2 Introduction

PcBase III is the central database program for the administration of consumer and meter reading
data.
In PcBase III it is possible to show and calculate e.g. consumption data and periodic consumption.
Meter reading data can be exported from PcBase III to billing programs or to spreadsheet
programs for further data processing.
PcBase III is used together with the following communication programs:

Kamstrup PcImportExport III.
2.1 Database
In PcBase III, an MS SQL 2014 Express database is used as default.

2.1.1 Starting up PcBase III
The program is started in Windows by clicking Start Programs Kamstrup Kamstrup
PcBase III.

Under Set-up, the program-related setup is done. It is only necessary to do the setup once during
the installation of the program (see Installing the program), but afterwards it is possible to modify it
as required.

To go to General, select File menu Set-up General.

Displays the name of the server on which the SQL database is running.
Current database
Displays the name of the database.
Select new database and/or location
Select which database to use in PcBase III. See Installing the program for further details.

Click Archive to obtain access to restoring and archiving the database of PcBase III. See

COM port for MULTITERM WA
Select the COM port to which MULTITERM WorkAbout should be connected either through
docking station, LIF COM cable or RS-232 cable.
Prompt to save MT WA route file

Select this option if you want to show a message - when relevant - asking the user to save the
MT WA route file.
Current server
Displays the address of the OMNISOFT UtiliDriver server to which PcBaseIII Server is
connected.
If you want to change to another OMNISOFT UtiliDriver server, you must do it via PcBaseIII
Server TrayController.
PcBase server name
Displays the name of the computer running the PcBaseIII Server service.
Sync devices in PcBase with UtiliDriver®
Click Synchronize to synchronize PcBaseIII with OMNISOFT UtiliDriver.
Note You would normally not need to use the Synchronize button as the system handles
the synchronization automatically.

3.2 Formats
To go to Formats, select File menu Set-up Formats.
Under Formats it is possible to enter correct decimal points and choose unit (register format),
which will be used under e.g. Meters Consump. and in export files.
The program includes a series of default formats (also called 'types'). However, it is also possible
to define your own format. It is possible to edit and delete these formats
When meter reading data are transferred to the database, the program checks if there is a format
corresponding to the meter. In case there is, the format will be associated with the meter.
The format can also be added to the meter by editing the data in the menu Meters.
Default formats
The program consists of some default formats. A default format contains typical register formats
for various registers (see above figure). It is not possible to edit the default register formats, but you

can add new registers here and edit register formats (as explained under Editing default or user-
defined format).
User-defined formats
It is possible to add your own format. You can create or edit this format by adding required
registers and by editing register formats (as explained under Creating a new format and Editing
default or user-defined format).
3.2.1 Creating a new format
To create a new format, select File menu Set-up Formats.
1. Click New.
2. Select meter type.
Choose from default meter types to insert the corresponding registers, or choose "Unspecific
meter type" to insert all the registers into the data table.
