Cobalt Digital 9490CWDM Multi-Channel Fiber Optical Multiplexers and De-Multiplexers

These devices allow for the transmission of multiple optical signals over a single fiber optic cable. The multiplexers combine multiple signals onto a single fiber, while the demultiplexers separate the signals back into their individual channels. This can be useful for a variety of applications, such as:

  • Transmitting multiple video signals over a single fiber optic cable
  • Combining multiple data signals onto a single fiber optic cable
  • Extending the range of a fiber optic signal by using a multiplexer and demultiplexer at each end of the link

Unit Installation and Rear I/O Module Connections
Install the mux/de-mux units and connect fiber cabling as shown in the illustration below and as described below.
1. Install the rear module in the desired 20-slot frame slot pair (mux or de-mux unit and its rear module occupies 2 card slots).
2. Install the mux or demux unit in the frame to mate with the rear module.
3. Remove protective caps on couplers and install cable onto connectors.
