Read and understand the instruction manual and labels affixed to the tool. Learn its
application and limitations as well as its specific potential hazards.
2. Don’t use power tools in damp or wet locations or expose them to rain. Keep work area
well lit and provide adequate surrounding work space.
3. USE RIGHT TOOL.
Don’t force the tool or the attachment to do a job for which it was not designed.
4. WEAR PROPER APPAREL.
Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties or jewelry (rings, watch) because they could
get caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair
covering to contain long hair. Roll up long sleeves above the elbows.
5. MAINTAIN TOOL WITH CARE.
Keep tool clean for best and safest performance. Follow instructions for operation and
maintenance.
6. DISCONNECT TOOLS.
Before servicing, when changing accessories or attachments.
7. AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING.
Make sure the switch is in the ‘’OFF’’ position before plugging in.

Specific Safety Instructions
1. Only use King attachments and accessories, serious injury can result if this warning is
not respected.
2. Before filling with water or changing an accessory, remove the power cord from the

ELECTRICAL INFORMATION
WARNING!
ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MUST BE DONE BY A QUALIFIED
ELECTRICIAN. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY! ALL
ADJUSTMENTS OR REPAIRS MUST BE DONE WITH THE WET/DRY
SHARPENER DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SOURCE. FAILURE TO

POWER SUPPLY
WARNING:
YOUR WET/DRY
SHARPENER MUST BE
CONNECTED TO A 110V, 15-AMP.
BRANCH CIRCUIT. FAILURE TO
CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN
RESULT IN INJURY FROM SHOCK
OR FIRE.
110V OPERATION
As received from the factory, your
wet/dry sharpener is ready to run for
110V operation. This tool is intended
for use on a circuit that has an outlet
and a plug which looks like the one
illustrated in Fig.1.
EXTENSION CORDS
The use of any extension cord will cause some
loss of power. Use the following table to
determine the minimum wire size (A.W.G-
American Wire Gauge) extension cord. Use only
extension cords which accept the tool’s plug.
For circuits that are further away from the
electrical circuit box, the wire size must be
increased proportionately in order to deliver ample voltage to the motor. Refer to Fig.2 for
wire length and size.

OPERATION
FILLING WATER RESERVOIR WITH WATER
WARNING!
Unplug power cord before filling water
reservoir with water, risk of electrocusion.
1) Loosen the tool rest lock handles and move the
tool rest away from the sharpening wheel as
shown in Fig.3.
2) Slowly fill the water reservoir (A) Fig.3 with up to
150ml of water. Turn the wheel by hand, the wheel
will slowly absorb the water, once all water is
absorbed, add an additional 50ml or fill until the
wheel is immersed in about 3/8” of water.
3) Connect the power cord to a power outlet. Make
sure your hands are dry before plugging in.
4) Turn the wet/dry sharpener on by moving the
switch (A) Fig.4 sideways to either the forward
rotation setting (B) or reverse rotation setting (C).
Let the wet/dry sharpener run for about a minute
to ensure the sharpening wheel remains wet.
ADJUSTING TOOL REST
1) Fig.5 shows the height adjustment lock handle (A)
and the angle adjustment lock handle (B) which
control the position of the tool rest (C).
2) Loosen the height adjustment lock handle (A)
Fig.5 and move the tool rest to the desired height.
Retighten height adjustment lock handle.
3) Loosen the angle adjustment lock handle (B) Fig.5
and tilt the tool rest to the set the sharpening
angle. Retighten angle adjustment lock handle.
WARNING! This tool may project objects into the air
and could cause serious eye damage. Always wear
safety glasses.
SHARPENING
This wet/dry sharpener is ideal for sharpening
chisels, blades, knives and scissors or any tool with
a sharp edge. Make practice runs on lower quality
tools to gain experience before attempting to
sharpen a quality hand tool.
1) Set the tool rest at the desired height and angle
(same angle as cutting edge of hand tool).
2) Turn the wet/dry sharpener on with the wheel rotating towards you (reverse direction).
3) Place hand tool on tool rest. Using light pressure, press the hand tool against the wheel
and slowly move the hand tool side-to-side. See Fig.6. Side-to-side movement is
important to avoid center wear thus creating an uneven surface. If this happens, truing
the wheel with a dressing stone will be necessary
.

MAINTENANCE
FREQUENT INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
The tool should be inspected and maintained frequently. Check and make sure the power
cord, internal wires, plug and switch are in good condition. Check the wheel, bearings and
driving parts also. Do not allow brake fluid, gasoline, petroleum-based products such as
penetrating oils to come in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals which can
damage, weaken or destroy the motor housing. Service should be done by a qualified
service technician using identical replacement parts.
CLEANING WATER RESERVOIR WITH WATER
After operating your wet/dry sharpener, the water
reservoir will have accumulated material from hand
tools and wheel. It is important to keep the water
reservoir clean.
WARNING! Unplug power cord before cleaning
water reservoir, risk of electrocusion. NEVER
LEAVE WATER IN YOUR SHARPENER, the wheel
will absorb water where submerged and turn off
balance. It may freeze and crack if kept in an
unheated space.
1) Tilt and drain all water from the water reservoir
through the drain spout (A) Fig.7 at the rear of the
sharpener.
2) Fill the water reservoir with water to flush out
accumulated material.
REPLACING SHARPENING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
WARNING!
Unplug power cord before changing
sharpening wheel.
A replacement sharpening wheel (model KM-096) is
available, follow these instructions to change wheel;
1) Flip the wet/dry sharpener upside down and
remove the 4 screws that fix the lower and upper
housings. Flip wet/dry sharpener back onto its
four rubber feet and pull off the upper cover.
2) Slip the wheel belt (A) Fig.8 off the wheel pulley.
3) Undo and remove the two fixing plates (B) on both
sides by removing the four pan head screws (C).
4) Remove the wheel and shaft assembly (D).
5) Remove the C-clip (A) Fig.9 and slide wheel pulley (B) off the shaft. Slide both brass
bushings (C) and four washers (D) of
f the shaft.
6) Reinstall all parts in steps 1-5 in reverse order using your newly purchased wheel and
shaft assembly (model KM-096).
