•Donotperformmaintenanceorrepairswhile
theengineisrunning.
EmptyingtheGrassBags
Becarefulwhenliftingorhandlingagrassbagthatis
full.Toemptythegrassbags,dothefollowingsteps:
1.Stopthetractor,settheparkingbrake,and
disengagethepowertake-off(PTO)bypushingthe
PTOcontroltotheOffposition.
Note:Thisstopsthemowerblades.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Squeezethebaghandlesandswingitdownfrom
thebagframebracket.
4.Compressthedebrisintothebags.Usebothhands
topullthebagoutfromunderthegrasscatcher
cover.
5.Emptythegrassbag.
6.Repeatsteps4and5fortheotherbag.
7.Slidethegrassbagunderthegrasscatchercover
andpositionthefrontedgeofthebagrodintothe
screensupportbracketonthebagframe(Figure9).
8.Lifttherearofthebaguptothegrasscatchercover.
Squeezethebaghandlesandallowthemtosnap
intothebagframebrackets(
Figure10).

ClearingObstructionsfrom
theGrassCatcher
1.Stopthetractor,settheparkingbrake,and
disengagethepowertake-off(PTO)bypushingthe
PTOcontroltotheOffposition.

2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Checkthegrassbagsandemptythemiftheyarefull.
4.Removeandseparatethedischargetubeandchute
fromthegrasscatchercoverandmower.
Note:Useasticktocarefullyremoveandclearthe
obstructionfromthemower,dischargetube,chute,
andthegrasscatchercover.
5.Afterremovingtheobstruction,installthegrass
catcherandresumeoperation.
OperatingandBaggingTips
Size
Rememberthatthetractorislongerandwiderwiththe
attachmentinstalled.Byturningtoosharplyinconned
places,youmaydamagetheattachment.
Trimming
Alwaystrimwiththeleftsideofthemower.Donot
trimwiththerightsideofthemowerbecauseyoucould
damagethegrasscatcher’schuteanddischargetube.
CuttingHeight
Donotsetthemowercuttingheighttoolowbecause
longgrasssurroundingthemowercanpreventairfrom
gettingunderthemowerandenteringthegrasscatcher.
Ifenoughairdoesn’tgetunderthemower,thegrass
catcherwillplug.
CuttingFrequency
Cutthegrassoften,especiallywhenitgrowsrapidly.
youwillhavetocutyourgrasstwiceifitgetsexcessively
long.RefertoBaggingLongGrass.
CuttingTechnique
Forthebestlawnappearance,slightlyoverlapthe
mowerintothepreviouslycutarea.Thisreducesthe
loadontheengineandthechanceofpluggingthegrass
catcher.
UsingBags
Althoughtheyarenotrequired,bagsmaybeinserted
intoeachclothgrassbagasalinertocollectclippings
andmakedisposalmoreconvenient(Figure11).Ifyou
useabagliner,removethelledgrassbagandclosethe
topoftheliner.Thenpullthelineroutthegrassbag
orturnthebagupsidedownwhileholdingthehandle
onthebottomofthegrassbag(thisallowstheliner
toslideout).
