Inlet Installation
Installing the Actuated Small Ceiling Inlet (ACI-2-1228-KIT)
1. Frame rough opening in the ceiling for each inlet.
2. Staple the insulation stop (29) to the frame’s opening (35), making sure it is flush with the bottom side
of the frame opening (35). (See Figure 1.)
Figure 1 Securing the Insulation Stop
3. Center the inlet (30) within the framed opening (35). (See Figure 2.)
4. Attach the inlet (30) to the frame opening (35) using eight #10 x 1-1/2" SMSA screws (6).
NOTE: Use a 1/4" hex head drive to install the screws (6). The locations (38) to install the screws (6)
are marked on the inlet (30) frame with a boss.

5. Run the 1/8" rods (36) through the inlet (30).
a. If using one rod (36), run it through the center slot in the inlet (30).
b. If using two rods (36), run them through the outside holes in the inlet (30).
6. Measure approximately 25" (minimum 18") from the outside of the inlet and fasten the nylon cords
(31) to the 1/8" rods (36) using 1/8" cable clamps (32).
7. Thread the nylon cord (31) through the stationary pulleys (10 and 11) then down through the
door (18).
NOTE: Make sure the nylon cord (31) goes around the stationary pulleys (10 and 11) as shown in
Figure 3.
8. Close the door (18) and slide the plastic ball (33) onto the nylon cord (31), then fasten closed with
azuma nut (34).
9. Cut-off the excess nylon cord (31), leaving 3"-4" below the azuma nut (34) for adjustment.
NOTE: The nylon cord (31) will stretch. Re-adjust the azuma nut (34) as needed to keep the
door (18) closed.
