Operating advice for PCS dosing elements.
1. PCS dosing elements should be serviced annually. For performance optimization, test
your sowing material on a PCS test stand.
2. For seed treatment always use graphite. 1-2 table spoons is enough per big pack.
3. The ideal working speed is 6.0 bis 8.0 kmh. Excess speed leads to a decrease in dis-
tance precision, and imprecise depth control.
4. Occasionally check the brush bristles for wear .
5. Pay attention to the use of seed treatment materials and additives. They may cause
dosing dif culties, premature wear and increased deposits on the dosing parts of the
machine.
6. Check all important elements of the machine for ne tuning, including blower, air distrib-
utor ap, PCS dosing elements, sowing hoses and tubes, PCS sensors, drilling depth
adjustment and the coulter system with double disc coulters, seed furrow former, catcher
rollers and pressure rollers.
7. Check brush lever and adjust if needed. The brush is so designed that setting position 3
equates to a standard brush. This position works well for medium-grain seed. The lever
can be engaged to ne tune the dosing ef ciency for larger or smaller seeds by turning it
to the left or to the right. See table or sticker for details about brush setting.
Brush position adjustment table:
Grain shape Grain size in mm Brush position
Round grain > 6.5 1
Flat grain (dent maize) > 4.5 1
Round grain 5.5-6.5 2
Flat grain (dent maize) 3.5-4.5 2

Start-up and operation
Grain shape Grain size in mm Brush position
Flat grain (dent maize) < 3.5 3
Round grain 3.5-4.5 4
Round grain < 3.5 5
Compare the grain size and form with the
adjustment table or with the size informa-
tion on the PCS dosing elements.
Shift the brush lever to the correct po-
sition. In the example, position 4 is set for
round grain of size 3.5 to 4.5 mm.
Adjust brush lever to the left if under-dos-
ing occurs.
Adjust brush lever to the right if over-dos-
ing occurs.
Working
Sowing
1. Implement safety precautions for working.
2. Switch on tramline switching if tramlines are to be generated.

2. The machine combination is lowered.
3. Lower track marker.
4. Lower forward running marker.
5. Turn on p.t.o. and increase the rpm quickly up to the nominal speed.
6. Switch on the seed blower and set at the speed shown.
7. Switch on the PCS single-seeding.
8. Start the dosing procedure and wait for the drive-off signal.

Care and maintenance
Care and maintenance
Annually
Clean and check PCS-dosing elements
Fitting, inner cleaning and control of the PCS-dosing elements.
NOTE
Defects to PCS-dosing elements are possible through moisture and corrosion.
Because of the hygroscopic characteristics of seed dressings, we recommend that the
PCS-dosing elements be thoroughly cleaned before a longer sowing break and at sea-
son's end.
Fitting the PCS-dosing elements
PCS-dosing elements are precision devices. They should be checked annually and main-
tained carefully.
Pre-stressed nger elements accept the single seed grains
and feed them along a backplate to the elevator belts
. The grain brush
g
g
g
can be adjusted to suit various grain siz-
es and shapes. A stopper element with a soft rubber insert
slows the seed grain down and prevents skipping.
Check PCS-dosing elements
11. Take the black plastic cover off and remove the residues from the dosing element. Wipe
pelleting residues and buildup from the nger elements and the backplate with a moist
cloth.
12. Check nger elements and springs for damage and wear. The primary wearing part on a
nger element is the inner heel which rubs against the backplate. Change nger set if the
at area is larger than 1.5 mm.
13. Check backplate and replace it if the brush in the area of the grain conveyor shows signs
of wear on the left side.
14. Check brush and replace it annually or after 30-40 hectares per row. Use only an adjust-
able PCS-brush. Other brushes are too stiff and increase skipping.
15. Check the stopper element for trapped deposits and wear. The inner side of the stopper
is visible through the exit hole in the backplate.
18 | Operating Instructions - Extract PCS 8652.80.101.1_en_8_0
Care and maintenance
16. Check the belt housing on the underside of the dosing element for dents and rough edg-
es.
17. Check plastic cover for damage or tearing.
18. Test the dosage elements on a PCS- test stand for performance optimization and correct
brush setting .
Clean PCS-dosing elements
Clean the PCS-housing interior by blowing it out with dry compressed air. Cleaning is to take
place outdoors. The seed tank must be empty.
CAUTION
Seed dressing is toxic and may irritate eyes, respiratory tract and skin.
Use a face guard for eye and airway protection.
Wear gloves to protect hands.
CAUTION
Danger of crushing from a running elevator belt with inspection cover open.
Do not reach into the PCS-housing.
1. Open the PCS-housing inspection cover
p
p
p
.
2. Open the discharge aperture.
3. Activate the emergency operation mode
and set a speed of 1 kmh.
4. Activate and switch on the PCS-drive, and
switch on the seed blower.
5. Blow out the PCS-housing with com-
pressed air while the elevator belt is
running.
6. Check the edge of the grain conveyor and the housing backplate for wear. Have
maintenance performed in a specialist workshop if there is severe wear.
7. The elevator belt must run in the middle and the belt nubs must all be equidistant to
the housing backplate in the area of the grain conveyor.
8. Check the elevator belt and the belt nubs visually for cracks. Have the elevator belt re-
placed if it runs unevenly, if it is torn or has become brittle.
9. Visually check that the elevator wheel retainer nubs are complete. Have the elevator
wheel replaced if belt nubs are missing or broken.
10. Spray the inside of the PCS-housing with a preserving agent. A special preserving spray
suited to this purpose is available upon request. No lubricants containing preserving
agents e.g. WD-40

Care and maintenance
NOTE
Maintenance and replacement recommendations.
We recommend having the PCS- dosing elements inspected in a specialist workshop at
the end of the season.
The elevator belts should be replaced in a specialist workshop after a operating period
of three years, at the most.
The brushes should be replaced in a specialist workshop after 30-40 hectares of sowing
per row.
Storing removed PCS-dosing elements
1. Before storing the PCS-dosing elements, remove all seed grains and blow out all resi-
dues and dirt from the dosing elements using dry compressed air .
2. Shift the elevator belt so that all retainers are inside the belt housing, and to protect it
from damage.
3. Store the PCS-dosing elements in such a way that no seed grains lie on the stopper
element.
4. Store in a dry, rodent-free container.
