The VVX 500 handset features a touch screen, to use the touch screen tap to
select and highlight screen items. To scroll through a menu touch the screen
and swipe your finger in the direction you wish to scroll through the menu
To go back to a previous menu or screen, tap Back
Soft-keys are buttons which don’t have a fixed purpose. Depending on what
you are doing on the phone, the soft-keys will do different things. For example
the transfer soft key only shows up when you are actually in a call, as does the
conference button
On this model of phone the soft keys are shown on the touch screen so they
are referred to as their name rather than a soft key. You also tap the key rather
than press it.
Your phone has four main views: Home, Calls, Active Calls and Lines view.
For Home view from any menu, press
From Home View press to display either Lines, Calls or Active Call View
To switch between Lines View and either Calls or Active Call View, simply swipe
the screen with your finger

Home view displays icons you can tap to access phone functions:
Touch and hold to display fewer icons. Touch and hold or swipe the
screen to display more icons.
From Home View, tap your extension number (phone line) to display your
phone lines and favourites (see section how to add contacts as favourites),
which are contact you can dial by tapping their name. To go back, tap Close

Lines view displays phone lines, favourites and soft keys
If your phone is idle you can tap the phone line to access the dialler
Calls View displays a list of all your calls
Call colour indicates status:
Dark green - Active call
Dark blue- Incoming and held calls

Bright green Active call is highlighted
Bright blue incoming or held call is highlighted
Tap a call to highlight it. The soft keys apply to the highlighted call
Active Call View
If a phone line has only one active call and it’s active- you can access Active
Call View
Entering Data
Use the onscreen keyboard or the dialpad keys to enter information. To
backspace tap
To use the onscreen keyboard, tap
To type with the dialpad keys, press a key repeatedly to view the character
options and stay on the character to select it
To type other characters, tap Encoding or Mode. When using the dialpad keys,
use the 1, *, 0 and # keys
About Calls
Only one call can be active at one time
You can use the handset, speakerphone or headset for calls. During a call you
can change modes by picking up the hand or by pressing or

If you navigate away from your call(s), press to see Active Calls or Calls view
again
Making a Call
Pick up the handset, or press or .
From lines view: Press the phone line key, enter the phone number and tap
to make the call
From Lines View: Tap your extension icon, enter the phone number and tap
to make the call
From Home View: Tap New Call, enter the phone number, and tap to make
the call
Answering a Call
To answer with the handset pickup the handset
To answer with the speakerphone press or tap Answer
To answer with a headset press
To answer a new call whilst on an active call, press Answer. The current call will
be held (only active with call waiting feature enabled)
Ending a Call
To end an active call, replace the handset or press , or press , or tap End
Call
To end a held call, navigate to Calls View and highlight the held call. Tap
resume and tap End Call
Call Hold and Resume
From Lines, Calls or Active Call View, tap Hold.

If you’re in Calls View, remember to highlight the call first.
To resume a held call, tap resume from either Lines or Calls View
Mute / Un-mute
During your call, press the Mute button. To un-mute, press the Mute
button again.
During Mute you can hear the other party / parties, but they cannot hear you.
This applies to calls using the handset, headset and speakerphone
Call Transfer Announced
While on a call, tap the Transfer button on the screen, and call the other party.
When you hear the ring back tone, or after you talk with the other party, tap
transfer
Call Transfer Blind (unannounced)
While on a call tap the Transfer button and call the other party. Tap the Blind
key (located in the top right of the screen) to complete the transfer without
waiting for the ring back tone, this will transfer the call unannounced.
Three Way Conference Call
Call the first party, and after the call connects tap Confrnc. Dial and connect
with the second party and press Confrnc again
From Lines or Calls view you can;
Tap Hold to hold all participants
Tap End Call to end the conference
Tap Split to end the conference and hold all participants
Note: If you have an active and held call you can tap Join to setup a conference

Retrieving Voicemail
If you have been left a voicemail you will see a voicemail notification envelope
symbol and a new message notification scrolling at the top of the screen.
Follow the procedure below to retrieve voicemail messages.
An alternative option for voicemail notification is to use the PC Assistant
Toolbar under “Voice Messaging”. Here you have the option to request a
notification or carbon copy of the voicemail emailed to a specified e-mail
address.
Accessing the Voicemail Portal
From your desk phone:
Dial *62 or press the Messages button followed by the connect key, then enter
your passcode followed by the # key
From a phone other than your own :
Dial *62 or press the Messages button followed by the Connect key, press *
during the voicemail greeting then enter your passcode followed by the # key
Voicemail Settings
To change your voice portal passcode:
At the voice portal main menu select option 8 (change passcode)
Enter new passcode and press #
Enter new passcode again and press # to confirm
To change your name recording
At the voice portal main menu select option 3 (personalised name)
Press 1 to record your name
Press # when finished

To record a busy greeting:
Press 1 to access your voicemail box
Select option 2 (busy greeting menu)
Press 1 to record your busy greeting
Press # when finished
To record a no-answer greeting:
Press 1 to access your voicemail box
Select option 3 (no answer menu)
Press 1 to record your no answer greeting
Press # when finished
Forwarding Calls
To enable call forwarding tap Settings from Home View, and tap Features >
Forward. Tap the forwarding type to enable, type a forwarding number, and
tap Enable
To disable call forwarding, tap settings from Home View, and tap Features >
Forward. Tap the forwarding type to disable, and tap Disable
To enable per call forwarding; as your phone rings, tap Forward, enter the
forwarding number, and tap Forward to forward the call
Viewing Call History
To view your recent calls list, tap New Call from the Home View and tap Recent
From the Recent Calls list, tap to sort and order calls, tap to display only
certain calls, or tap a call record to call the person

Alternatively use the PC Assistant Toolbar, Call History feature (where
available) to view and call back missed, placed and received calls.
Contact Directory
To view your Directory Tap Directories from Home view, then Corporate
Directory. To search (Last Name only), tap to show the keyboard and type
the first few letters. Tap then hit Submit.
To add a contact navigate to your Contact Directory and tap Type the
contact’s information, and tap Save.
To update contact information Navigate to your Contact and tap the contact.
Tap , update the contact’s information and tap save
To delete a contact. Navigate to your Contact Directory and tap the contact.
Tap and tap Yes to confirm
To dial a contact from your Directory Navigate to your Contact Directory and
tap the contact. From the contact’s information screen, tap the contact’s
phone number
Favourites
Favourites are contacts you call most often. Favourites display in your
Favourites list and Lines View. They also display when you tap the phone line in
Home View.
To view your Favourites list from Home View, tap New Call and tap favourites
To make a contact a Favourite Navigate to your Contact Directory and tap
the contact. Tap Add to Favourites and tap Yes to confirm
To dial a Favourite- Tap the Favourite from Lines view or your Favourites list
To re-order your Favourites list. Update the contact’s Favourite index number
in the Contact Directory

Volume Keys
To change call volume press, during a call.
To change the ringer volume press, when the phone is idle or ringing
To change call volume on the loudspeaker press, followed by
