5.Pushthedumphandledownuntilitstops.
AttachingtheGrassBaskettothe
Tractor
1.Insertthehitchpinonthegrasscatcherintothe
mountingholeinthetractorhitch.
2.Rotatethegrasscatcherupsothatthepinsonthe
mountingframeslidethroughthemountingholes
onthetractor,andsecurethepinswiththehairpin
cotters.
AssemblingandInstallingtheChute
andDischargeTube
1.Liftthemowerdeectorandslidethefrontofthe
chuteintothelockingpositiononthemowerand
insertthelockingpin(Figure6).

RemovingtheGrassCatcher
NoPartsRequired
Procedure
DANGER
Operatingthetractorandmowerwiththedischarge
tuberemovedexposesyouandotherstothrown
debrisandbladecontact,potentiallycausingsevere
injuryordeath.
Alwaysoperatethemowerwiththecompletegrass
catchermountedinplaceorusethemowertoside
discharge,ensuringthatthespring-loadedgrass
deectorisinthedownposition.
1.Pushonthetabonthechuteandpullthedischarge
tubefreefromthechuteandgrasscatcher(
Figure7).
2.Releasetheexiblelatchandremovethelockingpin
thatsecuresthechutetothemower.
3.Pullthechuteoutofthemower(Figure6).
4.Removethehairpincottersthatsecurethegrass
baskettotheuppermountingbracketonthemower.
5.Rockthegrassbasketbackward,thenpullitfreeof
themowerhitch.
6.Storeallgrasscatcherpartsinaconvenientplace.
Operation
CAUTION
Toavoidpersonalinjury,dothefollowing:
Becomefamiliarwithalloperatingandsafety
instructionsinthe
Operator’ s Man ual
foryour
tractorandmowerbeforeusingtheattachment.
Donotremovethedischargetube,bags,bagger
top,ortheblowerwhiletheengineisrunning.
Alwaysshuttheengineoffbeforeclearingan
obstructionfromthevacuumbaggingsystem.
Donotperformmaintenanceorrepairswhile
theengineisrunning.
EmptyingtheGrassBasket
1.Stopthetractor,settheparkingbrake,and
disengagethepowertake-off(PTO)bypushingthe
PTOcontroltotheOffposition.
Note:Thisstopsthemowerblades.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop.
3.Pulluponthedumphandleandswingthegrass
basketopen.
4.Emptythegrassbasket.
5.Closethegrassbasketcompletelyandpushthe
dumphandledownuntilitstops.
Note:Ensurethatthegrassbasketwillnotopen.
ClearingObstructionsfrom
theGrassCatcher
1.Stopthetractor,settheparkingbrake,and
disengagethepowertake-off(PTO)bypushingthe
PTOcontroltotheOffposition.
Note:Thisstopsthemowerblades.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartsto
stop.
3.Checkthegrassbasketandemptyitifitisfull.
4.Removeandseparatethedischargetubeandchute
fromthegrassbasketandmower.
Note:Useasticktocarefullyremoveandclearthe
obstructionfromthemower,dischargetube,chute,
andthegrassbasket.
5.Afterremovingtheobstruction,installthegrass
catcherandresumeoperation.

OperatingandBaggingTips
Size
Rememberthatthetractorislongerandwiderwiththe
attachmentinstalled.Byturningtoosharplyinconned
places,youmaydamagetheattachment.
Trimming
Alwaystrimwiththeleftsideofthemower.Donot
trimwiththerightsideofthemowerbecauseyoucould
damagethebaggerbloweranddischargetube.
CuttingHeight
Donotsetthemowercuttingheighttoolowbecause
longgrasssurroundingthemowercanpreventairfrom
gettingunderthemowerandenteringthegrasscatcher.
Ifenoughairdoesntgetunderthemower,thebagging
systemwillplug.
CuttingFrequency
Cutthegrassoften,especiallywhenitgrowsrapidly.
youwillhavetocutyourgrasstwiceifitgetsexcessively
long.RefertoBaggingLongGrass.
CuttingTechnique
Forthebestlawnappearance,slightlyoverlapthe
mowerintothepreviouslycutarea.Thisreducesthe
loadontheengineandthechanceofpluggingthegrass
catcher.
GrassCatchingSpeed
Mostoftenyouwillbagwiththetractorthrottleinthe
Fastpositionanddriveinrstgear,whichistheslowest
groundspeed.However,inextremelydryanddusty
grass,youmaywanttoslightlyreducethethrottlespeed
andshiftthegearsectortoahighergeartomaintain
thegroundspeedofthetractor.Thegrasscatchermay
plugifyoudrivetoofast,causingtheenginetoslow
downwiththeextraworkload.
CAUTION
Asthegrassbagsll,extraweightisaddedtothe
backofthetractor.Ifyoustopandstartsuddenly
onhills,youmaylosecontrolofthesteeringorthe
tractormaytipover.
Donotstartorstopsuddenlywhengoinguphill
ordownhill.
Avoiduphillstarts.
Ifyoudostopthetractorwhengoinguphill,
disengagethePTObypushingthePTOcontrol
totheOffposition,thenbackdownthehill
usingslowreversespeed.
Donotchangeseedsorstoponslopes.
CatchingLongGrass
Excessivelylonggrassisheavyandmaynotbe
propelledcompletelyintothegrassbasket.Ifthis
happens,thedischargetubemayplug.Toavoid
pluggingthegrasscatcher,mowthegrassatahigh
height-of-cut,thenlowerthemowertoyournormal
cuttingheightandrepeattheprocess.
CatchingWetGrass
Alwaystrytocutgrasswhenitisdrybecauseyour
lawnwillhaveaneatappearance.Ifyoumustcutwet
grass,usetheconventionalsidedischargefeatureofthe
mower.Severalhourslater,whentheclippingsaredry,
installthecompletecatcherandvacuumupthegrass
clippings.
SignsofPlugging
Asyouarebagging,asmallamountofgrassclippings
normallyblowoutthefrontofthemower.Anexcessive
amountofclippingblow-outindicatesthatthebagsare
fullorthesystemisplugged.

InspectingtheGrassCatcher
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst10hours
Monthly
1.Checkthedischargetube,chute,andthegrassbasket;
replacethesepartsiftheyarecrackedorbroken.
2.Tightenallnuts,bolts,andscrews.
InspectingtheMowerBlades
1.Inspectthemowerbladesregularlyandwhenevera
bladestrikesaforeignobject.
2.Ifthebladesarebadlywornordamaged,installnew
blades.RefertoyourtractororthemowerOperator’s
Manualforblademaintenance.
CleaningtheGrassCatcher
1.Aftereachuse,removetheinsideandoutsideof
thegrassbasket,dischargetube,chute,andthe
undersideofthemower,andwashthemusingwater
sprayedfromagardenhose.Useamildautomotive
detergenttoremovestubborndirt.
CAUTION
Ifyoustoregrassclippingsinthegrassbasket,
undertherightconditions,spontaneous
combustion(are-generatingprocessthat
occurswithanexternalsourceofignition)could
occur,potentiallydamagingpropertyand/or
injuringyouorothers.
Thegrassbasketisnotastoragecontainer.Do
notstoregrassclippingsanddebrisinthegrass
basket.
2.Ensurethatyouremovemattedgrassfromallparts.
3.Afterwashing,letallpartsdrythoroughly.Donot
washthegrassbags.
Storage
1.Cleanthegrasscatcher;refertoCleaningtheGrass
Catcher.
2.Inspectthegrasscatcherfordamage;referto
InspectingtheGrassCatcher.
3.Storethegrasscatcherinaclean,dryplace,outof
directsunlighttoprotecttheplasticpartsandextend
thelifeofthebagger.
Note:Ifyoumuststorethegrasscatcheroutside,
coveritwithaweatherproofcover.
