Sonnet Echo Express III-R is a high-performance PCIe expansion chassis that enables you to connect three of your own 3.5-inch HDDs or SSDs to your Mac Pro. It features a Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port Card for fast data transfer speeds and a Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit for easy installation and removal of drives. With the Echo Express III-R, you can expand the storage capacity of your Mac Pro and improve its overall performance.

Installation Overview

1. Remove the Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit

assembly, PCIe card package, cables, and hardware

from the outer box.

2. Locate the cable passthrough opening next to the

assembly’s fan, and then remove the plastic grommet

by pushing it out from inside the assembly.

3. Route the three SATA data cables through the cable

passthrough opening, and then plug them into the

drive cage’s connectors. Note that the connectors with

the backward L-shaped opening connect to the drive cage.

4. Wrap the grommet around the cables, and then

reinstall the grommet into the bracket.

5. Referring to the Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit

user’s guide, install the Mobile Rack Device Mounting

Kit assembly and the included PCIe card into your

Echo Express III-R (Chapter III – Installation Steps, B –

Echo Express III-R Kit Installation Steps).

6. Referring to the 3.5" Hard Drive Cage User’s Manual,

insert your 3.5" drives into the drive cage.
