Theisdesignedtobewall-mountedinaconvenientindoorlocation.
The,containingthespeechunitandDDAinterface,isavailablewitheitherasurfaceor
flush-mountingbackbox.Normallythiswouldbemountedonanoutsidewallnearthefrontdoor,andif
possibleinashelteredlocation.
Theisdesignedforuseonaninwardopeningdoorfittedwithasurface
night-latchtypelock.Thisshouldbeinstalledwithasmallamountofplayonthedoorasoperationwillbe
impairediftootight.
Thisisusedinconjunctionwithatime-clocktoallowtradesmenaccess
duringrestrictedhours.
Foroptimumspeechclarity,itisstronglyrecommendedthatthissystemisinstalled
usingtwisted-pairtelephonecable(egtypeCW1308),unlessotherwisestated.Useoneofthepairsforthe
R&Oconnectionsbetweenthespeechunitandthetelephone.
Connectallitemsbyfollowingthediagramoverleaf.Itisstronglyrecommendedthatasingle
telephonebeconnectedatatimeandfullytestedbeforeproceedingtothenext.
Thespeechunithastwocontrolsattherearforadjustmentofspeechlevels:
VolumeA:SpeechlevelattheEntrancePanel
VolumeB:SpeechlevelattheTelephone
Iffeedbackisexperienced(ahowlorwhistle)turnbothcontrolsto'off'andthenslowlyadjusteachupinturn
untilasatisfactorylevelofspeechisattained.
Nospeech/insufficientspeech:InitiallyestablishcorrectoperationoftheSpeechUnitby
disconnectingalltelephonesandre-connectingasingletelephonewithashortlengthofcable(ROTonly);
Reconnectthetelephonesoneatatimeuntilthefaultre-appears.Note:speechwillbeimpairedifoneor
moretelephonesareleftoffthehook.

Themustbeplacedinaprotectedindoorenvironmentsuchasan
electricalcupboard,closetoa240VACelectricalsupplyandlocatedclosetotheentrance.It
mustbewall-mountedontoplasterboard,woodorasimilarnon-conductivematerial.
Connectionstothe240VACmainssupplymustbecarriedoutbyaqualifiedelectricianor
similarcompetentperson,andmadeinaccordancewithacceptedsafetypractices.Atwo-
poleswitch(asprovidedbyaConsumerUnitorSwitch-Fuse)mustbeincludedtoisolate
bothLiveandNeutralduringInstallationorMaintenance.Thetransformerisprotectedby
fuses;alwaysreplacethesewiththecorrecttypeandrating.
