2. Operation Overview
1. Turn on power switch.
- When feed tray lever is raised, motor will rotate. Feed roller may makes 1 turn.
- When feed tray lever is lowered, motor will not rotate.
- Display will indicate the number 0.
2. When feed tray lever is raised, lower feed tray lever.
- Motor will stop.
3. Pile sheets on feed tray, adjust feed guide, and then select sheet fold pattern and sheet size.
4. Raise feed tray lever and press test feed button.
- Clutch will be activated, feed roller will make 1 turn to feed a sheet. Display will indicate the
number 1.
-
If sheet is not piled on feed tray, feed roller will not turn and the display number will remain 0.
5. Press start/stop button.
- Clutch will be activated and sheets will be fed continuously.
- Display will indicate the number of counted sheets.
6. Sheet feeding stops.
- When start/stop button is pressed, clutch will be off and only feed roller will stop.
- When feed tray lever is lowered, clutch will be off and feed roller and motor will stop.
- When feed tray empties, only feed roller will stop.
7. Turn off power switch.
- The display number will be cleared.

3. Sheet Flow
Single Fold
1. Feed roller feeds a sheet to transport roller.
2. Sheet is nipped between 1st drive and fold
rollers and then transported to buckle.
3. When sheet reaches to stopper in buckle,
sheet is buckled and the buckled part of
sheet is nipped between 2nd drive and fold
rollers.
4. The folded sheet is delivered to tray.

4. Cover Removal
Front Cover
- Bind Screw M4 x 8 (2 pcs)
NOTE
- Front cover is attached with the top edge
fitted into operation panel. Remove front
cover by pulling diagonally downward.
Side Cover
- Bind Screw M4 x 8 (4 pcs)
Rear Cover
- Bind Screw M4 x 8 (2 pcs)
- Tapping Screw M4 x 10 (2 pcs)
Tool : Phillips Screwdriver
CAUTION
- Turn off main power before removing
any covers.

(Cause 1)
Feed clutch solenoid is not
positioned properly.
(Cause 2)
Sheet presence micro-switch
on the top of feed tray mal-
functions or is not positioned
properly, or connector is not
connected properly.
(Cause 3)
Start/Stop button malfunctions.
5. Troubleshooting
A. PF-P280 does not work with start button or test feed button.
(Remedy 1)
Adjust feed clutch solenoid position so that the gap
between clutch lever and clutch stopper is 0.5 to 1 mm
(0.02" to 0.04") while feed clutch solenoid is on.
NOTE
- Fix feed clutch solenoid so that feed clutch solenoid
does not hit clutch lever.
(Remedy 2)
- Remove feed tray by removing two M5 x 10 screws and
spring from the both end of spring shaft.
- Check or replace micro-switch.
- Position micro-switch so that actuator ON position
where a click is heard is 2 to 4 mm (0.08" to 0.16")
above feed tray.
(Remedy 3)
Replace switch or whole P.C.B.

D. Double feed occurs.
(Cause)
1. Sheet is too thin. (Out of specification)
2. Double feed stop pad is smeared or worn
out. (Remedy 1)
3. Sheets are curled.
4. Sheets stick each other with ink. (Remedy 2)
5. Sheets have static electricity. (Remedy 3)
(Cause)
1. Sheet is too thick. (Out of specification)
2. Feed roller is worn out. (Remedy 1)
3. Feed roller is deteriorated. (Remedy 1)
4. Feed tray does not operate correctly because
spring is loosen. (Remedy 2)
5. Sheet is caught between feed guides too
tight. (Remedy 3)
6. Feed tray pressure is weak. (Remedy 2)
(Remedy 1)
Replace feed roller.
(Remedy 2)
Check the feed tray movement or replace
spring in the feed section.
(Remedy 3)
Adjust feed guides.
5. Troubleshooting
B. Folded sheets have wrinkles.
(Cause)
1. Sheets are too thin. (Out of specification)
2. Sheets are curled.
3. Fold rollers are not positioned properly. (Remedy 1)
4. Fold rollers are smeared with ink. (Remedy 2)
5. Fold rollers are deformed because they are worn out. (Remedy 3)
6. Bush plates do not work smoothly. (Remedy 4)
(Remedy 1)
Adjust fold rollers in proper position.
(Remedy 2)
Clean fold rollers with alcohol-soaked cloth.
(Remedy 3)
Replace fold rollers.
(Remedy 4)
Check that bush plates are not deformed and
that they operate smoothly. After that lubri-
cate fulcrum of bush plate.
(Remedy 1)
Clean double feed stop pad or replace it
with a new one.
(Remedy 2)
Fan sheets well.
(Remedy 3)
Fan sheets well a few minutes later.
C. Misfeed occurs though feed roller rotates.

5. Troubleshooting
E. Sheets are not folded correctly.
(Cause)
1. Sheet is too thin. (Out of specification)
2. Sheet is not cut square.
3. Sheet is curled.
4. Feed guides are set improperly. (Remedy 1)
5. Fold roller spring is loosen. (Remedy 2)
6. Stopper in buckle is set improperly. (Remedy 3)
7. Fold rollers are smeared with ink. (Remedy 4)
8. Paper dust is collected in buckle. (Remedy 5)
9. Support rollers are set improperly. (Remedy 6)
10. Feed roller or double feed stop pad is worn out. (Remedy 7)
11. Fold roller is worn out. (Remedy 8)
(Remedy 1)
- Adjust feed guides so that feed guides are
right-angled to front guide and feed guides
are parallel each other.
- The standard position of feed guide adjust
lever is the red mark position..
(Remedy 2)
Replace fold roller spring.

5. Troubleshooting
(Remedy 3)
1. Turn power off and remove power cord.
2. Remove front cover, rear cover and side
covers.
3. Remove feed tray on the support side and
move 1st stopper to the left until it appears
under feed tray.
4. Press feed clutch lever while turning
timing pulley to feed exactly square A3
size sheet to buckle by hand. Check that
sheet is fed straightly.
5. Check that the leading edge of the sheet is
parallel to buckle stopper.
6. If buckle stopper is not parallel with sheet
edge, loosen two timing pulley fix screws
and adjust the stopper angle so that it is
parallel to the sheet.
(Remedy 4)
Clean fold rollers with alcohol-soaked
cloth.
(Remedy 5)
Remove paper dust in buckle.
(Remedy 6)
Readjust the support roller position.
(Remedy 7)
Replace feed roller or double feed stop pad.
(Remedy 8)
Replace fold rollers.

5. Troubleshooting
F. Counter does not count though sheets are folded correctly.
(Cause)
1. Count sensor is dirty.
2. Sheet size is irregular or the
fold pattern is not regular.
3. A sheet is jammed in the
sensor section or buckle.
(Remedy)
1. Clean sensor. (Refer to page 12.) If counter does still not
works correctly, check the wiring, replace sensor or
replace control P.C.B.
NOTE
- To check count sensor, measure the voltage between
Pin 3 and Pin 4 in CON 4 on P.C.B.
Sheet Presence : 3 to 5 V
No Sheet : 0 to 0.5 V
2. Select short fold or accordion fold with select button to
provide interval between each sheet.
3. Remove the jammed sheet.

5. Remove indication sign panel.
(B4-8W screw : 4 pcs)
6. Remove bracket. (B4-8W screw : 6 pcs)
7. Remove buckle stopper shaft.
(B4-8W screw : 2 pcs)
8. Pull out buckle.
9. Replace sensor P.C.B.
