1. Introduction
This On-Q Home 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet, PN
364741-xx, provides the distribution of an amplified stereo
audio source to four (4) pairs of speakers through On-Q Home
Impedance Matching Volume Controls, P/N 364520-xx.
NOTE: Failure to ensure proper impedance to the audio amplifier
may result in damage to the audio equipment and speakers.
2. Description
The 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet comes in the form of a Decorator
outlet which fits into standard outlet boxes or On-Q Home Mud Ring,
PN 364524-01 New Construction or PN 364525-01 Retrofit. The front
contains 4 Audio Binding Posts, (see Figure 1), which accept an
amplified (speaker level) audio signal from the audio source equipment.

The rear contains 4 detachable 4 position Terminal Blocks with screw
terminals, (see Figure 2), which accept speaker wires coming from the
On-Q Home Impedance Matching Volume Controls, P/N 364520-xx.
3. Installation
Installation of the On-Q Home 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet, is best accomplished at multiple times during new
construction, at “Rough-in” before the drywall is installed, and at “Trim-out” after the drywall is installed and painted.
A. “Rough-in” steps, 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet:
1. Cable Rough-in:
a. Run 16/4 or 14/4 high quality speaker wire from the 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet location to the
volume control locations and 16/2 or 14/2 from the volume control locations to each speaker location, leaving
extra cable at both ends. Clearly label each cable as it is installed.
B. “Trim-out” steps, 4 Zone Audio Distribution Outlet:
NOTE: Always use proper stripping and crimping tools to assure reliable terminations.
1. Identify the speaker wires coming from the volume controls.
2. Strip ends of these wires ¼ to 3/8 inch.
3. Insert each speaker wire into the appropriate speaker screw terminal on the 4 position Terminal Block, keeping
left and right, “+” and “-“ identified. Tighten screw to firmly secure the wire.
