One
The roots of Atlas Sound can be traced through various points in history as well as back to the very origin of the commercial sound industry.
During the Warren Harding political campaign of the late 1920's, it became clear the larger crowds would demand better sound reproduction than
that offered by the traditional megaphone held in front of the candidate. The talking movie era ushered in the use of new electronics, amplifiers, and
subsequently electro-dynamic loudspeakers.
Soon after, in 1934, Brooklyn-based Atlas Sound became one of the first companies to combine the familiar horn shape of the megaphone with, at
that time advanced, electroacoustics to create outdoor public address, or PA loudspeakers.
These PA systems resolved the sound reproduction problems identified at public gatherings and were quickly adopted, making them mainstream.
As the years progressed, requirements for specialized loudspeaker products fueled advancements and new technologies.
While the origin of Atlas Sound specialized in outdoor loudspeakers, the company's founders took great interest in mechanical devises and tooling.
Coupled with the growth of their outdoor loudspeaker business and their interest in machining, the founders recognized the potential in manufactur-
ing microphone stands.
In 1956 Soundolier was formed in St. Louis, MO; originally a division of an electric company that produced lighting fixtures, Soundolier was created
to lead the company into the field of acoustics, combining lighting with audio. Always known as an innovator, the firm was the first to introduce
decorator-style loudspeakers, factory assembled speaker packages and quick mounting speaker fixtures.
Seizing the opportunity to capitalize on the synergies between the two industries leaders, Atlas Sound and Soundolier merged in 1983. The newly
formed entity applied their complementary technologies and products to provide the commercial sound industry with unparalleled solutions.
Over the years Atlas Sound continued to deliver solutions for commercial audio and to this day the name Atlas Sound remains synonymous with
loudspeakers and microphone stands.
Although Atlas Sound has been the leader in commercial sound since 1934 and has enjoyed a reputation for leadership in product innovation, wide
product selection, and stability; growth, expansion, and the ability to provide the market with quality and timely solutions have been the mantra.
Atlas Sound continually invests in new technologies that provides its customers with professional, quality solutions. Recently, Atlas Sound has
broadened its product and solution offering to include LAN/WAN, VoIP, and sophisticated communication products. While the basis and foundation

With a 130° coverage pattern in the 2 kHz octave band, the FAP42T is a perfect fit for installation in ceiling heights
up to 12'. Using the Ceiling Speaker Placement Tool from AtlasSound.com, you will see that fewer loudspeakers are
required to achieve uniform coverage vs. a typical 8" device. The highly efficient FA134 4" coaxial driver coupled with a
quality 70.7V / 100V transformer ensures ample output. For most office or restaurant applications with 9' ceilings the
16 watt maximum tap setting will provide upwards of 96 dB SPL at seated ear height!

FAP62T
Flat midrange response, coverage pattern of 110° and maximum 70V / 100V transformer tap of 32 watts makes the
FAP62T an excellent choice for speech reinforcement and/or paging systems in airports, casinos and restaurants with
ceiling heights up to 18'. The FA136, 6" coaxial driver used in the FAP62T provides legacy performance with modern
installation convenience.

With an overall depth of 4.25" (108 mm), the FAP42TC is the perfect choice when High-Fidelity audio and wide, even
coverage is required but space above the plenum is limited. For wall mount applications (tanning salons or surround
sound) the short 4" depth will work in most stud wall installations.

The FAP42-RR "Retro Ring" kit allows the FAP42T(C) to be installed into a typical 8" loudspeaker (SD72W or equiva-
lent) cutout up to 12".
Kit consists of one 13.75" oversized trim ring and four special extension "Dog Legs". The C-Ring and V-Rail assembly
included with the FAP42T(C) mounts atop the mineral tile as normal with the FAP42T(C) mounted through the center
hole of the FAP42-RR. The extended dog legs are then tightened, drawing the entire assembly fl ush to the ceiling.
FA42T-6MB / FA62T-8MB
Atlas Sound has addressed retrofi t and "division of labor" installations with "motor board" versions of the Strategy
Series
®
II.
Model FA42T-6MB is the entire 4" speaker / transformer / selector switch / front plate assembly found in the FAP42T
assembly. The footprint of the FA42T-6MB is identical to a standard FA series 6" speaker component. This footprint
allows the motor board to fi t into all current Strategy Series
®
I 6" enclosures in the exact same manner as a regular 6"
FA Series speaker.
Model FA62T-8MB is the entire 6" speaker/transformer/selector switch/front plate assembly found in the FAP62T
assembly. The footprint of the FA62T-8MB is identical to a standard FA Series 8" speaker component. This footprint
allows the motor board to fi t into all current Strategy Series

Designed to provide high performance in a very compact footprint, the FAP40T appeals to both system designers and
architects. FAP40T is ideal for high-intelligibility voice, music, and signal reproduction in commercial, industrial, and
institutional applications.
A unique tap selector switch design allows for easy system tuning. A full selection of taps up to 16 watts as well as
an 8 Ω transformer bypass setting is included for maximum system versatility. This switch "knob" also functions as a
diffuser cone, providing smooth, even dispersion of the high frequency content from the center of the 4" polypropyl-
ene driver. The high frequency response of the FAP40T is so natural that many would assume that the driver in the
FAP40T was a coaxial design instead of a single cone driver.
Low frequency response is enhanced by the tuned and ported enclosure design. The UL Listed enclosure is con-
structed of high impact injection molded plastic and includes a press fit grille design that blends well with contempo-
rary architecture.
A two pole terminal block housed below a metal removable cover on the back of the FAP40T enclosure allows for
easy system wiring as well as "daisy chain" wiring to other FAP40Ts or even FAPSUB subwoofers (a great combina-
tion).
Accessories
A Tile Bridge is included in the package for suspended ceiling applications. The light weight design of the FAP40T
coupled with the "Dog Leg" mounting system allows the FAP40T to mount into most drywall ceilings without the
need for a separate mounting ring.
For new construction drywall ceiling applications, the optional FA-TR4 trim ring is available. The FA-TR4 provides a
marked location for drywall installers to cut around essentially reserving the desired location in the ceiling until final
installation of FAP40T. Mounting holes are provided to accommodate 16" or 24" OC stud / joist mounting.
The package includes an attractive press-fit grille, which nicely matches contemporary architecture.
The FAP40T includes a secondary support point built into the termination cover. This "ring" may be used with an
auxiliary support cable in drop tile installations.

The Atlas Sound FAP82T is a premium performance 70.7V / 100V tuned & ported 8" coaxial ceiling speaker system
perfectly suited for many business music and public address applications – especially applications where high ceilings
require loudspeakers with increased efficiency and tighter pattern control. The 8" coaxial speaker system features
extended low frequency response rivaling that of many subwoofers.
The FAP82T will satisfy the needs of owners, architects, contractors, and consultants by delivering true, High-Fidelity
sound reproduction in an attractive and easy-to-install system. The FAP82T is ideal for high-intelligibility voice, music,
and signal reproduction in commercial, industrial, and institutional applications.
Mounting is simplified with Strategy Series
®
II style "Dog Leg" tabs that allow easy installation into drop tile or drywall
ceilings with provided tile bridge assembly. The tile bridge consists of two triangular formed mounting rails and a
C-Ring assembly.
The loudspeaker component is based on the legendary Atlas Sound FA Series drivers. High quality construction 1

voice coil, 8" coaxial cone type driver includes polypropylene cone with a butyl rubber surround. The 19 mm coaxially
mounted tweeter is constructed of PEI. A high sensitivity of 90 dB average means less power may be required to
achieve the desired SPL. This loudspeaker is factory assembled to an optimally tuned & ported deep drawn enclosure
and includes a specially designed 60 watt low saturation 70.7V / 100V transformer. A convenient front mounted
selector switch allows tap selection without the need to remove the speaker from the ceiling. This tap selector switch
also includes a transformer 8 Ω bypass setting for instances where the FAP82T is to be direct coupled with a low
impedance amplifier.
For new construction drywall ceiling applications, an optional trim ring, FAP82-TR, is available. This unit provides a
marked location for drywall installers to cut around essentially reserving the desired location in the ceiling until final
installation of loudspeaker. Mounting holes are provided to accommodate 16" or 24" OC stud / joist mounting.

Atlas Sound has taken the easy to install Strategy Series
®
II ceiling speaker package to greater heights with the new
FAP8CXT. A specially tuned and ported 933 in

enclosure houses the high output Atlas Sound 8CXT60 compression
driver coaxial loudspeaker. A heavy duty "Dog Leg" mounting system in conjunction with Atlas Sound's exclusive
C-Ring V-Rail tile bridge assembly provides ease of installation into acoustic tile ceilings.
Pattern control is accurately maintained at 90˚ in the 2 kHz octave band via the Bruce Marlin (See Below) designed 1"
exit high frequency director and phase plug. This high frequency complement is coupled with an extremely durable
polypropylene woofer featuring rubber surround and powerful magnetic motor assembly to provide an overall
sensitivity of 92 dB 1 W / 1 M. An efficient 60 watt multi-tap transformer is integral to the package but may be easily
bypassed via the front mount tap selector switch for direct coupled 8 Ω operation.
For convenience the FAP8CXT is individually packaged and includes the tile bridge assembly.
For new construction drywall ceiling applications, the optional FAP82-TR may be specified.

In recent years, there has been a shift in market demand for commercial sound systems to deliver higher fidelity
sound. Retail, restaurant, and hospitality settings are finding that their customers are expecting the quality of their
shopping or dining experience to be enhanced by music reproduced at nearly the same level of sound quality they
have come to expect in their home theaters and car stereos. Business owners now realize that the excitement
caused by a quality audio system can turn into increased customer satisfaction. The FAPSUB, when used in conjunc-
tion with other Atlas Sound full-range speakers, provides great sounding background / foreground music reproduction
suitable countless applications.
The FAPSUB consists of a highly efficient 8", 8 Ω subwoofer designed and built by Atlas Sound to work optimally in
the FAPSUB enclosure system. The woofer features an extended, vented pole piece for higher excursion and better
heat dissipation and a Kapton
®
voice coil former for increased power handling.
An extremely efficient, 3-pole filtering network eliminates unwanted high frequencies above 150 Hz from the woofer,
while the 937 in
3
, tuned and ported, deep drawn steel enclosure provides low frequency response down to 45 Hz
(±10 dB).
A special low saturation 70.7V / 100V transformer is included with 1.9 to 60 watt primary taps (@ 70.7V) to match
and balance the subwoofer with full range speakers without the need for separate amplification. A convenient front
mounted selector switch allows tap selection without the need to remove the speaker from the ceiling. This tap
selector switch also includes a transformer bypass setting for 8 Ω direct coupled applications.
Mounting is simplified with Strategy style "Dog Leg" tabs that allow easy installation into drop tile or drywall ceilings
with the provided tile bridge assembly. The tile bridge consists of two triangular formed mounting rails and a C-Ring
assembly. The C-Ring can be attached to the rails with the screws provided to extend support to the T-bar grid in
suspended ceiling applications. Multiple hole locations are provided to allow the C-Ring to be positioned to the outer
edge the tile if necessary.
For existing dry-wall applications, the tile bridge C-Ring and support rails can be inserted into the hole cut for the
FAPSUB. For easy positioning, the V shaped support rails match the shape of the C-Ring tabs for easy maneuvering
and location when working "blindly" above the deck.
For new construction drywall ceiling applications, the optional FAP82-TR trim ring is available. This unit provides a
marked location for drywall installers to cut around, essentially reserving the desired location in the ceiling until final
installation of FAPSUB. Mounting holes are provided to accommodate 16" or 24" off center stud / joist mounting.

Use Atlas Sound's Surface Mount Series loudspeaker systems for commercial, professional and residential applica-
tions or where versatility and high-fidelity sound is desired. These systems are ideal for indoor and outdoor instal-
lation, in monaural and stereo foreground or background music systems, video systems in conference rooms &
classrooms, boutiques / shops, restaurants / cafes, leisure, recreation / sports centers, and houses of worship.
All models are constructed of weather resistant materials: UV-resistant, talc impregnated, polypropylene injection
molded cabinets; polypropylene or treated woofer cones; powder coated aluminum grilles and all brass hardware. The
SM Series have been evaluated for weather resistance by a stringent 100 hour salt spray test per the ASTM B117
standard passing the test with no visible corrosion or degradation of performance.
A Multi-position, C-shaped mounting bracket is included with each model at no additional cost. Optional ball mount
(model SMBALLMOUNT-B/W) available for applications where concealed mounting hardware is required.

The SM42T-B (black) and SM42T-W (white) are compact, 2-Way, (8 Ω / 70.7V) weather-resistant, surface mount
speakers designed to work in a variety of applications.
System components consist of highly efficient 4" woofer section and a dome style tweeter. Vocal and musical clarity
is optimized by the mathematically conceived, advanced design of the Atlas Sound TRX WAVEGUIDE
™
high frequency
director. The high frequency section is symmetrical (90˚ H x 90˚ V) for equal coverage in both the horizontal or vertical
cabinet mounting positions.
The SM42T systems include a versatile yet simple C-bracket designed to provide easy vertical or horizontal installation

The SM52 includes basic magnetic shielding via a bucking magnet for the woofer section allowing use in near proxim-
ity to CRT monitors. Please note that the SM52 is not 100% magnetically shielded. Mounting the speaker directly

The SM52T models include all the features of the SM52 series with the addition of an internally mounted 30 watt,
70.7V / 100V line matching transformer with screwdriver adjustable tap selection for use in distributed sound applica-
tions. Input is accomplished by a convenient 2-pole binding post with captive screw covers capable of accommodat-
ing two 14-gauge stranded wires each. Magnetic shielding and the Polyguard
™
high frequency protection are omitted
due to the 70.7V transformer.
SM82
For surface mount applications where increased output and tighter pattern control is required the SM82 series is the
perfect choice.
System components consist of a highly efficient 8" woofer section and 1" exit titanium compression driver. Like
other SM Series models the mathematically conceived, advanced design of the Atlas Sound TRX WAVEGUIDE

An 18 dB/octave 3-Pole passive crossover eliminates the need for a separate electronic network or dedicated
amplification to power the speaker. Its low crossover point (120 Hz) nearly eliminates localization, allowing a designer
to boundary-load the SM8SUB70 near a wall or into a corner for maximum output, while maintaining even coverage
throughout the space.
A premium 70.7V transformer allows the SM8SUB70 to be paralleled with any 70.7V commercial audio system to
provide extended low frequency response and more overall audio impact for foreground music systems. (Unit is also
8 Ω compatible). Perfect for use with other SM Series full range loudspeakers.

The PM4FA uses the familiar response and dispersion of Atlas Sound's FA134 high performance 4" Strategy Series
®
driver. This loudspeaker is the same FA Series driver used in Atlas Sound's successful FAP42T ceiling speaker pack-
age. Mounted down-firing in an attractive enclosure, the PM4FA provides natural sounding, wide coverage for low
height installations while retaining very impressive full range frequency response for both music and paging applica-

pedant style enclosure. Systems are available with the economical GD87 coaxial driver PM8GD to provide familiar
response and high efficiency while retaining economy when high density speaker counts are required in page only
applications. For upscale performance in retail and hospitality applications, the PM8FA system employs the popular
FA138 loudspeaker in a specifically tuned and ported enclosure to provide impressive music and page reproduction.
For ultra high ceilings ranging to 30', the PM8CX employs the Atlas Sound 8CXT60 compression driver coaxial loud-
speaker which provides excellent efficiency exceeding 96 dB 1 W / 1 M and a desirable 90° conical coverage pattern
in the 2 kHz octave band.
All models include a suspension cable system and concealment top cover to provide optimal aesthetics. Under this
cover, connection is made via terminal block for 70.7V / 100V transformer or direct coupled 8 Ω operation. To expand

The enclosure is constructed of weather-resistant, rotationally molded HDPE material to ensure the unit will maintain
a good appearance for years to come.

Models are available with an externally tap selectable 32 watt, 70.7V line transformer (HT327) or without transformer

The loudspeaker utilized is the FA138 Strategy Series

Modular design allows for a two-phase installation:
In phase one, the base may be installed (surface mount or burial) with wiring ran to the enclosure. A protective, high
visibility cover (included in the package) may be installed over the base at this time. This cover helps keep debris from
falling into the enclosure and also marks the loudspeaker location to help prevent landscape equipment operators
from damaging the enclosure.
In phase two, the sound contractor returns to install the loudspeaker head unit (which is packaged in a separate
carton). This multiple step process protects the visual portion of the device from being damaged during the construc-
tion / landscaping process, and also eliminates potential for theft from the construction site.

The cost effective 12" C12BT60 is a complement to the 8CXT60, 12CX, and 12CXT60 compression drivers for high
ceiling applications.
Atlas Sound Model C12BT60 is a professional quality coaxial loudspeaker for use where full range music and voice
reproduction are desired and is ideal for high ceiling applications.
Model C12BT60 combines a 12" diameter low frequency reproducer and a 1" diameter high frequency, post-mounted
reproducer. The unit features a unique tweeter mounting plate that maximizes the tweeter's frequency response by
reducing phase cancellation from the woofer cone. A highly efficient built-in passive crossover network is included
for determining proper frequency selection between the two drivers. Both the low frequency driver and the tweeter
feature permanently aligned voice coils (1.5" and 1" diameter, respectively) to assure distortion free performance. A
factory installed 60 watt variable tap line transformer is included with the package. The transformer can be bypassed
easily for 8 Ω applications.
The C12BT60 will work well in even the smallest volume "Q" Series enclosure (Q4412 – 2 ft
2
) with a 3 dB down point
of 68 Hz. If required, low frequency response can be extended with larger volume enclosures. The inexpensive Atlas
Sound model 95-12 round enclosure may also be used with model 61-12 baffle.

SD72W(V). The speaker used in the SD72W package is the next generation of Atlas Sound high performance cone
loudspeakers, very similar to the preceding C Series speakers. The similarity in the sonic qualities ensures that
contractors and designers who have worked with the C Series in the past will know exactly what to expect when
they purchase the SD72W package. The SD72W includes a 10 oz magnet dual cone loudspeaker with 5 watt dual
voltage transformer fully assembled onto an attractive CRS white powder coated grille (model 62-8)with standard
mounting holes to accommodate the majority of Atlas Sound standard 8" enclosure, trim rings and tile bridges. This
baffle includes welded speaker mounting studs making for a more discrete installed appearance. All mounting screws
are included in the package. Model SD72WV includes a 50 Ω baffle mounted potentiometer for applications requiring
local volume control.
GD87W. The speaker used in the GD87W package is the next generation of Atlas Sound high performance coaxial
8" cone loudspeakers, very similar to the preceding C803A Series speakers. The similarity in the sonic qualities
ensures that contractors and designers who have worked with the C803A Series in the past will know exactly what
to expect when they purchase the GD87W package. The loudspeaker is matched with a high efficiency 8 watt 70.7V
transformer with a maximum insertion loss of 0.6 dB. The primary taps are 1, 2, 4, & 8 watts. Speaker / transformer
is fully assembled onto an attractive CRS white powder coated grille (model 62-8) with standard mounting holes to
accommodate the majority of Atlas Sound standard 8" enclosure, trim rings, and tile bridges. This baffle includes
welded speaker mounting studs making for a more discrete installed appearance. All mounting screws are included in
the package.
