Always use non-foaming chemical for effective cleaning and proper pump and water level sensor
operation. Follow manufacturer's recommendations for amount of chemical to be used.
Before servicing or cleaning washer/disinfector, always turn Lock/Unlock key selector to Lock position to
prevent doors from closing and cycle from starting. Keep the key on yourself.
If an obstruction is present in the wash chamber door, the obstruction detection system will detect an
obstruction and the door will automatically stop from closing. Wait until the door is fully open before
removing obstruction.
Regularly scheduled routine maintenance, as well as preventive maintenance, are required for safe and
reliable operation of this equipment. Routine maintenance procedures are explained in this manual. For
preventive maintenance, contact STERIS to schedule preventive maintenance or obtain the necessary
Maintenance Manual if preventive maintenance is done by the Customer.
Repairs and adjustments to this equipment must be made only by STERIS or STERIS-trained service
personnel. Repairs and adjustments performed by unqualified personnel or installation of unauthorized
parts could cause personal injury, result in improper equipment performance, void the warranty or result
in costly damage. Contact STERIS regarding service options.

WARNING
PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Always verify door bridge is down before entering and exiting washer/disinfector chamber.
Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves and faceshield, when
cleaning or removing debris from bottom of chamber and from debris screen. Surfaces are very hot after
a cycle is completed and residual water could splash on skin and in eyes.
Bar code reader (accessory) emits laser radiation. Do not stare at bar code reader beam.
Due to the size of the equipment, it may be necessary during installation, repairs or maintenance to
conduct work on TOP of the equipment. Customer is responsible for ensuring that necessary fall
protection safeguards are in place, including those required by applicable safety regulations and
standards such as those promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
In case of an emergency, press Emergency Stop pushbutton or pull one of the emergency stop cables to
stop washer/disinfector.
Items in rack may move during processing and be filled with residual hot water or protrude from rack at
the end of the cycle. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and carefully remove
items from rack.
Keep away from service door area when washer door opens to avoid crushing hazard.
Keep hands and fingers away from door or any moving parts to prevent crushing.
Never perform cleaning of washer/disinfector chamber until cycle has been completed. If cycle has not
been completed, contaminated debris or water may remain in bottom of chamber.
To open doors from inside washer/disinfector chamber, pull one of the emergency stop cables; doors
slightly open. Push on one of the doors to exit chamber.
To prevent tipping, place the biggest and heaviest items on the lower levels of the rack.
WARNING
POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD
When washer/disinfector is installed on a combustible floor, floor must be covered with a metal sheet
extending to the outer edges of washer/disinfector.

WARNING
ELECTRIC SHOCK AND/OR BURN HAZARD
Fasteners and star washers are used to ensure protective bonding continuity. Always reinstall any star
washer which may have been removed during installation or servicing.
Placing washer Power ON/OFF toggle switch in OFF position to turn off washer/disinfector DOES NOT cut
off electrical power. Lockout/Tagout building electrical disconnect switch to cut power to
washer/disinfector for maintenance or repairs.
Repairs and adjustments to this equipment must be made only by STERIS or STERIS-trained service
personnel. Service personnel must disconnect all utilities to unit before servicing. No one should service
unit unless all utilities have been properly locked out. Always follow local electrical codes and safety-
related work practices.
WARNING
CHEMICAL BURN AND/OR EYE INJURY HAZARD
Chemicals are caustic and can cause adverse effects to exposed tissues. Do not allow chemicals used in
the washer/disinfector to contact eyes, skin or do not attempt to swallow. Read and follow the
precautions and instructions on the chemical label and in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to handling
the chemical, refilling the chemical container or servicing the chemical injection pump. Wear appropriate
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whenever handling the chemical or servicing the chemical injection
pump and lines.
Wear gloves and eye protection when using a chemical. Avoid contact with eyes or skin. if spilled or
splashed, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical
attention immediately.
WARNING
SLIPPING HAZARD
To prevent slips, keep floors dry. Promptly clean up any spills or drippage. For spills or drippage of
detergents or other chemicals, follow safety precautions and handling procedures set forth on detergent
or chemical label and/or Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
WARNING
BURN HAZARD
Allow washer/disinfector to cool down before performing any service on pump, mechanical components
or piping. Surfaces become very hot during washer/disinfector operation.
In an emergency, first stop cycle by pressing Emergency Stop pushbutton. Wait until water flow stops
before opening door. Once door is opened, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
whenever entering the chamber to unload washer/disinfector.

Inner surfaces of chamber, surgical case carts and racks are very hot after cycle is completed. Allow
washer/disinfector to cool down before entering chamber. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE), including gloves and faceshield, and avoid all contact with inner walls when entering
chamber.
When removing reservoir cover, always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including
gloves and faceshield to prevent burns from water solution splashes or steam.
WARNING
INEFFECTIVE PROCESS HAZARD
Customer is responsible for validating the performances of their own customized cycles. STERIS does not
recommend setting cycle parameters below those validated cycles.
CAUTION
POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Always leave plenty of space between load and door before opening load door. Leaning load against door
will damage door and also prevent it from opening or closing.
Always select a cycle appropriate for the items being processed. Failure to do so may result in product
damage.
Items processed in the washer/disinfector must tolerate temperatures and chemicals specified in this
manual. Always follow instrument manufacturer recommendations for cleaning instructions.
Use nonabrasive cleaners when cleaning washer/disinfector. Follow directions on containers and rub in a
back-and-forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Abrasive cleaners will damage stainless steel.
Cleaners rubbed in a circular motion or applied with a wire brush or steel wool on cabinet and chamber
assemblies can be harmful to stainless steel. Do not use these cleaners on painted surfaces.
When choosing a detergent, select one with a low-chloride content. Detergents with a high-chloride
content must not be used, as such detergents may harm stainless steel.
Wipe all plastic surfaces or painted surfaces with 70% isopropyl alcohol cleaner (such as glass or
countertop cleaners).
