Trusted 16 Channel 120 Vac Digital Output FTA
Product Overview
The Trusted® 16 Channel 120 Vac Digital Output Field Termination Assembly (FTA) T8871 is
designed to act as the main interface between the Trusted Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) 120
Vac Digital Output Module T8472 and a field device. The signal from the output module is digital at
120 Vac.
Features:
16 output channels per FTA.
Industry standard field device connections (3-wire).
Standard DIN rail compatibility.
Simple installation and connection.
120 Vac operation.
Transient protection on each channel.
Field terminal wire size allowance 12 AWG to 24 AWG.

SCOPE
This manual specifies the maintenance requirements and describes the procedures to assist
troubleshooting and maintenance of a Trusted system.
WHO SHOULD USE THIS MANUAL
This manual is for plant maintenance personnel who are experienced in the operation and
maintenance of electronic equipment and are trained to work with safety systems.

MAINTENANCE

should be exercised with regard to the use of portable communications equipment

The module PCBs contains static sensitive components. Static handling precautions
must be observed. DO NOT touch exposed connector pins or attempt to dismantle a
module.

The Trusted 16 Channel 120 Vac Digital Output FTA T8871 provides termination for a
maximum of 16 output channels. Figure 2 below shows the configuration of a single
channel.

The supply for the field is connected via terminal blocks TB2 (Group 1) and TB4 (Group 2) on
the FTA. This is supplied to the module on sockets SK2 and SK4 via harmonic and transient
protective devices as shown.
The output signals to the field (16-off) are connected from the module on sockets SK1 and
SK3. TB1 and TB3 provide screw terminals for field wiring.

Trusted 16 Channel 120 Vac Digital Input FTA T8871 is designed to be mounted on either of
the TS32 or TS35 DIN rails in the horizontal or vertical positions as required.
