1. Introduction:
This tool (OnQ Part Number 364710-01) was designed to terminate Quad Shield RG6 or Mini Coax cable
with a variety of plugs, including BNC, RCA and “F” types. It is a ratchet style linear compression tool that
terminates the plug onto the cable with one complete ratchet cycle (start with tool open – squeeze
handles together until they close and open again).
2. Description:
The OnQ Universal Compression Tool has a removable universal head cap that screws onto the ram in
one of two positions. For all plugs other than “F” style, the larger flat disk end of the universal head cap
should be facing toward the inside of the tool (see Figure 1). For “F” style plugs (P/N 364582-01), the
smaller barrel end of the universal head cap should be facing toward the inside of the tool (see Figure 2).
To remove the universal head cap, hold the outer end of the ram and unscrew the universal head cap
from the ram in a counter clockwise direction (viewed from the inside end of the ram). To install the
universal head cap, hold the outer end of the ram, and screw the universal head cap onto the ram in a
clockwise direction (viewed from the inside end of the ram).

Note: When installing the universal head cap in the “F” style position (see Figure 2), insure the
ram lock nut is positioned all the way toward the outer end of the ram. This will allow the universal
head cap to be fully installed onto the ram.

There is a scale (0-10) embossed on the top of the tool (see Figure 3) which is used to position the
universal head cap for correct operation with a variety of manufacturer’s plug styles. Regardless of which
position the universal head cap is in, always use the inside face of the larger flat disk end as the point for
determining in which position (0-10) the tool is adjusted. To adjust the tool, hold the ram at the outer end
and unlock the lock nut by turning it counter clockwise (viewed from the outside end of the ram) toward
the outer end of the ram. Then turn the ram until the inside face of the universal head cap lines up with
the proper line on the scale. Then hold the ram while turning the lock nut clockwise (viewed from the
outside end of the ram) until it locks the ram in place at the chosen setting.
Note: When the universal head cap is fully seated in the “F” style position (see Figure 2), only
positions 6-10 are available for adjustment using the embossed scale. In the position for all other
plug styles (see Figure 1 or 3), the full range (0-10) of positions are available for adjustment using
the embossed scale.
