INSTALLATION

For the single or double patch panel chassis, rotate the mounting

flanges to any 90-degree position for rack or wall mounting. See

Figure 5 on page 2.

OPERATION

The following are the connection guidelines for the Patch Panel.

 Connecting the OUT amphenol on the patch panel to the OUT

amphenol on the associated multiplexer causes pin 1 and pin

2 of each RJ-48C jack to transmit the output Tip and Ring

signal for each of the 28 T1/E1s from the multiplexer.

INTRODUCTION

This job aid supports the following products:

Each 28-port patch panel section is independent of the other and

individually provides patch panel connections to separate groups

of 28 DSX-1 circuits. In Tables 1 and 2, the “Amphenol Pin”

column represents the pins on both the multiplexer and the

associated patch panel. The amphenol connectors and RJ-48C

jacks on the patch panel are labeled for identification. Figures 1 - 4

(page 2) show both single and double patch panel configurations.

 Connecting the IN amphenol on the patch panel to the IN amphenol on the associated multiplexer causes pin 4 and pin 5 of each RJ-

48C jack to receive the input Tip and Ring signal to the multiplexer for each of the 28 T1/E1s.

 Connecting the IN amphenol on the patch panel to the OUT amphenol on the multiplexer, and the OUT amphenol on the patch panel

to the IN amphenol on the multiplexer will exchange (swap) the transmit and receive functions of pins 1–2 and pins 4–5 on each RJ-

48C jack.

 Far end termination of the RJ-48C jacks is customer determined.
