About the archive viewer
cobas
®
prime Archive Viewer is a stand-alone software
which allows you to view archived data generated on the
system.
The archive viewer is delivered as a separate executable
file. The user interface is based on the same tab, panel,
and navigation concepts used by the system.
System requirements
The minimum system requirements for using the archive
viewer are as follows:

Installing the archive viewer
The archive viewer is a stand-alone software that you
can install on any compatible PC. An installation wizard
guides you through the installation process.

m A PC with the Windows 10 operating system
r To install the archive viewer
1 Copy the archive viewer installer file to your PC
(ArchiveViewer.zip).
2 Extract the files from the .zip file to the desired folder.
3 Open the folder named with the software version, and
then open the "Installer" folder.
4 Double-click the setup.exe file.
f The installation wizard starts.
5 In the welcome page of the installation wizard,
choose the Next button.
6 Choose the Install button.
7 When the installation is complete, choose the Finish
button.
f The archive viewer is installed. A shortcut to start
the software is created on your desktop.

Importing an archive file
The archive viewer allows you to import archived data
from the cobas
®
prime Pre-analytical System.
About the archive files fom the system
The archive files generated by the system are stored in
the location configured in this panel: Administration >
Service settings > Data storage.
The Archive maintenance action generates 3 separate
files:
.index file for quick search
.archive file with metadata
.part0 file with the data

If you move the files to a different location (e.g.,
from the your system’s storage location to your
local computer), ensure that you transfer the
complete set of files.

r To import an archive file
1 In the Loaded archives group box, choose the
Import archive button.
2 In the Import archive dialog box, browse to the
archive file that you want to load, and then choose
the Open button.
3 In the File is loading dialog box, choose the Load
button.

You can load several archive files.
f The selected archive file is added to the Loaded
archives group box.

Viewing archived audit trails
With the archive viewer, you can view archived audit trail
entries.
All interactions between users and the system are logged
in an audit trail that is archived regularly. The audit trail
provides a secure, computer-generated, time-stamped
record of user activities.
You can view current audit trail entries directly in the
system.

1 In the Loaded archives group box, select the archive
files that you want to view.
2 Choose the Audit trail tab.
f The audit trail entries logged in the selected
archive files are displayed in the main panel.
3 To view the details of an entry, select it in the table.
f The details about the selected entry are displayed
in the detail panel.

Viewing archived user messages
With the archive viewer, you can view archived user
messages received by all users in the system.
All user messages from the system to the users are
logged. User messages are included in the archive file.
You can view current user messages directly in the
system.

1 In the Loaded archives group box, select the archive
files that you want to view.
2 Choose the User messages tab.
f The user messages logged in the selected archive
files are displayed in the main panel.
3 To view the details of a user message, select it in the
table.

Viewing archived sample data
With the archive viewer, you can view archived sample
data about samples processed in the system.
The details of any sample loaded in the system and its
tracking information are logged. Details about samples
and their tracking are included in the archive file. Patient
information is not logged.
You can view current sample data directly in the system.

files that you want to view.
2 Choose the Archive data tab.
f The sample data logged in the selected archive
files are displayed in the main panel.
3 To view the details of a sample, select it in the table.

Searching for data in archive files
Apart from searching for data directly in each table, you
can also perform a quick search.

1 Choose the button.
2 In the Loaded archives group box, select the archive
files that you want to view.
3 In the Quick search group box, enter your search
parameters, and then choose the Search button.

To reduce the amount of search results, select a
date range using the date pickers.

Filtering and sorting tables
The tables in each tab include filtering and sorting
options for managing the information displayed.
About sorting
Tables can be sorted by their columns. The and
icons indicate that the table is sorted by that column and
in which order.
About filtering
To reduce the number of entries, you can apply custom
filters. Depending on the panel, the filtering criteria can
display different selections.
r To sort a table
1 Choose the column header that you want to use to
sort the table.
f The icon displayed in the header indicates the
order in which the chosen column is sorted.
: ascending order.
: descending order.
2 If you want to sort the table in the opposite order,
choose the column header again.
r To filter a table
1 On the panel displaying the table, choose the
button.
f The filter panel is displayed.
2 From the Filter by drop-down list, choose the criteria
you want to filter by, and then choose the Apply
button.
I
To group the filtered data, choose the value to
group by from the Group by drop-down list.
To sort the filtered data, choose the column to
sort by from the Sort by drop-down list.
To add more criteria, choose the button in the
corresponding row.
f The matching data is displayed.

Exporting data as a PDF file
You can export data from a table or the details of a table
entry as a PDF file.
r To export data from a table
1 In the table, use the filters to display the data that you
want to export.
2 In the main panel, choose the button, and then
choose your preferred option:
Export overview
Export overview and details
3 Select the location where you want to save the export
file, and then choose the Export button.
r To export details from a table entry
1 In the table, select the table entry that you want to
export.
2 In the detail panel, choose the button, and then
choose the Export details button.
3 Select the location where you want to save the export
file, and then choose the Export button.
