DAMPER MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
3) Measure and mark the conductor to
locate the damper from the support
hardware. For best results, locate the
damper within two inches of the specified
spacing – after cleaning the conductor to
remove surface oil or dirt at the location
where the damper clamp will be bolted..
4) The orientation of the weights along the
conductor is optional (i.e. whether the
large weight is toward the tower or
toward the span). Orient the damper for
easy access to the bolt and to obtain
visual assurance of positive conductor
seating.
5) Unscrew the clamp bolt enough to accept
the conductor into the clamp. Be sure
that the conductor groove in the clamp
and keeper are free of any dirt, grease or
other contaminates.
6) Install the damper onto the conductor by
placing the center of the clamp over the
spacing mark on the conductor. While
tightening the bolt, be sure that the
conductor is firmly and squarely
seated in the base of the conductor
grooves of the clamp and keeper – As
shown in the “Correct” image below.
7) Tighten the bolt until the installation
torque (marked on damper clamp) is
achieved. Or, until optional break-away,
torque-limiting bolt head is broken off.
