ADJUSTMENTS

Before installing this product, check
the contents of the kit listed below. If
anything is missing, please contact
your nearest Öhlins dealer.
Kit Contents

During storage and transportation,
especially at high ambient temperature,
the oil and grease used for assembling
may run out inside the packing and
damage the expanded polystyrene
packing material. This is not unusual
and is in no way detrimental to the
product.
Spring preload
Use the C-spanner provided in this kit.
Turn the spring platform nut (A) to set
the spring preload. Lock the setting
with the lock nut (B).
Compression damping
Low speed: Turn the slotted centre
screw.
High speed: Turn the hexagon screw.
Turn clockwise (+) to increase damp-
ing, turn counter clockwise (-) to
decrease.
Rebound damping
Turn the wheel on the piston shaft
above the end eye/ bracket. Turn
clockwise (+) to increase damping,
turn counter clockwise (-) to decrease.

NOTE!
When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber
is dialed to recommended settings for the
specific brand and make of the vehicle. If you
have changed the setting, reset according to
the Set-up data.
To reset: The adjuster has a right hand thread.
Turn the adjuster clockwise to fully closed
(pos. zero [0]). Turn counter clockwise to
open and count the clicks until you reach the
recommended number in the Set-up data.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing surfaces can
be damaged. Handtighten only.

Mounting Instructions
SHOCK ABSORBER YA 954 Centre
for Yamaha FX Nytro XTX
with set-up data
Before riding, always ensure that the basic set-
tings made by Öhlins are intact.
NOTE!
Read about Rear Ride Height in the Öhlins

WARNING!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install
the shock absorber.

Compress the rear suspension so that the
limiter straps are no longer tight.

Remove the upper screws of the limiter straps.

Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground. Make sure that
the vehicle is securely supported so that it
will not tip over.

Remove the lower attachment of the original
centre shock absorber. Remove the left
idle wheel by loosening the screw. Note the
position of the screw!

Install the Öhlins shock absorber. The
piggyback reservoir should be at the top and
to the right according to the figure.

Reinstall the left idle wheel.

Reinstall the upper screws of the limiter straps.
Turn the upper screwhead on the right hand
side towards the rear of the vehicle (towards
the shock absorber).

Make sure that all removed parts are securely
attached.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the shock absorber when the
suspension is fully compressed or extended.
