Non-authorized use of the positioner Type 8692 and the
process controller Type 8693 can be dangerous to people,
nearby equipment and the environment.
Thedeviceisdesignedtobemountedonpneumaticactuators
ofprocessvalvesforthecontrolofmedia.
In a potentially explosive atmosphere, Type 8692 and 8693
maybeusedonlyinaccordancewiththespecicationonthe
separateExtypelabel.Fortheuse,observetheATEXmanual
withsafetyinstructionsfortheExarea.
DeviceswithoutaseparateExtypelabelmaynotbeusedina
potentiallyexplosiveatmosphere.
Donotexposethedevicetodirectsunlight.
Apulsatingdirectvoltage(rectiedalternatingvoltagewithout
smoothing)mustnotbeusedastheoperatingvoltage.
Useaccordingtotheauthorizeddata,operatingconditions,and

If the ambient air is humid, a hose can be connected

trollerandtheunconnectedpilotairportoftheactuatorfor
controlfunctionAorcontrolfunctionB.
Asaresult,thespringchamberoftheactuatorissupplied
withdryairfromtheventductofType8692/8693.

Observe the following for the proper functioning of the
device:
Theinstallationmustnotcausebackpressuretobuild
up.
Tomaketheconnection,selectahosewithsucient
cross section.
Designtheexhaustairlineinsuchawaythatnowater
orotherliquidcangetintothedevicethroughthe
exhaustairport(3or3.1).
Exhaust air concept:
IncompliancewiththedegreeofprotectionIP67,an
exhaustairlinemustbeinstalledinthedryarea.
Alwaysmaintainanappliedcontrolpressureofat
least0.5...1barabovethepressurewhichisrequired
tomovethepneumaticactuatortoitsendposition.
Thisensuresthatthecontrolbehaviorisnotnegatively
aectedintheupperstrokerangeonaccountoftoo
littlepressuredierence.
Duringoperation,keeptheuctuationsofthecontrol
pressureaslowaspossible(max.±10%).
Ifuctuationsaregreater,thecontrolparametersmea-
suredwiththeX.TUNEfunctionarenotoptimum.
