Checking Print Remaining Time and Length
[Overview]
Added the new function to display the print remaining time and length on the control panel.
[How to operate]
Print Remaining Time
The print remaining time is displayed on the top screen of the control panel. It alternates
with "Operational status or messages" when the printer is in the "Printing" or "Drying"
state.
Note:
- It shows the total remaining time including the printing and the drying after printing.
Also, it shows in minutes for up to 99 hours and 59 minutes.
- It shows the remaining time for one job currently being printed. Even if multiple jobs
are queued in RIP such as "Continuous Printing", the total remaining time of all jobs
cannot be displayed.
- This print remaining time is an approximate guideline and may not necessarily match
the actual time.
(e.g.)
If the data transmission to the printer is delayed due to the network
environment or the RIP PC performance, the actual printing time will be longer
than the displayed time.
If "Skip White Space" or "Skip White Areas" is set to "ON", the actual printing
time will be shorter than the displayed time. It can be work by changing the
RIP settings. For details, please refer to the separate "RIP Settings Guide".

Print Remaining Length / Total Length
The print remaining length / total length is displayed on the "Job" tab of the control panel.
1. Press [Check Status] key during printing.
2. Press [Job] tab.
Note:
- The print remaining length / total length indicate the feed length required for the
machine to complete the print. Therefore, it will not be the same as the actual printed
image length.
(e.g. In a typical print job with 4C, it is displayed about 0.16 m / 0.52 feet (Total length
for 3 heads) longer than the actual image length.)
- It shows the print remaining length / total length for one job currently being printed.
Even if multiple jobs are queued in RIP such as "Continuous Printing", the total
length of all jobs cannot be displayed.
- This print remaining length / total length is an approximate guideline and may not
necessarily match the actual length.

Performing Head Cleaning During Printing
[Overview]
Added the new function to perform head cleaning during printing. This allows you to clean
the head immediately when you find a nozzle missing during printing.
[How to operate]
1. Press [Printing Adjustment] during printing.
2. Press [Nozzle Cleaning] and [Execute].
Note:
- If head cleaning is performed during printing, the drying time will change compared to
the area printed normally, and the color of the printed images may change. Therefore,
the regular print quality cannot be guaranteed when using this function.
- Note that the color tends to change especially when the temperature of the print heater
is low (e.g. 40°C/104°F or less). Therefore, it is recommended to use this function only
when the temperature of the print heater is high (e.g. 50°C/122°F or higher).
- When this function is performed, the 3 heads will be cleaned in sequence. Each head
cannot be cleaned individually during printing.

printing. This allows you to make fine adjustments during printing while viewing the printed
image, saving you more steps and time than before. (Previously, it was necessary to stop
printing once, make fine adjustments, and then reprint.)
[How to operate]
1. Press [Printing Adjustment] during printing.
2. Press [Media Feed Fine Adjustment].
3. Press [ON].
4. Press [+] or [-] to adjust.
Note:

Added Alert Message of Intermittent
Printing
Descriptions and Actions for Intermittent Printing
[Overview]
This printer is recommended for use in Gigabit Ethernet network.
If the network environment or RIP PC performance is poor, data transfer to the printer may
be delayed, resulting in "Intermittent Printing"
(*1)
. If you continue to print in this behavior, the
printing speed may decrease, and image quality may defect such as unstable color due to
fluctuations in drying time.
Therefore, the new alert message has been added to inform the operators that the current
printing behavior is in "Intermittent Printing".
(*1): The behavior in which the head carriage waits for a few seconds or minutes at the left
and right edges of the printer during printing.
[How to operate]
Select ON/OFF for this alert message
Usually, "ON" should be selected to use the printer. If alert messages are displayed
frequently and you cannot improve your network or PC environment immediately, stop
printing and temporarily turn OFF this alert message by following the steps below.
Then, after improving the environment, turn it back ON again.
1. Press [User Tools] key on the control panel.
2. Press [Display Print Settings].
3. Press [Display Print Warning Speed].
[ON]: Show alert message of Intermittent Printing (Default)
[OFF]: Do not show alert message of Intermittent Printing
Added Alert Message of Intermittent Printing
9
When the alert message is displayed
Stop current printing once and review your network and RIP PC environment. In general,
check the following points. If the problem persists, contact your service representative.
- If "100 Mbps" is selected as the "Ethernet Speed" setting in the "Network Settings" of
the printer, change the access speed to "Auto Selection" by following steps.
1. Press [User Tools] key on the control panel.
2. Press [Network Settings].
3. Press [Ethernet Speed].
4. Select [Auto Selection].
- Check if your LAN is built with slower speed than the Gigabit Ethernet (GbE).
- Check if your LAN cables, HUB, or network port of your PC supports GbE.
- Check if your network device is operating on GbE mode.
- Check if other devices are transmitting a large amount of data within the same LAN.
(e.g. Disconnect the printer and PC from your network once and connect them
directly peer-to-peer to see if the problem improves.)
- Check if your RIP software is installed correctly. (e.g. The software is usually
installed on C drive. If the software is installed on the external drive, the performance
may be significantly reduced. Follow the notes in your RIP installation manual, etc.)
- Check if your PC meets the recommended operating conditions of your RIP software
and if there is enough free space on the memory and/or HDD.

Added New Drying Operation
Reducing Media Consumption Between Job to Job
[Overview]
Added the new drying operation to reduce media consumption between jobs.
This function described in this chapter is available from the following firmware versions.
System : 2.03 or later
Engine : 2.03:01 or later
[How to operate]
Prevent Drying After Printing
When "Prevent Drying After Printing" is set to "On" by following the steps below, the
machine does not dry the printed image after printing. So, it can reduce the amount of
media used, because the margins that are required for drying are reduced.
The undried part at the end of the printed image dries when you print the next job.
1. Press [Standard Procedure] key.
2. Press [Dry After Printing].
3. Press [Prevent Drying After Printing]
[ON]: Do not dry the printed image after printing
[OFF]: Dry the printed image after printing (Default)
Note:
- If you use this feature and print the next image with a different print mode, drying
may not be enough. Therefore, it is recommended to print the next jobs in the same
print mode or in a print mode with a large number of passes. If you print with a
different print mode, print quality cannot be guaranteed.
- The printed image is left on the post-heater, which may cause waving of the media
or melting the release paper (for adhesive media).
- This function will not operate if you have specified the settings for "Auto Cutting
Media after Printing"
(*1)
or if "Auto Rewind after Drying"
(*2)
is set to "On".
(*1): Also called "Roll to Cut", it can be work by changing the RIP settings. For
details, please refer to the separate "Solutions manual".
(*2): It can be work by [Standard Procedure] key -> [Media Settings] -> [Auto
Rewinding after Drying]. For details, please refer to the separate "Solutions
manual".
Added New Drying Operation

Execute Drying After Printing
Performs only the drying operation for the undried part of the printed image by following
the steps below.
Use this feature when you want to dry the undried part of the printed image without
printing the next job.
1. Press [Standard Procedure] key.
2. Press [Dry After Printing].
3. Press [Execute Drying After Printing]
4. Press [Execute]
Note:
- This feature does not work when the media is not set, when the heater setting are
"OFF", or until any printing is done after returning from sleep mode.
