The Optimizer is the main controller and has the connec-
tion to the Air Handling Unit, the Router(s)/Connection
Unit(s) and any BMS systems. It also has its own inbuilt
web server with trend logging, alarm handling and graphical
views of the system down to room level.
Integration options include Modbus/RTU (EIA-485),
Modbus/TCP (Ethernet) & BACnet/IP.
The Router is used to split the system in to more manage-
able segments and allow more effi cient wiring while still
accommodating different shape buildings.
Integration options include Modbus/RTU (EIA-485),
Modbus/TCP (Ethernet).
The IPSUM® Connection Unit allows branch/room compo-
nents to be easily connected to the system. They can be
used to connect room controllers, dampers, chilled
beams, CO2 sensors, heating/cooling valves, e.t.c.
1.2 IPSUM® system example
1.2.1 IPSUM® components
IPSUM® is a system to optimize the supply and/or extract
pressure aswell as the supply air temperature while main-
taining the rooms climate requirements therefore saving
energy. It also allows a central connection to the HVAC
system by the BMS.
The system is made up of an IPSUM® System Optimizer,
optional IPSUM® System Router(s) and IPSUM® Connec-
tion Unit(s). The system can handle up to 30 Connection
Units (branches/rooms) per Router and up to 30 Routers
per Optimizer with a total limit of 300 Connection Units
(branches/rooms) in total (mixed across the 900 slots
available).
For smaller systems with up to 30 Connection Units
(branches/rooms) Routers are not required and the
Connection Units connect directly to the Optimizer.

Power
The IPSUM® System Optimizer can be powered with 230vac,
24vac or 24vdc. There is a dip-switch to select between 230v
and 24v and there are separate 230v and 24v terminals. A
24v output can be either ac or dc based on the input used.
If the input is 230vac or 24vac it will be a 24vac output. If a
24vdc input is used, it will be a 24vdc output.
1) Power Supply Input (selectable)
230vac +/- 10 %, 3-wire, 50Hz, 0.04A

Supervisor
There is an Ethernet socket for accessing the inbuilt Web
Server, Modbus/TCP & BACnet/IP.
There is a volt free relay output for indicating a common
alarm and 2 low voltage digital inputs for triggering fi re and
free cooling modes. The EIA-485 for Modbus/RTU with an
inbuilt 120Ω termination resistor can be activated using a dip-
switch, this has both terminal and RJ connections.

On fi rst accessing the page it will present you with a login dialog as below.
To connect to the IPSUM® System Optimizer’s inbuilt
web pages you can connect a computer directly to the
Optimizer’s supervisor ethernet port using a cross-over
patch cable,if your computer does not support automatic
detection, connect the Optimizer to a network with fi xed
IP addresses or to a network using DHCP where the
Optimizer is given an IP address (default).
If a fi xed IP address is needed to get fi rst contact with
the Optimizer to setup any of the above then it can be
put in to “Commissioning” mode using the “Comm/
Reset” push button located on the bottom next to the SD
card slot (by pushing the reset button for approximately
5 s until the green led starts fl ashing.
This will force the Optimizer to a fi xed IP address of
192.168.0.69 as long as the green light fl ashes.
To access the web pages you can either enter the IP
address of the Optimizer or use the WINS name, this is
always http://fwg-ipsum-xxxx where xxxx is the last
4 characters of the MAC address (printed on the end of
the product as below).

The tree has information icons added to the items in real time, as shown below:
Indication that an item below this item has an alarm (helpful when child items may be closed and not visible).
Indication that this item has an alarm.
Indication that this item is in balancing mode (also showing the tooltip that each indication gives when hovered over).
The tree has a context menu (Right-Click Menu) which changes based on the item it is accessed from, so if the main

If a router/zone item then it is as below:
If a level item then it is as below:
If a branch/room item then it is as below:
