SUMMARY: A software controlled fan timer has been designed and installed on all standard
production units having the model and serial numbers shown above. This modification requires an
updated display PCB, timer module (see figure) and wiring harness changes. The display PCB is
where the microprocessor resides and is an integral part of the PCB. The change is not
offered as a
field installed retrofit kit (factory installed only). The fan will work as follows:
1. Run for 30 seconds when power is first applied to the machine and then stop automatically if
welding current does not exceed 100 amps.
2. Will turn “ON” when the contactor is closed and welding current exceeds 100 amps.
3. Will automatically turn off after 6 minutes when the contactor is “OFF” and welding current is
below 100 amps.

OPERATIONAL IMPACT: This modification has no affect on the welding performance of the power
source and is offered as a no charge feature to lower the operational cost of the power source by not
running the fan when it is not need for cooling.
ACTION / COMMENT/ OPERATIONAL NOTE: This change requires an updated display and main
control PCB as well as a modified wiring harness. If any of these items are of an earlier revision or
manufacturing date, the fan will not operate as intended and will probably run all the time.
Replacement and/or repair PCB’s must be of the latest revisions.
