This manual is also suitable for

DEXAPLAN DP 601 - 9-2005 includes an indoor and an outside unit. The outside unit is splash-proof, has a bell button, name plate window, microphone and a speaker. It can be mounted outside your house. The indoor unit is for inside mounting only, it has a door release button, microphone and a speaker and needs to be connected to the mains power (230V, 50 Hz). The indoor and outdoor unit can be connected via a twin-core cable (with coded cores, length max. 200 m) to enable communication and to unlock a door (if connected to a standard 12 V DC door release which is not included in the package).

Introduction
Please read these operating instructions thoroughly
and carefully. They are part of this product and
contain important instructions relating to its operation
and handling.
Please always observe all safety instructions. Before
initial operation, please check that all parts are fitted
correctly. If you have any questions or are unsure
about handling of the device, please consult a spe
-
cialist or contact the service office. Please keep
these instructions in a safe place and pass them on
to anyone else intending to use the device.
Proper use
This door intercom comprises an indooor and an
outdoor unit. The indoor unit generates a ring sig
-
nal and is used to speak into, listen and to activate
an optionally connected standard 12 V DC door re
-
lease (not included). Installation of the indoor unit is
only permitted indoors. The power must be sup
-
plied from the 230 V ~ 50 Hz mains supply. Con
-
nection of a standard 12 V DC door release (not in
-
is possible with a twin-core cable with
coded cores (not included). The outdoor unit is sui
-
table for ringing the door bell, speaking, listening
and for flush-mounted installation outside (entran
-
ce area). The connection between the indoor and
outdoor units can be made with twin-core ca-
ble (with coded cores, length max. 200 m) (9m
twin-core cable included). The installation location
must be protected or equipped with a suitable co-
ver (e.g. a permanently installed canopy). The door
intercom is intended for private use only. Any other
use or modification of the device constitutes im
-
proper use and poses a serious risk of accident. The
manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by im
-
proper use or incorrect operation of the device.

Clean the components with a dry or slightly
damp cloth only. Keep the components and cable
dry when cleaning. Otherwise there is a risk of

Only use the device with the supplied original

instructions.
Before assembly and initial operation of the
device, check that the delivery is complete and
undamaged.
The device must only be repaired by authorized
and skilled specialists. Failure to observe this
instruction risks damage resulting from improper
use and loss of the warranty.
Use the indoor unit

at an operating tempera-
ture of + C - + 4 C. Higher or lower tempe

ratures can adversely affect operation.
If required, a standard 12 V DC door release
can be connected to the system. The door
release must be operated with 12 V DC and
have a max. current consumption of 1 A.
The mains cable
T
for this door intercom
must only be replaced by the manufacturer or
by an authorized specialist.
Only use suitable tools for installation (faste
-
ning screws and wall plugs are included).
Install the outdoor unit so that it is protected
from external influences (e.g. rain or snow).
Make sure that the device is not exposed to
strong static, electric or high frequency fields
(static discharge, mobile radiotelephone, radio
sets, microwaves). These may have an adverse
effect on the function of the door intercom.
The packaging material and old appliances
should not be thrown away but recycled. Please
take packaging materials to a disposal facility
in your city or district. When the device has
reached the end of its useful life, please like
-
wise take it to an appropriate disposal facility
in your city or district. By doing this, you are
fulfilling your legal obligations and making an
important contribution to protecting the envi-
ronment.

Preparation and material required
The stated materials are not included. The informa-
tion provided here is non-binding and intended as a
guide. The quality of the material depends on indi

vidual local requirements.
A mains socket for mains power supply
230 V ~ 50 Hz (equipped with a max. 16 A fuse).
A pen to mark the mounting points.
A crosstip screwdriver for installation with the
fastening screws and dowels, and for connection
of the cable.
Wire stripper for connection of the cables.
A hammer drill and 6 mm ø drill bit for the drilled
holes.
Tools (e.g. hammer and flat chisel) to make the
necessary recess 110 x 175 x 45 mm (w x h x d)
for flush installation of the outdoor unit.
Optional:
A standard cable duct for installation of the
twin-core cable.
Silicone for sealing work after installation of
the flush mount box

Choosing the installation positions

Decide on a suitable position for installation of
the indoor unit

, the outdoor unit and optio-
nally for the door release (see manufacturer‘s
instructions in the operating manual for the
door release). Please make sure that there is a
mains socket for the mains power supply at a
max. distance of 1.5 m from the indoor unit

You may install the indoor unit

either on an
even surface (shelf or cabinet) or on a wall.
Make sure that the cable is a suitable length.
Connection
The cable included is equipped with cable lugs
(fork-type) for connection of the indoor unit

and
the outdoor unit.
Lead the twin-core cable from the installation
site of the indoor unit

to the installation site
of the outdoor unit.
Install the cable so that it is protected from ex-
ternal influences, e.g. concealed, if
necessary use a standard cable duct.
Make sure that you have approx. 50 cm of ca-
ble available for connection directly at the con
-
necting areas for the indoor unit

and out-
door unit.
Optional
If you are using a cable without cable lugs (fork-
type), you will need to bare the ends of the cables.
Carefully remove the insulation from the end of
the cable cores to a length of approx. 8 mm.

If a door release is connected, you can unlock the
door/the gate in the following way:

A door release with holding function is unlocked

the visitor has opened the door. It is possible to
open the door during the time in which you are

The sound of the visitor‘s voice is weak.
The visitor is standing too far away from the
outdoor unit.
Ask the visitor to move closer to the outdoor unit.
Maintenance and cleaning
Disconnect the indoor unit
Q
from the power
supply before maintenance and cleaning.
Check the technical safety and function of the
device regularly.
Use a soft cloth and a mild agent, if necessary
mild soap suds, to clean the plastic and metallic
surfaces.
Never use solvents, thinner or similar chemical
substances.
Remove deposits of dust from the air vents
with a brush or use a vacuum cleaner at
min. 5 cm distance from the components.
Disposal
Please take all packaging materials to a disposal
facility in your city or district. The recyclable
packaging materials have been selected for their
ecologically compatible and disposable properties.
In accordance with European Directive 2002/96/EC
on used electrical and electronic appliances and its
implementation in national law, used electrical
devices must be collected separately and recycled
in an ecologically compatible manner. Please take
the device to a disposal facility in your city or district
after its useful life. By following these requirements
you are meeting your legal obligations and making
an important contribution to protecting the
environment.
Warranty
This device has a warranty of 3 years from the date
of purchase. The device was manufactured with
care and inspected thoroughly before delivery. Ple
-
ase keep your receipt as proof of purchase. If you
have a claim under the warranty, please contact
the service office for your country. This is the only
way to ensure that your device can be sent in free
of charge. This warranty is only valid for the first
purchaser and is not transferable.
The warranty only covers material or manufacturing
defects. It does not apply to worn parts or damage
to fragile parts, e.g. switches. The product is intended
solely for private use and not for commercial use.
In the event of incorrect and/or improper handling,
the use of force or any work on the device that is
not performed by the service office, the warranty
shall expire. This warranty does not restrict your
statutory rights.
