CONTENT CUSTOMER INFORMATION
To maximise the life expectancy of the UVC disinfection system please
carefully study this Operating and Maintenance manual carefully and
store in a safe place.
All installation, maintenance and cleaning work described in this Manual
must only be undertaken by authorised and suitably trained personnel.
Please adhere scrupulously to the safety and hazard notes on the
following pages and ensure that those who are entrusted with cleaning
and maintaining the disinfection system are also familiar with them.
Stickers are attached on access doors in the factory. Their purpose is
to remind the user to switch off the disinfection system before opening
the access doors – this is for safety reasons.

HAZARD – DANGEROUS OPTICAL RADIATION
The UV-C lamps of the UV disinfection system
emit UV-C radiation. When properly fitted, they
are concealed; the radiation they emit only acts
on the ambient airflow and is harmless to the
user. However, unprotected visual contact with
the UV-C lamps when switched on must be
avoided at all costs. It could result in painful
conjunctivitis and skin irritation.
HAZARD – DANGEROUS VOLTAGE
Always switch off the control box before opening
the access doors.
The control box must also be secured as set
out in the Heavy Current Ordinance. A qualified
specialist must check compliance with this basic
safety precaution. The manufacturer is not liable
for injury or damage due to a missing or discon-
tinuous earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
The control box may only be used with the
installation components described. Otherwise,
there is a risk of injury or other health problems
from UV-C light.
The control box is only intended for use as
described in this Operating and Maintenance
Manual. Any other use is expressly discouraged.
The manufacturer is not liable for injury or
damage due to inappropriate use.
In the event of a fault on the control box, switch
it off immediately and contact FläktGroup.
1. SAFETY AND HAZARD NOTES

2. SCOPE OF DELIVERY
The FläktGroup delivery includes the following installation components*
as standard:
AHU section include UV-C lamps but not mounted. The UV-C lamps
are delivered in cardboards in the unit.
Control box
Safety stickers attached on access doors.
The following components are assumed to be present at the installation
site:
Power supply
* All components delivered by FläktGroup that come into contact with
UV-C radiation are of UV-C resistant design.
3. FUNCTION
The disinfection system neutralises air-borne bacteria and viruses. The
growth rate of pathogens and the potential risk of infection from them
via the air circulation system is effectively reduced as a result.
During the UV-C disinfection process, the air flows directly over special
lamps (UV-C lamps) that emit UV-C radiation. Irradiation of the air flow
neutralises the bacteria and viruses.
In the version of the UV modules as delivered, the ballasts are
incorporated in the actual modules.
The disinfection is installed in an AHU section upstream/downstream
of a fan. The ballasts are integrated in the stainless steel frames of the
modules This Operating Manual relates to the IB version.

5. DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPONENTS IN CB MINI
The UV disinfection system consists of the following components:
One or more UV modules installed either in the Air Handling Unit. In
addition, installation upstream or downstream of the main part of the
AHU.
A multi-part safety mechanism, consisting of:
- Door safety switch which causes the UV system to switch off
immediately the inspection doors of the UV-C section are opened.
The UV modules switch back on after a time delay once the door
is closed again.
Automatic control of the UV modules is via the automatic program
of the AHU system, i.e. via the enable signal. The UV modules are
monitored for power consumption, function and operating hours.
A control box: This is for controlling the system, counting the
operating hours and monitoring all components of the disinfection
system to ensure they are working properly.
6. REQUIREMENTS FOR SAFE AND EFFICIENT
OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM IN CB MINI
The following requirements must be met for optimum disinfection
efficiency and safe operation of the system.
6.1 Site requirements at the customer’s premises
1. Air of the specified parameters (temperature, speed) must be drawn
or blown through the disinfection modules in a uniform manner.
The UV modules should be distributed uniformly across the cross-
section.
6.2 Installation
1. The manner in which the system is installed must ensure that a
maximum effective ir-radiance of 0.00001 mW/cm
2
is not exceeded
in the occupied zone
2. The air velocity at the UV-C lamps must be approximately 2 m/s.
3. The air temperature measured at the UV-C lamps must be between
-20°C and 50°C. A maximum temperature of 50°C must never be
exceeded.
6.3 Operation
1. Close the inspection door and keep it fully closed during operation
of the system. If the inspection door is open, there is a risk of
optical radiation from UV-C rays. This can cause extremely painful
conjunctivitis and skin irritation.
2. Before opening the inspection door, e.g. for maintenance or cleaning
purposes, the UV disinfection system must be fully switched off and
secured against being switched back on.
3. Make sure that the ventilation system is in good working order.
It should always be switched on during operation of the UV
disinfection system to ensure the bacterial and viral rate is kept to a
low level.
4. The mechanical safety components (limit switch and, where
applicable, pressure monitor) must be cleaned so that they are
completely free of any residue. Please follow our notes on cleaning
and maintaining the UV-C lamps and the safety mechanism
(chapter 16).

7.1 Installation instruction CB Mini
The device
has been constructed and tested in accordance with IEC 60730-1
Automatic electrical controls for household and similar use. General
requirements”,
is CE certified and
left the factory in good order without safety defects.
To maintain this condition, the content of these safety notes and the
rating plates, labels and safety notes attached to the device must be
observed when handling the device (transport, storage, installation,
commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommissioning). Failure to
do so could endanger the safety of others and cause damage to the
product itself and other facilities.
These safety notes apply in the German Federal Republic. For use
in other countries, you must comply with the relevant national
regulations. In addition to the notes provided in this Operating Manual,
you must comply with the general safety and accident prevention
regulations. If the information contained in these safety notes proves to
be insufficient, you may contact FläktGroup.
Please check the packaging and report any damage immediately.
The device may only be installed and commissioned by a qualified
electrician who is familiar with the relevant hazards.
Prior to commissioning, make sure the device is free of any damage.
If in doubt, take advice from a qualified electrician or contact your
supplier.
Prior to commissioning, check that the operating voltage of the
device matches the mains voltage.
If the device is moved directly from a cold environment to a warm
environment, there may initially be some condensation. Wait until
the temperature has adjusted. Commissioning when condensation is
present could prove fatal!
Repairs and replacement of fuses may only be performed by
authorised personnel. Please contact your supplier or FläktGroup.
Where safe operation is no longer held to be possible, the device
must be taken out of service and secured against inadvertent
operation.

if the device has visible damage,
if the device no longer works,
where it has been stored under detrimental conditions,
where it has been subjected to serious stresses in transit.
Before cleaning: Switch off the mains! Use a mild cleaning agent with
a moist cloth for cleaning. Never clean when dripping wet!
Wiring notes:
Always make sure that the cable is connected only using the cable
glands intended for the purpose. If the wiring connection differs from
that indicated in the mechanical layout, the controller may malfunction
or other devices in the vicinity may be impaired. No wires may be
connected across the electronics inside the housing. Control and
signal cables must never be routed in the same cable duct or harness
as cables that carry loads – this also applies outside the housing. All
cables must be dimensioned according to the standard for current
capacity.
Use as intended:
This controller has been developed to control UV-C elements. They
are switched based on external control switches and their function is
monitored.
Connection of up to four module frames with lamp outputs up to 2000
VA (4 x 500 VA) is permitted. The device is of modular design and
consists of:
A control box accommodated in a plastic housing (IP65).
A display unit in an aluminium die cast or plastic housing, depending
on the version.
7.2 Functional description CB Mini
After switching on the power supply (main switch), the system starts
in automatic mode.
The green “On” LED on the front of the display element and a “ready for
operation” relay output indicate that the controller is ready for operation
(relay contact is closed).
Activation and deactivation of the control electronics is via the “On/Off”
button on the display element.
Attention!
Only auxiliary power is enabled.
The system can only be enabled via the main
switch.
Attention!
Make sure adequate protection against
electrostatic discharge is provided when installing
the device.
Installation notes:
Make sure that the device is installed as far away as possible from
major sources of interference. Examples are solenoid coils, transform-
ers, frequency inverters, etc.
Attention!
If no faults are present, the lamps illuminate after
a delay of approximately 1 minute and all other
LEDs on the display unit go out.

If a fault is present – e.g. access door is open, there is a pressure drop
in the fan, there is an external fault message for a module, lamp cur-
rent is low (the lamp current is continually monitored via an integrated
power measurement on the electronics unit) – the relevant LED on the
display unit comes on and “fault” is output via a relay contact (quies-
cent current contact, opens when there is a fault).
If a fault is present on the door switch or the vacuum/fan monitor, the
UV-C lamps immediately switch off automatically, and, after a delay
(2 seconds), a fault message is output via the “fault” relay contact. All
other faults are only indicated on the operating unit and have no further
influence on operation of the lamps.
A faulty lamp is indicated with a 4-minute delay.
The system will not start up again until the fault is rectified; it will then
start automatically after a 1-minute delay.
An internal operating hours counter monitors lamp lifetime.
If the yellow “change UV lamp” LED on the display unit flashes, this
indicates that the lamp will soon have to be replaced. This is generally
once there are fewer than 500 hours of operating time remaining.
Contact FläktGroup for ordering spares.
Once the maximum recommended operating time has finally elapsed,
the yellow “change UV lamp” LED lights up continually (but the system
will remain ready for operation).
Attention!
Parts of the controller are live.
Make sure that you do not touch them.
7.3 Measuring the lamp current for monitoring the lamps
Make sure the lamps have first heated up to their operating
temperature (lamps should have been operating for at least five
minutes) before starting this measurement process, so that the rated
power input is reached.
1. Switch off the power supply to the controller using the “On/Off”
button on the display unit.
2. Set the internal dip switch S2-1 to “ON” (ignore the fault messages
for the pressure monitor and door switch).
3. Switch on the power supply to the controller using the “On/Off”
button on the display unit.
4. Then briefly press the internal button “S1”.
All lamps are switched on and should light up.
Now the power input of the lamps is measured automatically,
signalled by the “UV lamp” LED flashing. This process may take up
to 20 seconds.
Once the lamp current has been successfully calibrated, this LED
goes out.
If the lamp current could not be measured correctly, this LED will
light up continuously for approximately 5 seconds. Check that the
lamps work and repeat this process if necessary.
5. Switch off the power supply to the controller using the “On/Off”
button on the display unit.
6. Reset the dip switch S2-1 to “OFF”.
7. Press the “On/Off” switch to switch the system to operating mode.
The green “On” LED must come on
Attention!
The lamp current must be remeasured each
time a lamp is replaced.
7.4 After replacing a lamp, reset the operating hours counter.
1. Switch off the controller by pressing the “On/Off” button on the
display unit.
2. Set the dip switch S2-2 to “ON”.
3. Switch on the controller by pressing the “On/Off” button on the
display unit.
4. Then hold down the internal button “S1” for approximately
10 seconds.
During this time, the yellow “change UV lamp” LED will flash.
If resetting of the operating hours counter was successful, this lamp
will go out.
If resetting of the counter was unsuccessful, the “UV lamp” LED will
flash briefly.
5. The button can be released.
6. Switch off the power supply to the controller using the “On/Off”
button on the display unit.
7. Reset the dip switch S2-2 to “OFF”.
8. Press the “On/Off” switch to switch the system to the normal
operating modes again.
The green “On” LED must come on.

7.8 Electrical connection
Supply voltage:
The controller is connected to the mains power supply via a 3-way
screw terminal.
The supply cable cross-section must be within the range 3 x 1.5 mm²
to 3 x 2.5 mm². It requires an upstream 16 A residual current circuit
breaker (tripping characteristic B or C).
A two-way isolating device between the device and the mains must
be provided near the device in easy reach of the user and should
be marked as such. The mains supply must be protected by a 16 A
residual current circuit breaker (tripping characteristic B or C).

The supply can be routed via a permanently installed
cable (main switch required) or via a plug with earth-
ing contact and matching socket (no main switch

To switch on the module frames (UV-C lamps), the limit switches or
contacts must be closed. Indication that these monitoring inputs are
ready for operation (and therefore free of any faults) is given by the
green LEDs H1 to H4.

Connection of up to four module frames with a total output of up to
2000 VA (4 x 500 VA) is permitted. The circuit state of the associated
power relay is indicated by LED H5.
Alarm output / Ready for operation:
The contact for the fault message output is closed if no fault is
present and open in the event of a fault. The contact for the “ready for
operation” message is closed once the controller is switched on via
the main switch or via the “On/Off” switch (“On” LED on the display unit
comes on). The circuit states of the relays is indicated by LEDs H6
and H7.

The DP Mini Hood display unit comes supplied with a LIYCY 7 x 0.34
mm² cable with pre-assembled connection at one end, length 3 m.
The DP Mini Wall display unit is fitted with spring-loaded terminals and
must be connected at both ends.
Both units must be connected to the control box in line with the colour
markings of the individual wires.

In addition to the display unit, the outputs can be tapped in parallel,
where needed. In this case, twin ferrules must be used. The outputs
are designed to switch to ground and can be loaded with up to 50 mA.

9. DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPONENTS IN CB MAXI
The UV disinfection system consists of the following components:
One or more UV modules installed either in the Air Handling Unit. In
addition, installation upstream or downstream of the main part of the
AHU.
A multi-part safety mechanism, consisting of:
- Door safety switch which causes the UV system to switch off
immediately the inspection doors of the UV-C section are opened.
The UV modules switch back on after a time delay once the door
is closed again.
Automatic control of the UV modules is via the automatic program
of the AHU system, i.e. via the enable signal. The UV modules are
monitored for power consumption, function and operating hours.
A control box: This is for controlling the system, counting the
operating hours and monitoring all components of the disinfection
system to ensure they are working properly.
10. REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION AND
EFFECTIVE OPERATION OF THE DISINFECTION
SYSTEM IN CB MAXI
The following requirements must be met for optimum disinfection
efficiency and safe operation of the system.
10.1 Site requirements at the customer’s premises
1. Air of the specified parameters (temperature, speed) must be drawn or
blown through the disinfection modules in a uniform manner.
The UV modules should be distributed uniformly across the cross-
section.
10.2 Installation
1. The manner in which the system is installed must ensure that a
maximum effective ir-radiance of 0.00001 mW/cm2 is not exceeded in
the occupied zone
2. The air velocity at the UV-C lamps must be approximately 2 m/s.
3. The air temperature measured at the UV-C lamps must be between
-20°C and 50°C. A maximum temperature of 50°C must never be
exceeded.
10.3 Operation
1. Close the inspection door and keep it fully closed during operation
of the system. If the inspection door is open, there is a risk of optical
radiation from UV-C rays. This can cause extremely painful conjunctivitis
and skin irritation.
2. Before opening the inspection door, e.g. for maintenance or cleaning
purposes, the UV disinfection system must be fully switched off and
secured against being switched back on.
3. Make sure that the ventilation system is in good working order. It should
always be switched on during operation of the UV disinfection system
to ensure the bacterial and viral rate is kept to a low level.
4. The mechanical safety components (limit switch and, where applicable,
pressure monitor) must be cleaned so that they are completely free of
any residue. Please follow our notes on cleaning and maintaining the
UV-C lamps and the safety mechanism (chapter 7).
11. ACTIVATING AND CONTROLLING THE

Installation notes
The device has been constructed and tested according to IEC 60730-1
Automatic electrical regulating and control devices for household use
and similar applications - part 1: General applications “, is CE-certified
and has left the factory in a safety-technically impeccable condition.
To maintain this condition, the content of these safety notes and
the rating plates, labels and safety notes on the device must be
observed when handling the device (transport, storage, installation,
commissioning, operation, maintenance, decommissioning); otherwise,
persons may be endangered and the product as well as other facilities
may be damaged.
These safety notes apply in the Federal republic of Germany. When
used in other countries, observe the relevant national rules there.
In addition to the notes in these operating instructions, observe the
general safety and accident prevention provisions.
If the information of these safety notes is insufficient, you may at any
time contact the manufacturer at the indicated address.
Please check the packaging and report any damage without delay.
The device must only be installed and taken into operation by an
electrician who is familiar with the dangers.
Ensure before commissioning that the device has no damage. In
doubt, bring in an electrician or contact the address below.
Before commissioning, check if the operating voltage of the device
and the mains voltage match.
There may be condensation if the device is taken from a cold
environment to a warm one suddenly. Wait until the temperature has
adjusted. Commissioning under condensation poses danger to life!
If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible,
the device must be taken out of operation and secured against
inadvertent operation.
It is to be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible,
- if the device has visible damage,
- if the device no longer works,
- after storage under harmful conditions,
- after severe transport stress.
Before cleaning: switch off the mains! Use a light cleaning agent
with a moist cloth for cleaning. Never clean while dripping wet!
Observe that the device is installed as far as possible from strong
interference sources. These may be magnetic coils, transformers,
frequency converters, etc.
Attention!
Observe sufficient protection from electrostatic
electricity (ESD) when installing the device.
Wiring notes:
Always observe that the wire connection is made only by the
intended screws; other assignment than indicated in the mechanical
disassembly may cause malfunction of the control or impairment of
other devices in the environment. No line connection must be routed
across the electronics within the housing. Control and signal lines, also
outside of the housing, must never be placed together in one cable
duct or collar together with load-conducting lines. All lines must be
sized according to the standard for current capacity.

Intended use
This control was developed for installation into an exhaust hood to
control UV-C elements. They are switched depending on external
control contacts and their functions are monitored.
Up to 3 fields with 4 frames each with lamp outputs up to 2000VA can
be connected. The device is set up modular and consists of:
A control box installed in a plastic housing (IP65)
A display unit in a plastic housing
Function description
After activation of the power supply (main switch), the system starts
into automatic mode.
The green LED “On” in the front of the display element and a relay
output “Ready for operation” signal the readiness for operation of the
control (relay contact is closed).
Activation and deactivation of the control electronics takes place via
the button “On/Off” in the display element.
Attention!
Only auxiliary energy is switched.
If a fault is present, e.g. door open, pressure drop in the fan, external
fault message of the module, lamp current undercut (the lamp current
is continually monitored via an integrated power measurement on the
electronic unit), is signalled via the corresponding LED in the display
unit and output via a relay contact “Fault” (quiescent current contact,
opens in case of error).
Attention!
If no faults are present, the photozone lamps
are switched on after a delay time of approx.
1 minute and all other LEDs in the display unit
have gone out.

In case of fault of the door switch or the underpressure or fan
monitoring, the photozone lamps are switched off automatically at
once and an error message is output via the relay contact “Fault”
after a delay time (2 seconds). Any other faults are only signalled in
the operating unit and do not influence the operation of the lamps any
further.
A defective UV lamp is signalled with a delay of 4 minutes.
Only after removal of the fault will the unit start up again automatically
after a delay time of approx. 1 minute.
An internal operating hours counter monitors the service life of the
photozone lamps.
Flashing of the yellow LED “Change UV lamp” (from < 500 hours
residual runtime onwards) in the display unit signals the pending
necessary exchange of the photozone lamps.
After final expiration of the maximum recommended operating
duration, the yellow LED “Service” lights up continually and you see
the information “Change UV lamp”. The corresponding field is set out
of operation and cannot be swiched on. The other fields with remaining
term of the lamps keep ready for operation.

The error messages are prioritised and are displayed in the following
order:
Ext. start missing (signalizes the lack of external release)
Error door (signalizes an open door)
Error underpressure (signalizes a lack of extraction
Error UV lamps (signalizes one or several faulty UV-lamps)
Change UV lamps (signalizes a remaining operating time of
the UV-lamps as < 500 hours)
Order UV lamps (signalizes an expired operating time of the
UV-lamps)
Note:
If a field is switched off via the operating and display unit, this field
can be switched back on via remote control by a signal change at
the input ext. start.
12.1 Switching language
You can currently choose between German and English. The language
of the display can be altered as follows:
1. Set the main switch of the display to OFF “0”.
2. Press and hold the button while you set the main switch to ON “1”.
Keep holding the button until the text SWITCHING LANGUAGE
appears in the display
3. Use to select the desired language.
4. Press to confirm the language selected.
5. The new language has now been set.
12.2 Switching the individual fields on and off (see also 12.3)
If not all fields are required in operation, they can be switched on and
off separately via the display. Please do the following:
1. Press the key.
2. The display switches into the selection menu.
3. Use the keys to navigate to the “change operating condition”.
4. Press the key.
5. The display switches to the selection menu of field numbers 1 – 3.
6. Press the to navigate to the desired field.
1. Press the key. The selected field is switched off. By pressing the
again, it is switched back on, etc.
2. If the state of the desired field has been altered, use the keys
to navigate back to the menu item “back to operating mode” and
press the key.
3. Process complete.
The text for normal operation should now be displayed.
The menu item “change system parameters” is only intended for
service purposes and protected by a password and not accessible for
the user. The menu item “back to operating mode” and then pressing
the key completes the configuration.

13. OPERATION FOR SERVICE, INSTALLATION AND
INITIAL OPERATION
13.1 Accessing the service menu and entering the password (528),
(see also 13.5)
The password is permanently set and cannot be changed.
1. The supply voltage of the control unit is switched on with the main
“On/Off” switch in the operating and display unit.
2. Press the key.
3. The display switches to the selection menu.
4. Navigate to the menu item “Password?” using the . keys.
5. Press the key.
6. Now enter the
3-digit password (528)
with the keys. Each digit is
altered separately and changed to the next digit by pressing the key
After entering the last digit, press the again.
If the password has been entered correctly, the service selection menu
is displayed, otherwise it returns to the operating mode.
13.2 Measuring the lamp current for monitoring the photozone lamps
(see also 13.5)
In the setting mode, if no key is
pressed for 30 seconds, the program
automatically returns to operating
mode.
Attention!
Parts of the control are live.
5. Press the key.
The text “please wait, x is being measured” is displayed and the yellow
LED in the operating and display unit lights up. The calibration process
is being conducted.
6. This takes ca. 20 seconds. It is then shown whether the calibration was
successful or whether there was an error.
If the calibration was successful, the text “Lamp current field x OK
appears in the display and the yellow LED goes off.
If the calibration was NOT successful, the text “Lamp current field x
Error” appears in the display and the red LED lights up. The yellow and
red LEDs automatically go off after ca. 5 seconds.
In the event of an error message, check the functionality of the lamps
and calibrate again.
7. This message must be confirmed by pressing the key.
8. If desired, navigate to the next field and calibrate it.
9. Leave the item, navigate to “back to the menu” and confirm by pressing
the key.
This takes you back to the service menu.
10. If no other settings are to be made, leave the service menu via the
menu item “Back to operating mode” and confirm by pressing
the key.
11. The operating mode is now active again and the service mode is
finished.
Attention!
Measuring the lamp current (13.2) must be
repeated after each lamp change.
Ensure that the photozone lamps are heated to operating temperature
first (photozone lamps should be in operation for at least 5 minutes)
before this measuring process is tripped, to achieve rated current intake.
1. Switch to the service menu as described above (13.1).
2. Navigate to the “Lamp current calibration” using the keys.
3. Press the key.
4. Navigate to the field to be calibrated using the keys.
