To open the ALIBI Discover Tool, double click the le ALIBI Discover Tool.exe. The tool will
automatically discover ALIBI cameras and recorders installed on the network.
Step 5. Change device network settings (IP address)
To change the network settings of the camera to be compatible with the subnet where it is installed, do the
following:
1. Click the device to highlight it. Notice that the network parameters are shown in the right frame.
2. Modify the network settings to values compatible with the subnet where it is installed.
3. Enter the admin password for the device in the password eld. By default, the admin user
password for ALIBI cameras is 1111.
4. Click the Save button. A parameter modication completion window will open.

5. The new IP address, port, etc. settings will appear in the list with the device you modied.
Step 6. Initial remote login
To access the camera from a computer on the LAN for the rst time:
1. Open your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser on your compute and enter the IP address of the
camera in the URL eld. In the example below, the IP address of the camera is 192.168.75.18.
2. In the login window, enter your User Name and Password in the appropriate elds, then click
Login. The default User Name and Password for ALIBI cameras is admin and 1111.
3. If this is the rst time you are logging into the camera at this IP address AND you are using Internet
Explorer 10 or newer, you must congure IE for Compatibility mode:
a. In Internet Explorer, click the Tools icon (located to the right of the tabs), then select
Compatibility View settings from the drop-down menu.
b. In the Compatibility View Settings window, ensure that the IP address of your camera is in the
Add this website eld, then click Add.
c. After clicking Add, the IP address will appear in the Websites list. Click Close.
d. If a message on the screen requesting that you install a plug-in (see below), click on the
message and continue with the following sub-steps. A message box will appear at the
bottom of the window to install the WebComponents plug-in. Otherwise, continue with step
“Step 7. Setup Fisheye Parameters” on page 5.
e. In the message box, click Run to install WebComponents.exe. The following pop-up window
will open. When this window appears, close the browser.
f. Click Next to install WebComponents. Allow the plug-in installation to complete. When the
following window appears, click Finish.

g. Log into the camera again. A Live View display will appear.

Step 7. Setup Fisheye Parameters
Alibi Fisheye cameras include a special setup menu called Fisheye Parameters. This menu is used to
congure the camera for the mounting orientation (type - Wall, Table, or Ceiling), and Real Time Mode
(Enable or Disable). These parameters aect the Live View mode options, image eect, PTZ control, Preset
scene, etc. PTZ View and panoramic view cannot be performed at the same time in Live View mod. Also,
when a PTZ view is displayed, no local recording is performed.
When conguring an Alibi Fisheye camera, use this menu to select the applicable Mounting Type
parameter. To congure this menu:
1. Open the Fisheye Parameter menu. Go to Setup tab | System | Fisheye Parameter
2. Open the Mount Type drop-down list and select the applicable mounting orientation of the
camera: Wall, Table or Ceiling.
3. In the Real-time Mode eld, select either Enable or Disable.
4. Click Save to retain your settings.
Step 8. Setup Storage Management
In the Storage Management menu, you can prepare a storage device, such as an internal micro SD card or
a NAS (See the ALIBI™ IP Camera Software User Manual) for use. These devices usually must be formatted
before they can store data from the camera. You can also set the percentages of Pictures (Captures) and
Video recordings across the storage device.
To open the Storage Management menu, go to Setup tab | Storage | Storage Management
In the example above, a 16 GB MicroSD card was installed in the camera.
1. Check the box for the HDD you want to congure.
NOTE
If the Status of the HDD is Oine, the HDD is not recognized. Check the settings on the NAS menu. See
the document ALIBI™ IP Camera Software User Manual provided on the software and
documentation CD with your camera.
2. In the HDD Device List, if the Status external storage device (HDD) you added shows an
Uninitialized status:
a. Click the Format button to format the HDD. Format performs a full format of the HDD (erases
all data from the disk).
b. In the Message from webpage pop-up window, click OK to continue.
c. Wait until the format process completes before continuing. When formatting completes
successfully, the HDD status will change to Normal.
3. Edit the percentages of the HDD allocated for Picture and Record data as needed.
4. Click Save.
Step 9. Setup PTZ video streams
1. In the Live View window shown above, click on the sheye image. Notice that each video stream is
identied as 1, 2, or 3 in each video stream and on the sheye image.

2. Select one of the three video streams, and then use the PTZ control panel to adjust the direction and
focus of the image. When the direction of the image changes, the position of the image is shown in
the sheye image frame.

3. Repeat the previous steps for the other video streams.
Step 10. Change default password
Observint Technologies strongly recommends that you change the default admin user password in your
camera from “1111” to a dierent code to help protect against unauthorized access. You must login to the
camera with the admin user name to change the admin password. To change the admin password:
1. Click the Setup tab, and then click Security in the left frame.
2. Click the User tab in the menu on the right.
3. Click the admin User Name to select (highlight) it, and then click the Modify button. The Modify
User pop-up window will open.
4. In both the Password and Conrm elds, enter a new password. The password can contain 0 .. 9,
A .. Z, and a .. z. Record your new password for future reference.
5. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
Step 11. Additional configuration steps
Refer to the document ALIBI™ IP Camera Software User Manual provided on the software and
documentation CD with your camera to customize the conguration of your camera.
