COMPLEMENTARY POWER SUPPLY
MPS240C MODULE
FUNCTION
COMPLEMENTARY POWER SUPPLY FOR A
CHASSIS WITH AN INSTALLED POWER
SUPPLY
DESCRIPTION
The MPS240C is a power supply that
provides the necessary stabilized voltages
for signal and power amplifier module types.
The total load capacity is 240 W.
Mechanically, this complementary power
supply consists of two separate parts: The
first one includes the mains transformer
while the second one comprises the printed
circuit board and the other power supply
components.
When mounting this power supply into an enviro chassis, you are actually installing two independent enviro systems inside the
same chassis. Therefore, both power supplies must be interconnected via the external expansions found on the rear panel.
FEATURES
INDICATORS:
POWER ON
CONNECTIONS:
MAINS SOCKET WITH INTEGRATED FUSE
EXPANSION/STACK (1/2/3):
Expansion connectors for upgrading the chassis power
supply and/or another chassis holding more modules.
These connectors are 8-way RJ45 type (Expansion/Stack 1 and 3) and 6-way RJ45
(Expansion/Stack 2).
GND Link: Only one power supply inside the same enviro system should have the GND Link
switch set to ON.
CONNECTING THE MPS240C
To add this complementary power supply (MPS240C) to an enviro system, execute the following steps, as described with the
diagram on the next page.
1. Unscrew and remove the upper and lower cover-plate, as well as the left side cover-plate.
2. Remove or move the modules which could disturb during the installation of this unit by unplugging the signal and power
supply busses.
3. Insert the mains transformer assembly of the new MPS240C from the left side and place it in the correct position.
4. Insert the power supply circuit assembly of the new MPS240C from the left side and place it besides the transformer
assembly.
5. Reassemble the left side cover-plate in its original position.
6. Connect the transformer assembly of the new MPS240 as described in the wiring diagram on the next page.
7. Install all the signal or power amplifier modules that are required on this chassis.
8. Connect the signal and power supply busses on both power supplies. Connect them to the modules that are one the left side
of each power supply, resulting in two separate enviro systems. The superfluous signal and power supply bus may be cut off.
Reassemble the upper and lower cover-plates. The MPS240C comes with a set of more dissipative covers. Replace the ones
on the chassis with the new ones.
ATTENTION: The MPS240C is a unit which is completely separarted from the power supply included with the chassis. The
new MPS240C is used with separate busses and cables. Both power supplies must be interconnected via the external
expansion on the back panel (EXP/STACK 1,2,3 must be interconnected: from EXP1 to STACK1, from EXP2 to STACK2 and
from EXP3 to STACK3).
