Telstra VVX 1500 Phone Guide
Your phone has a touch-sensitive screen. To
access features or obtain information, tap the
menu items, arrow keys, soft keys (the keys
along the bottom of the touch screen) and field
that display on the touch screen.
If you are required to initially configure your IP
phone you will be advised of the Username and
Password. This information only needs to be
entered once via the QSetup soft key.
Tap the QSetup soft key
Tap the Server User field
Enter the Server User credentials (obtain this
information from Telstra.
This number will be your phone number)
Tap the Server Password field
Tap the Mode soft key and tap 123 (to select
numbers)
Enter the Server password (obtain this
information from Telstra)
Tap Save Config to Save the Config
You will now need to manually reboot the phone
Press the Home button
Tap Settings
Tap Basic , swipe your finger up the screen and
Tap Restart Phone
Tap the Yes soft key (to confirm)
Note 1: Restarting the phone may take a few
minutes
Note 2: If your phone has been preconfigured
the QSetup soft key will not be visible
Note 3: This is only required for phones that are
on DMS (Device Management System)
platform.
Your phone displays video in 2 windows, a
small picture-in-picture (PIP) window at the top-
right of the touch screen, and a larger window
centred in the middle of the touch screen.
During a call, you can tap the PIP to swap
the windows the video displays in. You can
also display video on the entire screen (full
screen mode) by tapping the larger window.
Ensure you open the privacy shutter
(centred above the touch screen) using the
privacy shutter adjuster (centred above the
camera). You can also adjust the camera barrel
(located at the back of the camera) up or down.
If you require your phone to receive video and
not send video, follow the steps below to
disable the sending of video.
To enter the Main menu, tap Menu
Tap Settings, Basic, Video, Video Call
Settings
Tap Auto Start Video Tx set this to disabled
Tap the Save soft key
(All calls will have video from the phone
blocked)
If the user decides to send video during the call
Tap the Video soft key that comes up during
the call,
Tap the Start Video soft key that’s shown and
two way video is activated
During a video call, tap the Video soft key to do
the following:
To start or stop transmitting video, tap the Start
Video or Stop Video soft keys
To display the video that appears in the large
window on the entire screen, tap the Full
Screen soft key. To return to normal video, tap
the Full screen video
To toggle the video to display large far-site
video with PIP near-site video or vice versa, tap
the Swap soft key
To exit the video options, tap the Back soft key
Note: The video soft keys are NOT available
during audio-only calls

To enter the Main menu, tap
To return to the idle screen, tap
To select a menu item, tap the menu item
To go back to the previous menu, tap the Back
soft key
To select a soft key, tap the soft key
To select an option in a list, tap the option, then
tap the Select soft key
To scroll through menu items listed on more
than one screen, tap
To “Page Down” or “Page Up”, tap
During a call, press the to adjust the
call volume
While the phone is idle, to adjust the Ringer
volume, press the volume buttons.
Lift the handset and enter the required number
by tapping the touch screen or using the phone
keypad
With the handset on-hook, tap the NewCall soft
key, enter the phone number by tapping the
touch screen or using the phone keypad
Lift the handset OR
Tap the Answer soft key OR
Tap the green flashing bar icon (on the top
right of the screen)
Hang up the handset OR
Tap the End Call soft key
When a line is in use the flashing bar next to the
line display is a solid green light
When a call is on Hold the flashing bar next to
the line display will flash red
Tap the Hold soft key, or press the Hold button
To return to the call
Tap the Resume soft key or press the Hold
button
To make another call while the original caller is
on hold
Tap the New Call soft key, enter the required
number
If multiple calls are on hold
Tap the call on hold to select it
Tap the Resume soft key, or press the Hold
button
To Join all three parties onto an impromptu
conference call
With 2 calls in progress (1 call on hold and 1
call active)
Tap Join
While Mute is activated, you can hear all other
parties, however they cannot hear you.
During a call press the mute button
(The mute button is illuminated in red)
To turn off mute, press the mute button
again
Blind Transfer enables you to transfer a call to
another party without announcing the call prior
to transfer.
During a Call tap the Transfer soft key
Tap the Blind soft key
Enter the transfer destination number
Your call will be transferred automatically.
Supervised Transfer enables you to transfer a
call to another party with consultation.
During a Call press the Transfer soft key
Enter the transfer destination number
Press the Send soft key (if dialling internally)
When the party answers, announce the call
Press the Transfer soft key again to complete the
transfer.
If the party refuses the call (prior to completing
the transfer)
Press the Cancel soft key to be returned to the
original caller.

There are 3 Call forward options which can be
set from your handset using either soft keys or
Feature Access Codes; Call Forward Always,
Call Forward No Answer, Call Forward Busy.
To forward all your calls to another number:
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap Always
Enter the required number to which to forward
your calls
Tap the Enable soft key
An arrow is displayed on the phone
screen next to your phone number.
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap Always
Tap Disable
To forward your calls to another number if not
answered after a specified number of rings
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap No Answer
Enter the required number to which to forward
your calls
Tap the screen to select the Forward After
Rings field and enter the required number of
rings (20 rings is the default)
Tap the Enable soft key
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap Call Forward No Answer
Tap Disable
To forward your calls to another number if you
are engaged on a call
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap Busy
Enter the required number to which to forward
your calls
Tap the Enable soft key
Tap the Forward soft key
Tap Busy
Tap Disable
Note: The Do Not Disturb feature is only
available if a user has an Executive service
pack assigned to them.
Press Do Not Disturb button,(the DND
button glows red)
OR
The Do Not Disturb Service has been turned on.
Your phone will not ring while this service is on.
Press Do Not Disturb button
OR
The Do Not Disturb Service has been turned off.
While engaged in one call:
Tap the Conference soft key, or press the Conf
button
Enter the required number or extension of the
second party
When the call connects
Tap the Conference soft key, or press the Conf
button.
All parties are connected in a three-way call.
To end the conference but keep the other
participants connected
Tap the End Call soft key
To start and stop the transmission of video
Tap the Video soft key, to start
Tap the Stop Video soft key, to stop
Note: If either of the other two parties hangs
up, your call with the remaining party stays
intact. If you hang up, the other two parties
will be disconnected
Note: There can be a maximum of 3 parties
on a conference call, unless you have the
Executive service pack which has the N-
Way feature which enables a total of 8
parties on a Conference call.

If the Call Waiting feature has been turned
on, while engaged in a call:
Call Waiting tone indicates another call to your
line.
Tap the Answer soft key to switch to and
answer the incoming call.
The initial call is automatically placed on
hold.
By tapping the screen you can toggle between
calls, tap the call that is on hold.
Tap the Resume soft key to resume your
conversation.
You cannot receive additional calls while both
lines are engaged.
To organise a multipoint video conference,
include your Virtual Meeting Room (VMR)
phone number in your meeting invite.
To start the Video conference, as a Host
(organiser)
Dial your VMR phone number
To start the conference, press #, then enter
your Meeting Room PIN, followed by #
As a Guest (invitee) dial the VMR phone
number at the time of the meeting
The conference will commence for all
participants.
If the Host has not initiated the meeting the
guest/s will be placed in a virtual waiting room
until the Host joins.
To add or edit a contact:
Tap Menu
Tap Features
Tap Contact Directory
Tap the Add soft key
Tap the Edit soft key
Tap a field, then add or edit the information
required.
the only mandatory field is the Contact (phone
number) field
Tap Save to confirm changes
Tap to return to the idle screen

Tap Features
Tap Contact Directory
Tap the More then the Search soft keys and
enter the first few characters of the contact’s
first or last name
Tap Search to view your list
Tap a Contact and tap the Dial soft key to call
the contact
Tap to return to the idle screen

Tap the More
Select the contact to be deleted
Tap Delete
Tap to return to the idle screen
To use a Call List:
Tap Menu
Tap Features
Tap Call Lists
Tap either Missed, Received or Placed Calls
Tap the required call for information to display
With the list on the screen
Tap the Dial soft key
With the list on the screen
Tap the required call, then tap the Clear soft
key
Tap the More soft key, then tap the Save soft
key
A Missed call icon will appear in the top
left hand corner of the screen indicating how
many calls have been missed
Tap the Missed calls icon
Slide the scroll bar to scroll down or up

Tap the call to highlight it
Tap the Clear soft key
Tap the Exit soft key to return to the main
screen
To change your ring type:
Tap Menu
Tap Settings
Tap Basic
Tap Ring Type
Tap a ring type option
Tap the Play soft key to listen to the tune
Tap the Select soft key to make that ring type
your default
Tap to return to the idle screen
To disable your phone from automatically
transmitting video at the start of all calls
Tap Menu on the screen
Tap Settings (option 3)
Tap Basic (option 1)
Tap Video (option 5)
Tap Video Call Settings
Tap the Auto Start Video T x field’s highlighted
box
From the drop down list, tap Disabled
Tap the Save soft key
Tap to return to the idle screen
To change the Backlight display of the
phone screen
Tap the Menu button

Tap the Backlight display (or press 3)
Tap Backlight On Intensity and choose either
High, Medium or Low
Tap Save
Tap Backlight Idle Intensity and choose either
High, Medium or Low
Tap Save
Tap Maximum Intensity
Tap the Up or Down soft key to adjust the
intensity
Tap Save
Tap the Back soft key to return to the previous
screen
To specify the Headset memory
Tap the Menu button
Tap the Settings (or press 3)
Tap the Basic (or press 1)
Tap the Preferences (or press 1)
Tap the Headset (or press 3)
Tap Headset Memory
Tap Enable (a will appear in the Enable
check box to ensure this is selected)
To enable the Jabra DHSG headset
Tap the Menu button
Tap the Settings (or press 3)
Tap the Basic (or press 1)
Tap the Preferences (or press 1)
Tap the Headset (or press 3)
Tap Headset Memory
Tap Disable
Tap the Back soft key
Tap Analog Headset Mode (or press 2)
Tap Jabra DHSG
Tap the Back soft key
The Jabra Headset requires a setting change
On the scroll button on the headset stand
Press > to go to Electronic Hook switch ( 2nd
option)
Scroll down and select DHSG (3rd option)
Press the Messages button or dial the Voice
Portal number (ask your Group Administrator
what this is).
Enter a passcode, when prompted; after your
initial login you will need to change your
passcode.
It is essential your passcode be changed
for security reasons. It is important to keep
your new passcode private.
Record your name when prompted
Press the hash key (#)
Follow the prompts to save the recording, or re-
record your name

Press the Messages (MSG) Button, or dial the
Voice Portal extension.
Enter your passcode followed by the hash key
(#).
Press the Messages (MSG) button or dial the
