determine the appropriate PrestoPatch
TM
or compare the drawing on the
packaging
2. Stencil the hole to by using the styrofoam template to trace a circle around the
hole in the drywall leaving some space
3. Cut out the hole, on the outside edge of the circle, with a utility knife or drywall
saw
4. Clear away any loose paper or debris left in the opening with your hand
5. Fit the PrestoPatch

compound on
6. Make sure to use joint compound because spackle is not made to hold the
integrity of the wall per manufacturer’s suggestion, we are currently
assessing this.
7. Lay the plug paper side down on a flat surface and apply a generous amount of
compound to the drywall circle edge and the drywall paper
a. Fireguard Only –
Apply the joint compound to the inside edge of the hole in the wall in
addition to step G. Apply a thin coat of compound to the back of the
fireguard plug to maximize the fire rating
8. Insert the circle into the hole and smooth out the drywall paper by using a putty
knife to move excess compound under the drywall paper towards the outer
edge
9. Apply compound over the surface of the drywall paper in a circular motion
10. Once compound has dried, sand smooth, prime and paint.
