Important

Before you begin: Open, identify and count all parts prior to assembly. Lay out parts on a flat and non-

abrasive surface. You will need the parts identified on page 3 and 4 of this instruction manual.

NOTE: IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO USE GLUE WITH DOWELS. EXCESS GLUE CAN BE WIPED OFF

WITH DAMP CLOTH.

Insert Dowel at least half way by tapping lightly with a rubber mallet, IF NECESSARY.

CAM LOCK SYSTEM OPERATION

HOW THE KNOCK DOWN (KD) ASSEMBLY SYSTEM WORKS

1. Screw the Cam Bolt into the pre-drilled small holes on the panel. Connect both panels together; making sure

the Cam Bolt goes into the pre-drilled hole at the end of the panel with the Cam Lock.

2. Insert the Cam Lock into the pre-drilled large hole in the panel. Make sure the arrow on the Cam Lock is

pointed towards the Cam Bolt.

3. Once the Cam Bolt is connected inside the Cam Lock, take a Phillips screwdriver (not included) and

tighten the Cam Lock clockwise.

4. Plug the Cam Lock Cover into the cross slot of the Cam Locks to conceal the cam.

You are now ready to assemble the KD unit.

Upper Drawer Assembling

1. Unpack the unit and confirm that you have all the hardware and required parts. Assembly the unit on a

carpeted floor or the empty carton to avoid any scratch.

2. Securely screw 4 Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes on the Upper Drawer Front (N), as

shown in the illustration.

3. Attach the Upper Drawer Side Panels (N2 and N3) to the Upper Drawer Front (N) by engaging four

Small Cam Locks (1) (Refer to page 2 on Cam Lock system operation supplement). Make sure that the

grooves face inward and line up with each other.

4. Slide one Utility Drawer Bottom Panel (N4) all the way into the grooves with the finished surface up.

Upper Drawer Assembling

5. Fasten the Upper Drawer Back Panel (N1) to the Upper Drawer Side Panels (N2 and N3) using four

1-1/4” Screws (10). Make sure that the Utility Drawer Bottom Panel (N4) fits securely into the groove

of the Drawer Back Panel (N1). Tighten all the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

6. Using the pilot holes as a guide, align and attach one Left Slide Runner (DL) to Upper Drawer Left Side

(N2) using three 1/2” Screws (9). Make sure that the roller end of Slide Runner faces backward. Tightly

fasten with a Phillips screwdriver.

7. Repeat the last step to attach one Right Slide Runner (DR) to the Upper Drawer Right Side Panel (N3).

Lower Drawer Assembling

Securely screw 4 Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes on the Lower Drawer Front (O), as shown.

9. Attach the Lower Drawer Side Panels (O2 and O3) to the Lower Drawer Front (O) by engaging four

Small Cam Locks (1). Make sure that the grooves face inward and line up with each other.

10. Slide the other Utility Drawer Bottom Panel (N4) all the way into the grooves with the finished surface up.

Lower Drawer Assembling

11. Fasten the Lower Drawer Back Panel (O1) to the Lower Drawer Side Panels (O2 and O3) using four

1-1/4” Screws (10). Make sure that the Utility Drawer Bottom Panel (N4) fits securely into the groove

of the Drawer Back Panel (O1). Tighten all the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

12. Using the pilot holes as a guide, align and attach the other Left Slide Runner (DL) to the Lower Drawer

Left Side Panel (O2) using three 1/2” Screws (9). Make sure that the roller end of Slide Runner faces

backward. Tightly fasten with a Phillips screwdriver.

13. Repeat the last step to attach the other Right Slide Runner (DR) to the Lower Drawer Right Side (O3).

File Drawer Assembling

14. Pick up the Ball Bearing Slides (S) and separate the Slide Runners for the following steps. Extend the

Slide Runner all the way forward. Press the plastic release lever of the ball bearing slides up and pull

the Slide Runner complete out.

15. Attach the separated Slide Runners (S) to File Drawer Side Panels (P2 and P3) respectively with three

1/2” Screws (9) per slide runner. Ensure the closed end of Slide Runner against the front edge with the

large holes for Cam Locks (1).

16. Securely screw 4 Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes on the File Drawer Front (P), as shown.

17. Attach the File Drawer Side Panels (P2 and P3) to the File Drawer Front (P) by engaging four Small

Cam Locks (1). Make sure that the grooves face inward and line up with each other.

File Drawer Assembling

18. Slide the File Drawer Bottom Panel (P4) all the way into the grooves with the finished surface up.

19. Fasten the File Drawer Back Panel (P1) to the File Drawer Side Panels (P2 and P3) using four 1-1/4”

Screws (10). Make sure that the Drawer Bottom Panel (P4) fits securely into the groove of the Drawer

Back Panel (P1). Tighten all the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

File Drawer Assembling

20. Turn the assembled drawers upright. Fit the Guide Rails (Q) onto the File Drawer Side Panels (P2 and

P3) with the high side facing inward.

21. Hook 2 File Hangers (R) onto the high edges of Guide Rails (Q). Slide the File Hangers forward and

backward to keep hanging files organized.

Left Pedestal Assembling

22. With the pilot holes as a guide, align and attach 2 Left Slide Tracks (CL) to the Left Pedestal Left Panel

(B), using three 1/2” Screws (9) through the small holes on each track and screw into place. Make sure

that the roller end of Slide Track faces the front edge with the wood dowel holes. Tightly fasten with a

Phillips screwdriver.

23. Repeat the same procedure to attach the Right Slide Tracks (CR) to the Left Pedestal Right Panel (C).

24. Securely screw the Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes on the Left Pedestal Left and Right

Panels (B and C) and the 2 Pedestal Top Panels (F), as shown in the illustration.

Left Pedestal Assembling

25. Insert 2 Wood Dowels (4) into the end holes of one Pedestal Top Front Stretcher (H). Make sure you

use a small amount of glue with both ends of all dowels.

NOTE: It is very important to use a small amount of glue on both ends of dowels.

26. Align the inserted Wood Dowels (4) on the Pedestal Top Front Stretcher (H) with the drilled holes on

the Left Pedestal Left Panel (B), then press them together. Make sure that the long edge with the wood

dowel holes faces up when the unit is turned upright.

27. Fasten the Left Pedestal Middle Stretcher (I) to the Left Pedestal Left Panel (B) using one Large Cam

Lock (2) and one Wood Dowel (4). Ensure the Cam Lock faces inward.

28. Repeat the same procedure to attach the Left Pedestal Right Panel (C) at the opposite end.

29. Insert 4 Wood Dowels (4) into the bottom

holes of the Left Pedestal Side Panels (B

and C) as a guide. Align the drilled holes

of one Pedestal Bottom Panel (G) with the

inserted Wood Dowels (4) on the Left

Pedestal Side Panels (B and C) and press

them together. Fasten the Pedestal Bottom

Panel (G) in place with four 1-1/2” Wood

Screws (11).

Right Pedestal Assembling

30. Attach the separated Slide Tracks (S) to the Right Pedestal Left and Right Panels (D and E) respectively

with three 1/2” Screws (9) per slide track. Ensure the opening of Slide Track faces the front edge with

the wood dowel holes.

31. Connect the other Pedestal Top Front Stretcher (H) between the Right Pedestal Left and Right Panels (D

and E) with four Wood Dowels (4). Make sure that the long edge with the wood dowel holes faces up

when the unit is turned upright.

32. Fasten the other Pedestal Bottom Panel (G) to the Right Pedestal Side Panels (D and E) with four Wood

Dowels (4) and four 1-1/2”

Wood Screws (11). As shown below.

Assembly Instructions

33. Stand the assembled pedestal frames upright.

34. Securely screw the Cam Bolts (3) into the designated small holes on the Left Pedestal Right Panel (C)

and the Right Pedestal Left Panel (D), as shown in the illustration.

35. Attach the Modesty Panel (J) between the assembled pedestal frames using four Large Cam Locks (2)

and four Wood Dowels (4). Make sure that the cam locks point towards the back of the unit.

Assembly Instructions

36. Position the Desk Top (A) on a level and protective surface with the threaded inserts facing up.

37. Insert four 3-1/8” Bolts (6) with the Lock Washers (7) and the Flat Washers (8) through the center

drilled holes on one Pedestal Top Panel (F) through the metal plates of 2 Spacers (M) and securely

screw into the threaded inserts included on the Desk Top (A). As shown below.

38. Repeat the last step with the other Pedestal Top Panel (F). Make sure that the wood dowel holes against

the front edge point towards the same direction.

39. Insert 12 Wood Dowels (4) into the top inner holes of the assembled pedestal frames, as shown below.

Ask for assistance to position the assembled Pedestal Top Panels (F) onto the inserted Wood Dowels (4)

and attach them in place by engaging eight Large Cam Locks (2).

Assembly Instructions

40. Now, go back and tighten all cam locks and screws. Make sure all the parts are tight and there are no

gaps between the parts. This will help keep the unit square.

41. Turn the assembled unit over on its front edges. Lay and position the Pedestal Back Panels (K) onto the

assembled pedestal frames making sure the drilled holes on the Back Panels overlap the pilot holes

properly. Secure the Back Panels (K) in place using the provided 1/2” Pan Head Screws (12). As shown.

NOTE:

We recommend attaching the back panels with Ring Shank Nails at the corners first.

42. Align and attach the Base Metal Frame (L) to each Pedestal Bottom Panel (G) by inserting three 1-1/2”

Bolts (5) with the Washers (7 and 8) through the drilled holes of the metal frame and securely screw

into the female connectors on the Pedestal Bottom Panel.

43. Ask for assistance to stand the unit upright and position it at the desired location.

44. Insert the file drawer into the right pedestal frame. Extend the Ball Bearing Slide Tracks (S) on the

Right Pedestal all the way forward (including ball bearing cart). Then align the Slide Runners on the

assembled file drawer with the Slide Tracks and push the drawer carefully inside until it stops.

NOTE: If the drawer does not go in smoothly, please take it out and repeat the step. If you need to

remove the drawer, please pull the drawer all the way out, then simultaneously push the plastic release

lever of the ball bearing slides up on one side and down on the other side, and then pull it completely

out.

45. To insert the assembled upper drawer into place, tip the front of drawer down and drop the rollers of the

Drawer Slide Runners behind the rollers of Slide Tracks on the unit. Lift the front of the drawer up and

slide it into the unit.

46. Repeat the last step to install the lower drawer into place.

47. If necessary, adjust the pre-attached floor levelers at the bottom of Metal Frames (L) to level the unit.

Care and Maintenance

z Use a soft, clean cloth that will not scratch the surface when dusting.

z Use of furniture polish is not necessary. Should you choose to use polish, test first in an inconspicuous area.

z Using solvents of any kind on your furniture may damage your furniture’s finish.

z Never use water to clean your furniture as it may cause damage to the finish.

z Always use coasters under beverage glasses and flowerpots.

z Liquid spills should be removed immediately. Using a soft clean cloth, blot the spill gently. Avoid rubbing.

z Always use protective pads under hot dishes and plates. Heat can cause chemical changes that may create

spotting within the furniture finish.

z Stains or marks from crayons or ink markers will be difficult to remove.

z In the event that your furniture is stained or otherwise damaged during use, we recommend that you call a

professional to repair your furniture.

z Check bolts/screws periodically and tighten them if necessary.

Further advice about wood furniture care

It is best to keep your furniture in a climate-controlled environment. Extreme temperature and humidity

changes can cause fading, warping, shrinking and splitting of wood. It is advised to keep furniture away from

direct sunlight as sun may damage the finish.

Proper care and cleaning at home will extend the life of your purchase. Following these important and helpful

tips will enhance your furniture as it ages.

A Touch-up Pen has been provided to repair any small nicks or scratches that may occur during assembly or

shipping.
