1 Safety instructions
Remarks for safe use in hazardous areas.
• The product must only be installed, connected and set up by qualified staff. The qualified staff must
have knowledge of types of protection, regulations and provisions for apparatus in hazardous
areas.
• The classification and marking of the product must be suitable for the application.
• Adhere to the respective national regulations and provisions as well as the relevant installation
regulations.
• Observe applicable documents.
2 Intended use
Use in hazardous areas according to the classification:
ATEX classification Marking Permissible ambient temperature
II 3G Ex ec IIC Gc -20…60 °C
II 2D Ex tb IIIC Db IP65/IP67 -20...60 °C
Ambient temperature range for connection cables and jumpers with angled M12 plug and angled M12
sockets.
Type examination certificate:
• EU: BVS 08 ATEX E109 U
• IEC: IECEx BVS 08.0041 U
The requirements of the following standards are met:
• EN IEC 60079-0:2018, EN IEC 60079-7:2015/A1:2018, EN 60079-31:2014
• IEC 60079-0:2017, IEC 60079-7:2015/A1:2017, IEC 60079-31:2013
3 Installation
uProtect the product from destruction.
uAvoid electrostatic charging on the product.
uLay the cable firmly and protect it against damage.
uAvoid direct exposure to high levels of UV light (sunlight). Mount the product in a protected place.
uOnly open or close M12 fittings in a sufficiently clean environment.
uAlways close the connectors with a counterpart. They may be left open in the field only briefly for
servicing purposes.
3.1 Special conditions for safe operation
uAlways refer to the operating instructions for the marking, as it may not be fully applied to the
product due to lack of space.
uDo not separate the connector when energized.
uSecure the connector by tightening the coupling nut sufficiently. Tightening torque 1.2...1.5 Nm.
1. Hand-fasten the coupling nut (0.4...0.5 Nm).
