Xtra Pro Laptop.
Get in to a world of bright learning with the Xtra Pro Laptop! This great laptop features a
range of entertaining games that teach letters, spelling, phonics, vocabulary, maths, world
discovery, nature and science, art, music and more in an imaginative and captivating way.
Learning French is made easy: learn letters, numbers, objects and phrases through simple
and memorable activities. There are also handy utilities that help store useful information!
Press the three display buttons to change the colour of the screen backlight to make your
learning adventure really unique!

BATTERY INSTALLATION

Unlock the packaging locks:
1. Rotate the packaging locks 90 degrees anti-clockwise
2. Pull out the packaging lock
Demo strip removal:
When the product is taken out of the packaging, please remove the demo strip from the
unit to activate normal play mode.
GETTING STARTED
POWER SOURCE
The VTech
®
Xtra Pro Laptop operates on 4 “AA” size batteries (AM-3/LR6) and 1
“CR2032” size battery, or a VTech
®
7.5V 400mA or 9V 300mA adaptor (sold separately).
BATTERY INSTALLATION
NOTE: For best performance, remove all factory-installed batteries
and use new, alkaline batteries.
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit and open it.
3. Insert 4 new “AA” batteries (AM-3/LR6) as illustrated.
4. Close the battery cover.
IMPORTANT: When replacing the 4 “AA” size batteries, make sure the backup battery is
in the unit. Otherwise you will lose any information stored in the unit.
BACKUP BATTERY INSTALLATION
Your VTech
®
Xtra Pro Laptop comes with a backup battery already installed. To avoid damage
to the unit from leaky batteries, replace the backup battery at least once a year.
TO REPLACE THE BACKUP BATTERY
1. Make sure the unit is OFF.
2. Using a small cross-head screwdriver, loosen the battery cover.
3. Insert 1 CR2032 size battery as illustrated.
4. Close the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure it.
IMPORTANT:
While replacing the backup battery, the 4 “AA” size batteries must be kept in
the unit. Otherwise,
you will lose any information stored in the unit.
BATTERY NOTICE

• Non-rechargeablebatteriesarenottoberecharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged (if
removable).

DISPOSAL OF BATTERIES AND PRODUCT
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their
respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic
waste as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment
and human health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery
contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead

7.5V 400mA or 9V 300mA centre-positive adaptor.
CONNECTING THE ADAPTOR
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the adaptor jack on the right side of the unit.
3. Insert the adaptor plug into the unit’s adaptor jack.
4. Plug the adaptor into an electrical outlet.
5. Turn the unit ON.

NOTICE TO PARENTS
Regularlyexamine theadaptor,checkingfordamage tothecord,plug, transformeror
other parts. Do not use the adaptor if there is any damage to it. The demo tag should
be removed automatically when the product is taken out of the packing. If the demo tag
is still in position when you begin play, please remove it from the bottom of the unit to
activate normal play mode.
REAL MOUSE
Use the mouse only on a clean, flat surface or on a mouse pad, so that the
roller ball is not damaged and the cursor moves freely across the screen.
Use only a mouse that is compatible with VTech
®
products.
CONNECTING THE MOUSE
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the mouse jack on the right side of the unit.
3. Plug the mouse into the mouse jack.
USING THE MOUSE
1. Move the mouse in the direction you want the cursor to move.
2. Click on the mouse button to make a selection.
CLEANING THE MOUSE
1.
Following the arrows, use a screwdriver to open the cover on the
bottom of the mouse.
2. Take the ball out of the mouse and use a dry cloth to clean the
mouse and the ball.
3. Place the ball back into the mouse, place the cover back onto the
mouse and screw the cover closed.

ONE/TWO PLAYER MODE
Press
on the keyboard to switch between One Player and Two Player modes. The
activities that can be played with two players are:

PROGRESSIVE LEARNING FEATURE
In most activities, if the questions are answered incorrectly in the first round of a game, 3
questions in total will be repeated in later rounds. This feature is designed to help children
learn by developing memory skills.
AUTO LEVELLING FEATURE
Inmostactivities,afterentering3continuousroundsofcorrectanswersorgetting80-100
points each round, it will auto level up; vice versa, if the score is lower than 60 points each
round, after 3 rounds continuously, it will auto level down.
TURNING THE UNIT ON AND OFF
Pressing
will turn the unit ON. Pressing
again will turn the unit OFF.
ACTIVITY SELECTION:
When the unit is turned on, you will see a short opening animation before entering the Main
Menu. Without any input, you will see the activities being scrolled though automatically.
You can choose an activity in one of these ways:

when you see an activity you like.

3. click the mouse button at the arrow icon on the screen to cycle through the activities,

If you press a category key such as

category. An activity can then be chosen in the above ways.
LEVEL SELECTION

when starting a new activity.

In most activities, the answer will be provided after a certain number of tries.
SHORT BREAK MODE
After playing five rounds in a row in any activity, you will be shown a fun musical interlude!
