SUBJECT: New Lot-Numbering System For Applied Biosystems Chemical
Products And Supplies
Applied Biosystems has adopted a new lot-numbering system for all chemical
products and supplies. Effective November 1985, the following six digit code will be
used. Understanding this code will help you determine the manufacturing dates of
purchased chemical products.
The remaining three numerical digits are the lot of manufacture and are sequential for each
product.
Example: A5K002
* A fourth numerical digit will be used when lot number 1000 is reached.
First Digit: Manufacturing Location
Second Digit: Year (within the decade)
0-9
Third Digit: Month (as an alpha character)
A = January G = July
B = February H = August
C = March J = September
D = April K = October
E = May L = November
F = June M = December
A = Manufacturing Location
5 = 1985
K = October
002 = Lot Number Sequence*, second lot produced
