The Grill
Use the heat shield for indirect
cooking, with even, oven-like
heat throughout the grill.
This is the way to go for low
temperature smoking. You also
might like this for baking at
mid-range temperatures too.
Remove the heat spreader to create
a hot zone directly over the charcoal
and cooler indirect zones along the
sides of the grill.
People love this setup for searing
and reverse searing meats and
vegetables.

How do you
like your heat?
With your Spark, you can play with the
heat spreader and heat shield to create
dierent heat zones and cooking styles.
Use the heat spreader accessory
(included) to get the largest direct
heat cooking area, and a more
gradual dierential between the
center and edges of the grill.
This is the seing you’ll probably
use most often for everyday grilling.

Staing Your Spark
Add heat spreaders
for Everyday
Direct Grilling.
Or leave them out for
two-zone grilling. It’s up
to you. For more info on how
to use your heat spreaders,
see intro section.
01
Place an unwrapped
Briq
in the pan.
Make sure to put the notched
corner of the Briq in the
lower right corner of the Briq
pan, so the Briq sits at. Use
the Briq immediately after
unwrapping. If this is your rst
grill, don't forget to use the
included Seasoning Briq.
03
02
Plug in your Spark.
Open the drawer at
the front of the grill.
Close the
drawer rmly.
The drawer will be close
to ush with the kele.
04
With the lid open,
turn the ignition
switch all the way to
the right to re up
your grill.
An electric ceramic ignitor
will light the Briq.
05
06
After 2 seconds,
turn the staer
back to the center.
You’ll see a good amount of
smoke as the ignition layer
does it's thing. Close the lid
once the grill is lit.
03
Cooking With Spark
Take
Control
Turn the dial to
set your target
temperature.
01
When the halo turns
white, you’re at your
target temperature.
03
The white line
shows your target
temperature. The
orange line shows
your current grill
temperature.
02
Now it’s time to get
grilling.
This is the fun pa.
04
Set up your
food probes (optional)
Your probes connect to the
app via Bluetooth. You can
set a target temperature for
your food in the app and we’ll
notify you when your food is
peectly cooked.
05
Plug the colored
end of the probes
into your grill
You’ll see the pos on the
right side of the grill kele
07
When you’re done
cooking, turn the
staer all the way to
the left “o” position.
We recommend leaving it
plugged in for a few minutes
after cooking. The fans will
continue running to cool the
grill down.
08
Inse the pointed
metal end of the
probe into your food
To get the most accurate
reading, the tip of the probe
should sit right in the center of
your food, and should not make
contact with the grates.
06
Manual Mode
Your Spark defaults to
temperature control
mode – you set a desired
temperature and the grill
holds it.
If you'd like to grill with the
lid open, grill without the
heat spreader or if you just
want to grill by feel, you can
use Manual Mode, which
allows you to control the
fans yourself.
Cooking in
Manual Mode
To enter Manual Mode, ignite
the grill normally and allow
the Briq to heat up for at least
ve minutes.
Hold the ignition ring in the
right "ignite position" and
spin the dial one full turn
clockwise. The halo will
turn purple to indicate that
you're in Manual Mode.
0201
To go back to default
temperature control mode,
turn the ignition ring to
the “o” position then
sta the grill again by
holding the ignition ring in
the right “ignite” position
for two seconds.
04
Turning the dial up from 600–
1,000 will enable and increase
the speed of the stoking fan,
which will make the grill hoer.
Turning the dial down from 600–
200F will enable and increase
the speed of the cooling fan,
which will make the grill cooler.
The green tick mark shows the
actual temperature of the grill.
03
04
Cleaning Your Spark
Keep It
Clean
Once the grill is o
and has cooled down
completely, open
the drawer.
Remove the Briq pan.
Be careful in case the Briq
pan is still hot.
0201
Clean cool grates and
heat spreader with a
nylon brush.
DO NOT use chemical cleaners
with bleach or steel wool. We
recommend lightly oiling your
grates before cooking with
a high temperature oil, like
canola, peanut, or grapeseed.
04
Dump the cold ash in
a charcoal-safe bin
with a sealable lid.
CAUTION: Never dispose of
ash in a trash receptacle.
03
Wash the kele
with a damp rag.
Do NOT spray your grill or
side table with a hose.
Do NOT spray any household
cleaner on the dial.
