iOS Device and iTunes Conguration Tips
This station can be used with iTunes for synchronization and management of
iPads and other iOS devices. For this and any other application (on Windows,
Linux, etc.) this station acts as a USB hub. While these instructions are specic to
iPads, virtually the same steps can be used for iPhones and iPod Touch devices.
Please note that this station only serves as a pathway for communication between
your devices and the computer. Actual management and synchronization is handled by
software or apps independent of this station.
The following tips for setting up your Mac for syncing your iPads are in no way
meant to replace the ofcial iTunes and iPad instructions available from Apple.
Functions and appearance of both iTunes and iOS may change at any time.
1. iTunes’ automatic checking for software updates can sometimes cause
problems or slow performance when syncing more than one iPad at
a time. We suggest that you turn this option off. Select Preferences in
the iTunes menu. In the General tab, make sure that “Check for new
software updates automatically” is unchecked.

automatically open when images are found on connected iPads.
To prevent this, go to the Preferences of iPhoto and make sure the
“Connected camera opens:” is set to “No application”.

Settings App and choose “General” and “Restrictions”. Here, you can
set a passcode and disable functions such as installing apps, accessing
the iTunes Store, etc.
