12.Threadtheadjustmentboltintotheboomandturnit
inuntilthereis3.8to6.3cm(1-1/2to2-1/2inches)of
slackinthechainonthebottomspan.
13.Threadthejamnutdowntheadjustingboltandtighten
itsecurelyagainsttheboom.
14.Torquethe2boltsandnutssecuringtheboomto183
to223N-m(135to165ft-lb).

DiggingaTrench
1.Ifyourtractionunithasaspeedselector,setittothe
slow(turtle)position,thenstarttheengine.
2.Pulltheauxiliaryhydraulicslevertotheoperatorgrip
toengagethetrencher.
3.Slowlylowerthetrenchertothegroundsothatthe
boomandchainareparalleltotheground.
4.Begininsertingthenoseoftheboomandchainintothe
groundbyslowlyraisingthetrencherafewcentimeters
(inches)offthegroundwhiletiltingthenosedowninto
thegroundgradually.
5.Oncethetrencherboomisinthegroundata45to60
degreeangle,slowlylowerthetrencheruntilthespoils
augerisjustabovetheground.
6.Ensurethatallpartsofthetrencherarefunctioning
correctly.
7.Slowlymovethetractionunitrearwardtoextendthe
trench.
Note:Ifyoumovetoofast,thetrencherwillstall.Ifit
stalls,raiseitslightly,slowlydriveforward,orreverse
thechaindirectionmomentarily.
8.Whennished,raisethetrencherandboomoutofthe
trenchbytiltingtheattachmentrearward,thenstop
thetrencherbymovingtheauxiliaryhydraulicslever
intoneutral.
OffsettingtheTrencher
Youcanmovethetrenchertotherightsideofthetrencher
frametoallowyoutotrenchclosetobuildingsandother
obstacles.
1.Lowerthetrenchertotheground,stoptheengine,and
disconnectthehydrauliclinesfromthetrencher.

trenchingtopreventequipmentdamage.
•Alwaysbegintrenchingwiththeslowestgroundspeed

•Alwaysusefullthrottle(maximumenginespeed)when
trenching.
•Alwaystrenchbackward(i.e.,inreverse).
•Nevertransportthetrencherwiththeloaderarmsraised.
Keepthearmsloweredandthetrenchertiltedup.
•Whentrenching,thespoilsaugershouldjustclearthe
originalgroundsurfacetoobtainmaximumsoilremoval.
•Trenchata45to60degreeangleforbestresults.
•Youwillbeabletodigatrenchfasterbycontrollingthe
depthwithperiodicadjustmentsoftheloaderarms.
•Ifyourtractionunithasaspeedselector(presentonsome
wheeledtractionunits),setittotheslow(turtle)position.
•Ifyourtractionunithasaowdivider(presentonsome
wheeledtractionunits),adjustittoapproximatelythe10
o’clockposition.
•Ifthetrencherbindsinthesoil,pushtheauxiliary
hydraulicsleverfullyforwardtoreversethechain
direction.Oncethechainisloose,pulltheleverrearward
againandcontinuetrenching.
•Ifyouneedthenishedtrenchtobecleanerthanwhatis
possiblewiththetrencher,youcanpurchaseacrumber
fromyourdealer.Thecrumbermountsontothetrencher
andscrapesthetrenchcleanasyourunthetrencher.
•Toimprovethequalityoftrencheslessthan61cm(24
inches)deep,usea61cm(24inch)boomonthetrencher.

2.Loosenthejamnutontheadjustingboltintheboom

3.Loosentheadjustingboltuntilyoucanremovethe
chainfromtheboom(Figure3).
4.Removethechainfromthedrivesprocket.
5.Removetheboom,ipitoversothebottombecomes
thetop(orifyouhavealreadyippeditonce,replace
it),andinstalltheboomagain.

ReplacingtheDriveSprocket
Overtime,thedrivesprocketwillwear,especiallywhenused
insandyorclaysoils.Whenthishappens,thediggingchain
willbegintoslip.Ifthechainslips,replacethedrivesprocket
asfollows:
1.Raisethetrencherafewcentimeters(inches)above
theground.
2.Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
3.Removethespoilsauger(Figure11).

Productoperationinclude,butarenotlimitedto:brakes,lters,lights,
bulbs,belts,tracksortires,diggingteeth,diggingbooms,digging,
drive,ortrackchains,trackpads,drivesprockets,idlers,rollers,
blades,cuttingedges,orothergroundengagingcomponents.
•Failurescausedbyoutsideinuence.Conditionsconsideredtobe
outsideinuenceinclude,butarenotlimitedto,weather,storage
practices,contamination,useofunapprovedfuels,coolants,lubricants,
additives,water,orchemicals,etc.
•Failureorperformanceissuesduetotheuseoffuels(e.g.gasoline,
diesel,orbiodiesel)thatdonotconformtotheirrespectiveindustry
standards.
•Normalnoise,vibration,wearandtear,anddeterioration.
•Normal“wearandtear”includes,butisnotlimitedto,damagetoseats
duetowearorabrasion,wornpaintedsurfaces,scratcheddecals,etc.
•Haulingexpenses,traveltime,mileage,orovertimeassociatedwith
transportingproducttotheauthorizedT orodealer.
Parts
Partsscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenanceinthe
Operator’sManual,arewarrantedfortheperiodoftimeuptothescheduled
replacementtimeforthatpart.Partsreplacedunderthiswarrantyare
coveredforthedurationoftheoriginalproductwarrantyandbecomethe
propertyofT oro.Torowillmakethenaldecisionwhethertorepairany
existingpartorassemblyorreplaceit.Toromayuseremanufacturedparts
forwarrantyrepairs.
MaintenanceisatOwner’sExpense
Enginetune-up,lubrication,cleaningandpolishing,replacementoflters,
coolant,andcompletingrecommendedmaintenancearesomeofthe
normalservicesT oroproductsrequirethatareattheowner’sexpense.
GeneralConditions
RepairbyanAuthorizedToroUndergroundDealerisyoursoleremedy
underthiswarranty.
NeitherTheToroCompanynorToroWarrantyCompanyisliablefor
indirect,incidentalorconsequentialdamagesinconnectionwiththe
useoftheToroProductscoveredbythiswarranty,includingany
costorexpenseofprovidingsubstituteequipmentorserviceduring
reasonableperiodsofmalfunctionornon-usependingcompletion
ofrepairsunderthiswarranty.ExceptfortheEmissionswarranty
referencedbelow,ifapplicable,thereisnootherexpresswarranty.All
impliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandtnessforusearelimitedto
thedurationofthisexpresswarranty.
Somestatesdonotallowexclusionsofincidentalorconsequential
damages,orlimitationsonhowlonganimpliedwarrantylasts,sotheabove
exclusionsandlimitationsmaynotapplytoyou.Thiswarrantygivesyou
