DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The 1010T Series Infrared Illuminator provides outstanding
results when used with IR sensitive black/white cameras.
The light produced by the 1010T Series is invisible to the
human eye. This feature is excellent for covert security or
where the addition of visible lighting is not possible.
The 300 watt spot-lamp is designed to project a highly
concentrated IR beam to a distance of 460 feet (140 m),
covering an area 100 ft wide x 66 ft high. Pronounced ribbing
around the two-part black enameled housing dissipates heat to
extend bulb life.
The IR filter is a lamination of vaporized-metal coated glass
and Pyrex subjected to a special hardening process.
A 10 ft (3 m) pendant line cord is standard with the
Illuminator.

120 VAC Input

GENERAL SAFETY
Observe the following safety instructions without fail:
The 1010T generates large amounts of heat from the IR
lamp during operation. Determine that no systems
(sprinklers, thermostats, heating vents, etc.) in the
immediate installation area are triggered or damaged as a
result of this thermal radiation (heat).
Before performing any service on or around the 1010T, shut
down the Illuminator and isolate it electrically to prevent
accidental operation. A cool-off period of approximately
one hour is required after shut down. (Even if the housing
is cool, the IR lamp may still retain enough heat to cause
injury.)

!
CAUTION
The concentrated high power of the Infrared beam
can cause serious damage to a person's vision!
Maintain a minimum 33 foot (10 m) safety zone
between the Illuminator and any human contact.

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
Mounting
The 1010T IR Illuminator is supplied with a "U-shaped"
bracket for mounting the Illuminator to a wall bracket or a
Pan/Tilt mechanism.
Ensure the structural soundness of the mounting bracket
support surface.
Three holes are drilled in the bottom of the mounting
bracket (see Figure 2):
Use the center hole (0.83"/21 mm) to secure the
1010T to a mounting bracket.
Use the two side holes (0.28"/7 mm) to secure the
1010T to a Pan/Tilt unit.
Connection
The 1010T requires a 120 VAC (2.5 Amps) supply voltage.
The 1010T is supplied with a 10 ft (3 m) pendant line cord for
connecting to a power supply (see Table 1).

Twilight Switch
Routing the supply voltage through a twilight switch (not
supplied) extends the operational life of the 1010T. American
Dynamic's recommends using one twilight switch (AD part
number 1010/TS) to operate a maximum of three Illuminator
units.
Lens Selection for 1010/T
Table 2 lists the minimum focal length lens size required to
focus at the maximum spotlight beam range for a particular
camera format.

illumination to 460 feet (140 meters). Table 3 lists the
spotlight area covered by the beam.

BULB REPLACEMENT
BULB REPLACEMENT
Before servicing the Illuminator, power down the unit and
allow approximately one hour to cool. Replacement bulbs can
be ordered through American Dynamics (part #
AD1010/TBB). IR bulb replacement is done without
removing the Illuminator from its mount.
Remove the three 4 mm Hex screws holding the main
housing to the rear housing (see Figure 3).
Pull the defective IR bulb forward and gently remove the
power cord connector from the IR bulb prongs.
Remove and save the O-Ring (red colored gasket) around
the defective bulb.
Discard the defective bulb.
Fit the O-ring (red colored gasket) around the new IR bulb
and plug in the power cord connector taking care not to
crack the porcelain base of the connector.
Check that the IR bulb O-Ring is properly seated between
the new bulb and the rear housing. Refer to Figure 3.
Check that the weather seal (black colored gasket) is
properly seated in the rear housing outer rim.
Insert the IR lamp into the main housing.
Close the housing and secure the three 4 mm Hex screws.

TROUBLESHOOTING
!
!
CAUTION
Do not attempt to service an operational Illuminator!
The heat generated by the IR lamp is sufficient to cause SEVERE
BURNS. Before performing any service on or around the 1010T, shut
down the Illuminator and isolate it electrically to prevent accidental
starting. A cool-off period of approximately one hour is required after
shut down. (Even if the housing is cool, the IR lamp may still retain
enough heat to cause injury.)
!
!
CAUTION
Do not look directly into an operational Illuminator!
Since IR light is invisible to the human eye, the only method of verifying
a malfunctioning IR lamp is at the video output location. Before starting
any maintenance work on the 1010T, be certain that the video system (i.e.
cameras, monitors, etc.) is functioning properly.
