Product Overview
The SP362B/SP363B 1000BASE-TX to 1000BASE-SX/LX converter is primarily designed for larger
and higher bandwidth demanding workgroups that require expansion of the Ethernet network.
SP362B/SP363B features a RJ45 jack and an SC fiber optic connectors, connecting the
1000BASE-TX network to the 1000BASE-SX/LX (fiber optic) network. At full duplex mode, the
converter can extend distances up to 55o meters for Multi-mode fiber and up to 20 kilometers for
Single-mode fiber.
The SP373 Series 10/100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX converter is primarily designed for larger and
higher bandwidth demanding workgroups that require expansion of the Ethernet network. SP373
Series Converter features a RJ45 jack and an ST/SC/MT-RJ/VF-45 fiber optic connectors, connecting
the 10/100Mbps network to the 100BASE-FX (fiber optic) network. At full duplex mode, the converter
can extend distances up to 2 kilometers for Multi-mode fiber and up to 75 kilometers for Single-mode
fiber.
Installation
As with any electric device, you should place the equipment where it will not be subjected to extreme
temperatures, humidity, or electromagnetic interference. Specifically, the site you select should meet
the following requirements:
1. The ambient temperature should be between 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.
2. The relative humidity should be less than 90 percent, non condensing.
3. Surrounding electrical devices should not exceed the electromagnetic field (RFC) standards
for IEC 801 3, Level 2 (3V/M) field strength.
2
4. Make sure that the equipment receives adequate ventilation. Do not block the ventilation holes
on each side of the switch or the fan exhaust port on the side or rear of the equipment.
Follow the steps to install the media converter. This Converter is a plug-and-play device.
1. Connect the supplied AC to DC power adapter to the receptacle at the back of the converter.
2. Attach the plug into a standard AC outlet.
SP362B/SP363B Gigabit Converter
This converter provides one TX port and one FX port. For the FX port, it provides options of either
multi-mode (SP362B) or single-mode (SP363B) fiber accommodating SC connector. For the TX port,
it uses RJ-45 connector and supports Auto-Uplink.

DIP Setting of SP362B/SP363B
Port settings are made very simple by means of a DIP (Dual Inline Package) switch at the front panel
of the module. The default setting is auto negotiation as shown below. If the Pin 1 is on, it means the
fiber port will automatically choose Full Duplex or Half Duplex. User could toggle off Pin 1 to force the
fiber port at Full Duplex. Pin 2 is now reserved for future use.

SP373 Series 10/100TX to 100FX Converter
This converter provides one TX port and one FX port. For the FX port, it provides options of either
multi-mode or single-mode fiber accommodating ST/SC/MT-RJ/VF-45 connector. For the TX port, it
uses RJ-45 connector supports auto senses the speed of 10/100Mbps.
New features support Auto Uplink on TX port and LFPT (Link-Fault-Pass-Through).
Auto Uplink: User can connect to PC or switch/hub by using either straight-through or cross-over
cable. It will automatically detect the type of cable and link the connection.
Link Fault Pass-Through: When cable in one end is OUT (disconnected/damaged/at fault), it will
inform the other end by turning OFF the remote end's link LEDs.

DIP Setting of SP373 Series
Port settings are made very simple by means of a DIP (Dual Inline Package) switch at the rear panel
of the module. The default setting is auto negotiation and LFPT (Link-Fault-Pass-Through) enable as
shown below. A connected network device might fail to respond to the auto negotiation mechanism
due to various reasons, and therefore, this DIP switch allows user to manually adjust the TX/RX
speed and duplex modes.
There are six pins on the DIP switch for port settings. Refer to the table below for more details.

First, disconnect the converter from the power. Then toggle Pin 2 of the DIP switch to the OFF
position to enable the force mode for TX port.
Note: The Pin 2 must be toggled off prior to any port settings manually.
y Toggle on Pin 3 to force the TX port at the speed of 100Mbps. Or toggle off Pin 3 for 10Mbps speed.
y Toggle on Pin 4 to force the TX port at full duplex mode. Or toggle off Pin 4 for half duplex mode.
y Toggle on Pin 5 to force the FX port at full duplex mode. Or toggle off Pin 5 for half duplex mode.
Connect the converter to the power again. The new setting will come into effect then.
