Precautions
If you do not use your Zodiac for a long time, please switch it to OFF.
Avoid using your Zodiac under extremely hot, cold, dusty or wet environments.
Striking, dropping, or severe jolts to your Zodiac may cause physical damage, battery loosening, or other
hardware damage.
The following conditions indicates a low battery level and signifies that the player should be charged:
o The battery icon displays
in normal operation with low battery prompt.
o Where there is no response when pressing keys and the battery icon displays
.
o The player turns off automatically.
Static electricity may cause damage to interior hardware of the player.
Do not disconnect the player while formatting, uploading, or downloading files to the player, as it may cause
program errors, or cause the unit to be unable to power on.
When the player is used as a removable hard disk, users should store files following correct file management
methods. We are not liable for any data loss or damage.
Do not disassemble the unit in any way as this will void all warranties. Please contact your place of purchase
if you experience any problems with your unit.
Note: The battery level may change during use. This is because of electric quantity vibration caused by
power consumption during playing. It will not affect normal use of the player.

Key Actions
There are two types of key presses: Quick press and Press and hold
1. Quick press: Press the described key quickly, holding no longer than 1 second.
2. Press and hold: press the key and hold it for 3 to 5 seconds.

Basic Operation
1) This unit uses a built in Lithium Ion Battery, which can be charged by either your computer’s USB port or
the included charger. To extend the life of the player, it is advised to charge the battery after it has been
drained.
2) Please ensure that the ON/OFF switch is in the ON position when charging.
3) When charging with the attached charger, the player will automatically turn on and display the charging
screen (the battery icon changes continually), and the green LED of the charger is lit. The red LED is the
power indication LED and the green is the charging indication LED. When the battery is full and the display
prompts “battery full”, the green LED on the charger will turn off.
4) Please charge for 8-24 hours
for the first two charges. You will only need to charge between 3 and 5 hours
for subsequent charges.
Touchpad lock:
To avoid accidentally pressing the touchpad, you can lock it by pressing and holding the power button
and the MODE key at the same time. A picture of a closed lock will appear on the screen. To disable the
touchpad lock, press and hold the power button and MODE key again. The picture of the lock will open
and you will be able to use the touchpad again.
ON/OFF
1. If the ON/OFF switch of the player is in the “OFF” position, please switch it to the “ON” position.
2. Press and hold the Power button to power the unit on. A welcome screen will display:
3. To power the unit off, press and hold the power button until the goodbye screen displays. The unit will
power off about three seconds later.

Music
While playing a song, you can pause the song with a quick press of and resume play with another
quick press of
. Quickly press the MODE key to enter the file listing. This will allow you to select
different files. For usage instructions please refer to the 'Explorer' section below. You can return to the
previous screen by quickly pressing the VOL key or return to the main screen by pressing and holding the
MODE key. The music will not stop at this time, allowing you to continue to listen to your music while
browsing pictures, reading text files, or adjusting the system settings.
Lyrics
In order to display lyrics with your music, you must have a lyric file (*.lrc) corresponding to the song;
if you have “good.mp3” you will also have to have “good.lrc”.
Both files have to be saved in the same directory.
The system will automatically synchronize the lyrics and display.
If there are no lyric files for your song, the audio spectrum will be displayed.
Song selection
In the music mode, quickly press the key to select the previous track and quickly press the
key to select the next track. Your can also quickly press the MODE key to enter the file listing. Press the
or keys to select the music file you want to play, then quickly press the MODE key to select
and return to the music screen to play the music. Refer to the 'Explorer' section below for detailed file
navigation instructions.

Volume adjustment
In music mode, to adjust the volume, quickly press the VOL key. The volume value at the bottom right
corner of the display will begin to flash. Press the or keys to adjust the volume. Press the VOL
key again to accept the change.
Fast Forward/Rewind
In the music mode, press and hold the key to fast forward the current song; press and hold the
key to rewind the current song.
A-B Repeat mode
In the music mode, quickly press the VOL key. The volume value at the bottom right corner of the
display will begin to flash. Quickly press the MODE key and an A- will appear below the song info
display. This sets the start point of the A-B repeat. Quickly press the MODE key again and a B will
appear. This sets the end point of the A-B repeat. The unit will then play the file between points A and B.
To exit the A-B repeat mode, quickly press the MODE key once more, then quickly press the VOL key
again to exit volume adjust mode.

Video
Note:
This player supports AVI format video files. However, all video files you wish to add to the player MUST be
converted through the included AVIConverter software, due to screen size and required Codecs. Video formats
supported by the included AVIConverter software include AVI, RM, RMVB, MPG, MPEG, MP4, ASF, WMV,
MKV, DAT and VOB. For Conversion software instructions, please refer to 'Video Conversion', later in this
manual
Use to select the “Video” option in the main screen and press the MODE key to enter video mode.
While playing a song, you can pause the song with a quick press of

the VOL key again to accept the change.
Fast Forward/Rewind
In the video mode, press and hold the key to fast forward the current video; press and hold the
key to rewind the current video.

Radio
Note:
1. Before using the radio, please insert the earphones, as they will act as the Players antenna.
2. This machine can save up to 20 channel presets.
3. When you record a radio, the recorded file will be saved in an ascending sequence and named as REC001,
REC002 and so on. When the unit’s memory is full, it will stop recording automatically.
Upon first entering Radio mode, the channel will be set to the minimum frequency, shown in the figure below:
Radio Function Menu
Quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu on the left side of the screen. The options will
be: Manual, Preset, Mem, Del, and Auto.
Channel search
Press and hold the or keys and the player will begin to scan and automatically save any
channels it finds.
Quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu at the left side of the screen, which includes:
manual, pre-set, save, delete and automatic. Manual and automatic can be selected as the searching
methods. Press the
button to exit from the function menu.
Manual Scan
In the radio screen, quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu. Use the or keys
to select Manual and press the MODE key to Select. You will then use the
or keys to

manually find the channel you want to listen to.
Preset Scan
In the radio screen, quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu. Use the or keys to
select Manual and press the MODE key to Select. The player will then automatically scan and save
channels it gets reception from.
Saving Channels
When manually searching channels, quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu. Use the
and keys to select “Mem” to open the preset submenu. Next, select a preset channel using the
and keys, and press the MODE key. Press the MODE key once more to save the channel.
Deleting Channels
Quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu. Use the and keys to select “Del” to
open the delete submenu. Next, select a preset channel using the
and keys, and press the MODE
key. Press the MODE key once more to confirm.
Preset
In the FM screen, quickly press the MODE key to open the function menu. Use the or keys to
select preset. In preset mode, quickly press the
or keys to switch among the saved channels.
Radio recording
In the radio mode, tune to the channel program you want to record. Quickly press the key to
enter the recording mode, and press the
key to start recording. Press and hold the MODE key to
stop and save the recording. You will play these files in the Music Mode.

Photo
In the main menu, use the
or keys to select Photo, and then press the MODE key to enter.
In the picture viewing mode, quickly press the
or keys to manually browse between pictures. Press
to begin viewing the pictures automatically in a slideshow. You can stop the slideshow by pressing
again. In the picture mode, quickly press the MODE key to enter the picture selection screen. Quickly
press the VOL key to return to the previous screen, and press and hold the MODE button to return to the main
menu.
Deleting Pictures
In the picture selection screen, select the picture you want to delete, and quickly press the key to
open the dialog box for deleting files. Quickly press the or keys to select YES, and then press
the MODE key again to delete. Use the same operation to delete other files.
Note: To adjust the slideshow picture time, refer to slideshow setting in the system settings.

Text
NOTE: The text reader displays 42 characters across and 9 lines down per screen. For the optimum viewing
experience, please format your text in this manner.

In the main menu, use the
or keys to select Text, and then press the MODE key to enter.
In the TXT Selection screen, use the
or keys to select the file you wish to view and press the MODE
key to view that file. While viewing the file, quickly press the
or keys to turn the page. Quickly
pressing the
key will enter the automatic page turning mode. Quickly pressing the key again
will exit the automatic page turning mode. Press and hold the MODE key to stop viewing the file and return to
the main menu.
Note: To adjust the automatic page turner time, refer to automatic page turner setting in the system settings
Setting Bookmarks
You can set up to three bookmarks in your text file to easily find an area or return to your last read page.
When you are on the page you wish to bookmark, press and hold the VOL button to open the bookmark
menu. Use the
or keys to select the bookmark you would like to set and quickly press the
MODE button to set a bookmark.
Returning to a Bookmark
Once you have set a bookmark, you can return to it at anytime you are viewing that file. Press and hold
the VOL button to open the bookmark menu. Use the or keys to select the bookmark you
would like to view and quickly press the MODE button to skip to that bookmark.
Record
In the main menu, use the or keys to select Record, and then quickly press the MODE key to enter.
Quickly press the
key to start recording. Quickly press the key again to pause the recording.
While paused, quickly press the MODE key to save the current recording and prepare the next recording. Press
and hold the MODE key to return to the main menu. Voice files can be played through the Music mode.

Explorer
File selection
In the main menu, use the or keys to select Record, and then quickly press the MODE key to
enter.
In Explorer, all loaded files are displayed. Use the
or keys to select files. When you have a file
selected, quickly press the MODE button to access that file
Music, recorded voice, and recorded radio files will play in music mode
Video files will play in video mode
Pictures will play in picture mode
Text files will play in text mode
When in a folder, you can quickly press the VOL key to return to the previous screen. Press and hold the
MODE button to return to the main menu.
Deleting Files
In Explorer, select the file you want to delete, and quickly press the key to open the dialog box
for deleting files. Quickly press the or keys to select YES, and then press the MODE key again
to delete.

Settings
In the main menu, use the
or keys to select Record, and then press the MODE key to enter.
Settings mode includes: music settings, radio setting, recording setting, display setting, automatic browsing
setting, system setting, Power off, and restore to defaults.
Music
Use the or keys to select Music, and press the MODE key to enter. The music settings include:
repeat mode, playing mode, EQ selection and user EQ tuning. Quickly press the MODE button to make
a selection in all menus.
A. Repeat mode-
Once... Plays one song once, then stops
Repeat One… Repeats a single song over and over again
Folder Once… Plays each song in a folder once, then stops
Folder repeat… Plays each song in a folder over and over again
All Once… Plays each song once, then stops
All Repeat… Plays each song over and over again
Intro… Plays the first ten seconds of each song
B. Play mode.
Order… Plays the songs on the unit in the default order
Shuffle… Plays the songs on the unit in random order
C. EQ Select
Normal… Default setting
3D… Best for listening to 3D recordings
Rock… Best for listening to rock music
Pop… Best for listening to pop music
Classic… Best for listening to classical music
Bass… Best for listening to music with a heavy baseline
Jazz… Best for listening to jazz music
User EQ… Setting required to use user defined equalizer

Set your own equalizer setting.

In the user EQ adjustment screen, quickly pressing the VOL key will shift which the band to be adjusted.

A. REC Quality
High Quality… Higher quality recordings, but uses more power and larger files
Normal Quality… Default recording quality
B. REC volume
Increase the recording volume by up to 5 levels

Use the or keys to select Music, and press the MODE key to enter
A. BLight Time
Set the time the backlight stays lit after making a selection.
Options are 5sec, 10sec, 15sec, 20sec, 30sec, and always on.
B. Lum
Set the luminescence (brightness) of the screen from 1 (dimmest) to 5 (brightest)
C. BLight Mode
Normal… Default backlight mode
Power Save… Power saving backlight
