CLEANING
Clean using a cloth dampened only with water and a little mild detergent.
Use of solvents or hydrocarbon-based cleaners may cause permanent damage.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The switch does not work and the status LED is flashing red
at 2Hz (10 times in 5 seconds):
The switch has detected an overload condition and has shut down.
To clear the fault condition, tap and wait for the LED to turn green.
Disconnect loads in excess of rated load and try again.
LIMITED FIVE YEAR WARRANTY
Pass & Seymour will remedy any defect in workmanship or material in Pass & Seymour
products which may develop under proper and normal use within five years from date of
purchase by a consumer: (1) by repair or replacement, or, at Pass & Seymour’s option,
(2) by return of an amount equal to consumer’s purchase price. Such remedy is IN LIEU OF
ANY AND ALL EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Such remedy by Pass & Seymour does not include or cover
cost of labor for removal or reinstallation of the product. ALL OTHER FURTHER ELEMENTS
OF DAMAGE (INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) FOR BREACH OF ANY AND ALL
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY
OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE EXCLUDED HEREBY. (Some states do
not allow disclaimers or exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages,
so the above disclaimer and limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.) ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTIES INCLUDING WHERE REQUIRED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE FIVE YEAR PERIOD
SET FORTH ABOVE. (Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty
lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.) To ensure safety, all repairs to Pass
& Seymour products must be made by Pass & Seymour, or under its specific direction.
Procedure to obtain performance of any warranty obligation is as follows: (1) Contact
Pass & Seymour, Syracuse, New York 13221, for instructions concerning return or repair;
(2) return the product to Pass & Seymour, postage paid, with your name and address and
a written description of the installation or use of the Pass & Seymour product, and the
observed defects or failure to operate, or other claimed basis for dissatisfaction. This
warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from
state to state.

UNIT DESCRIPTION
The LightSense™ PSHS1 Electronic Switch incorporates an electro-mechanical
relay that switches the load safely using patented zero-crossing technology.
Load Types
Use the PSHS1 for the following load types:
• Conventional (non-dimmable) fluorescent ballasts
• Discharge lighting fixtures
• Fixtures with integral dimmers
• AC motors and pumps

INSTALLATION
For ease of installation, Pass & Seymour/Legrand recommends use of a deep
wall box.
1. Disconnect power to circuit by turning circuit breaker OFF before installation.
2. Remove the existing wall plate and switch, if one is present.
3. Strip existing wires

. If two wires will be connected to the same terminal
on a LightSense™ device, both wires must be the same gauge (12AWG
or 14AWG).
4. Wire the LINE (black), LOAD, NEUT (white) and GND (green or bare) supply
and load wires to the correspondingly marked screw terminals, according to
the wiring diagram below.
5. Attach the wall plate.
6. Switch the circuit breaker back ON.

APPLICABLE CODES & STANDARDS.
Failure to follow these instructions may cause
personal injury or equipment damage.
CAUTION
TURN THE POWER OFF AT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER

OPERATION
Replacing Lamps
When a lamp must be replaced, tap to turn off the circuit. If you are
conducting maintenance on the load, turn off the circuit at the circuit breaker.
Power Fail Memory
After a power failure, all LightSense™ devices automatically return to the state
that they were in immediately prior to loss of power.
