1. Introduction
The GEO 40A is a multi-function alphanumeric POCSAG pager with high memory capacity
& large LCD display. It provides 4 keys for clear & simple operation and can be used as a
personal (on-site) pager, or alternatively, as a wide area information pager that can receive
data such as news, weather reports, etc…
2. General Description
2.1 Standard Functions
High contrast, dot matrix liquid crystal display with indicator icons, 20 characters x 2 rows.
15 level LCD contrast setting
Large memory capacity
Private Message: 65
Public Message: 100 (can be arbitrarily assigned to the 12 available public folders).
Message length: 239 characters.

When the message is received, the first line of each message is the call header
3. Operation Illustration
(1) Turn on the pager
When the pager is in “OFF” state, press “Read/Confirm” key for several seconds and the pager will
turn on with sound/vibration for 16 seconds. Press any key to stop the sound/vibration
Then the pager will be in standby mode
(2) TIME, ALARM, AUTO ON/OFF and MELODY function menu
Press “SELECT” key until the following menu appears.
Press
(Left key) and (Right key) to select TIME, ALARM, AUTO or MELODY setting.
Press “Read/Confirm” key to enter the setting screen.
I) TIME adjustment
Use ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ key to change the setting, use “Read/Confirm” key to confirm the current
setting & jump to the next field. The setting is finished after the day of week is confirmed.
II) Alarm Setting
Use ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ key to change setting, use “Read/Confirm” key to confirm the current setting
& jump to the next field.

III) AUTO on/off
Use ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ key to change setting, use “Read/Confirm” key to confirm the current setting
& jump to the next field. The sequence is ON time & then OFF time.
IV) MELODY
Use ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ key to select melody, then use ‘Read/Confirm’ key to confirm.
(3) CONTRAST, ALERT, MEMORY AND POWER OFF function menu
I) Press “SELECT” key until the following menu appear.
II) Press “Left” or “Right” key to select CONTRAST, ALERT, MEMORY or POWER OFF.
Press “Read/Confirm” key to confirm
III) CONTRAST adjustment
Use ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ key to change contrast, then use ‘Read/Confirm’ key to confirm.
IV) ALERT setting
If user selects “ALERT” the following menu is shown
If BUZZER (Beeper) is selected, the beeper will beep and the screen will change as below:

The buzzer icon is turned on
If MOTOR is selected, there will be a short vibration and the screen will change as below:
The Vibrate icon is turned on.
If MUTE is selected , then the following screen will be shown:
Buzzer (Beeper) and vibrate icon will not be displayed.
V) MEMORY
If MEMORY is selected and the memory is full, the following menu is shown:
If memory is not full, the remaining memory percentage will be shown
VI) Power off
The user may switch off the pager so as not to be disturbed. In this state, the pager will not receive
any messages.
Press “SELECT” key to choose “Power off” and then press the “Read/Confirm” key. The pager
will then enter the off mode.

(4) Messages Reading
I) Reading message
At the standby mode and the clock display mode, press “ Read/Confirm” key. There will be an
indication as follows:
If there are messages stored, the menu will be shown as follows:
Pressing the “Left” and “Right” keys, the messages can be viewed back & forth, press
“Read/Confirm” key to read the selected message:
After finished reading the last message, there will be an end of message indicator:
II) Messages: locking/unlocking/deleting
When reading a message, the user may lock/unlock/delete the message
When unlocking a message, the above menu will be shown when the “SELECT” key is pressed.
If the user chooses “Lock” and presses the “Read/Confirm” key, the message will be locked and
the pager will return to the message reading mode.

If DELETE is chosen, the pager will display the following menu:
the message will be deleted and the pager will return to the message reading mode.
If the message is already locked, the above menu will be shown. Select “Yes” and press
“Read/Confirm” to unlock the message.
If all messages are deleted, the display will read as follows:
This menu will remain for four seconds and will then return to the standby mode.
(5) Back Light Operation
Press “SELECT” and hold down for two seconds. The backlight will be turned on. When the
pager returns to the standby state & LCD is turned off, the backlight will be turned off
automatically.
(6) WA RN IN G
I) When “LOW CELL” is indicated, change the battery immediately. The battery should also be
removed from the pager when not in use for long periods. Failure to do so may result in the
battery leaking, which will cause irreparable damage to the pager and will invalidate any
warranty pertaining thereto.

This equipment is designed for indoor use, unless expressly stated otherwise, and must not be
used in classified Hazardous Areas, including areas containing explosive or flammable vapours,
unless express authorization has been given in writing by the manufacturer. If in doubt, consult
your local product dealer for further information.
Only use a damp cloth for cleaning (not liquid or aerosol based cleaners), and ensure that the
battery is removed from the unit prior to beginning the cleaning operation.
