Sonnet Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit allows you to connect three of your 3.5” HDDs or SSDs to your computer via a PCIe card. It features a large exhaust fan for quiet operation and adequate cooling, and includes all necessary cables and hardware for installation in an Echo Express III-R or xMac Pro Server.

Installation Overview

1. Remove the Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit

assembly, PCIe card package, cables, and hardware

from the outer box.

2. Locate the cable passthrough opening next to the

assembly’s fan, and then remove the plastic grommet

by pushing it out from inside the assembly.

3. Route the four SATA data cables through the cable

passthrough opening, and then plug three of them

smaller connectors into the drive cages’ ports.

4. Wrap the grommet around the cables, and then

reinstall the grommet into the bracket.

5. Referring to the Mobile Rack Device Mounting Kit

user’s guide, install the assembly and the included

PCIe card into your Echo Express III-R or xMac Pro

Server.

6. Referring to the 3.5" Hard Drive Cage User’s Manual,

insert your 3.5" drives into the drive cage.

Support Note: In order to reduce the operating

noise level of this Mobile Rack Device Mounting

Kit, the fan in the installed drive cage enclosure has been

disconnected.

Sonnet designed the kit with a large exhaust fan, and

has confirmed through testing that it provides more than

adequate cooling for installed drives in this configuration,

and delivers much quieter operation as a result. Please

note that if you, for whatever reason, remove the drive

cage enclosure for use elsewhere, you should reconnect

the fan.
