CAUTION: If installing EM-2202 Do not close trunk
until installation is complete and you have tested .the
actuator, (failure to do so can result in a locked trunk
with no way to unlock it).
black wire and red wire through and connect them to
the switch button. Push the switch button back Into
the hole.
B. Under dash installation. If you are
installing the switch button under the dash you will
!need to use the switch bracket and snap ring.
Remove a screw under the dash at your desired
location or use the enclosed self-tapping screw and
t install the switch button bracket. Connect the wiring
to the switch button as described in the preceding
paragraph.
STEP 1. (EM-2202 only) (EM-2201 Installers go to
Step 3.) Put towel or rag over the latch striker to
prevent accidental trunk closure.
STEP 2. (EM-2202 only) Remove existing cable
from lock cylinder and latch. On some vehicles this
will require drilling out two pop rivets holding the
cable to the lock cylinder (others will use screws).
STEP 7. Connecting the switch button. Decide first
if you want your switch to have constant power or
ignition activated power. Then taking the blank end
of the red wire you can connect at the fuse box or
splice into an existing wire. Once connected your
switch will be operable upon reconnecting the
positive battery cable.
STEP 3. Install motorized actuator. Some latches
may require removing a break-off tab. Using a Bmm
socket install the actuator on the latch using the
included self-tapping screws. (Do not overtighten
screws as this may bind the actuator). If installing
EM-2202, connect the actuator cable to the lock
cylinder using either pop rivets or screws. Test key
in lock for proper movement.
STEP 8. Test and adjust. With trunk still open have
someone push the switch button while you observe
the actuator. When the switch is activated the
actuator should move. If not, loosen screws holding
the actuator to the latch until the actuator is able to

was depressed. check your connections or if ignition
activated, make sure key is on. Try again. Next
check the key in the lock cylinder as described in
STEP 3.
STEP 9. Finish. Remove or loosen necessary trim
from switch button along the wiring route to the
actuator. Tuck the wiring beneath the trim panels
and tighten.
STEP 4. Route the wiring harness. Decide first
where you wish to mount the switch button (glove
box or under dash). Starting at the actuator, plug the

Remove one of the screws holding the actuator and
place the green ground wire loop on the screw and
tighten back in place. Route the black wire either
through or along the trunk ribbing in the most direct
route to your desired switch button location. You
may have to remove the rear seat. Leave the black
wire loose until STEP 9. NOTE: Without a proper
ground your actuator will not work.
STEP 5. Disconnect positive battery cable.

STEP 6. Install switch button.
A. Glove box installation. If you are installing
your switch in the glove box, many models have
plugged holes already in the glove box. If your
vehicle is so equipped remove the plug. The hole
may be either 3/4" or 1 " in diameter. If the hole is 1 "
diameter you will need to use the optional snap ring
with your switch button. Glove boxes with square
holes or without precut holes will require a 3/4"
diameter hole be cut or an under dash installation
used. (CAUTION: If you choose to cut a hole
remove the glove box insert to prevent damage to
vehicle equipment located behind it}. Once your hole
is located, route the connector terminals on the
