Alpha CB/C/SY Boiler
Vertical Flue Terminal Assembly
Twin Pipe (80 mm) Flue System
(Kit Part No. 6.1000369)
KIT CONTENTS
1. GENERAL
a. The flue system must be installed in accordance with BS 5440:1:1990.
b. The boiler must be installed in accordance with the installation instructions supplied with the boiler and the twin
pipe flue instructions supplied with the boiler conversion kit.
c. The vertical flue terminal assembly is equivalent to 1.0 m of flue length.
d. Refer to the vertical flue options in Fig. 1 and ensure that the flue length (H) does not exceed the equivalent of
7.0 m.
e. Each 45° bend is equivalent to 0.5 m of length of flue and no more than four bends must be used in each flue
exhaust or air inlet duct.
Note: 90° bends must not be used with the vertical flue.
f. Additional flue/air ducting is available in 1.0 m lengths for extending the flue up to a maximum equivalent flue
length of 7.0 m.
g. The vertical terminal may be connected directly to the boiler via the conversion kit. However, under no
circumstances must the terminal be shortened in length.
h. To determine the total length (A) of flue/air ducting required (refer to Fig. 1).
Measure the distance (X) from the top of the boiler side panel to the weathering slate position and subtract 640
mm for the terminal assembly, i.e. C = X - 640 mm
A = 2 x C + (50 mm for each connection in straight ducting).

H = Equivalent length of flue or air duct
The Vertical terminal assembly is equivalent to 1.0 m of flue length and each 45° bend is equivalent to 0.5 m of flue length.
Note: 90° bends must not be used with the vertical flue.
2. INSTALLATION
Refer to the Twin Pipe Flue installation instructions supplied with the boiler conversion kit (Part No. 6.1000368).
a. Refer to Fig. 1 for positioning of the vertical terminal in the roof.
b. To enable direct connection of the flue and air ducts to the terminal the duct centres must be 120 mm apart.
c. At the required position cut a hole and/or remove tiles so that there is at least a 170 mm diameter hole in the roof.
Ensure there is at least a 25 mm gap between the outer duct and any combustible material.
d. Fit a weathering slate, suitable for a 125 mm outside diameter flue, over the hole in the roof. A suitable weathering
slate (Part No. 6.1000380) is available from Alpha Therm Ltd.
e. Fit the terminal assembly into the weathering slate and place it in position, ensuring the minimum distances given in
Fig. 1 are maintained.
f. After assembly of the ducts to the terminal, ensure it is not possible to disengage any part of the flue assembly.
Check that the weathering slate is fitted correctly and ensure that the flue assembly is supported at roof level using
suitable brackets.
